13:1 그 날에 죄와 더러움을 씻는 샘이 다윗의 족속과 예루살렘 주민을 위하여 열리리라

1 “On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

13:2 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 그 날에 내가 우상의 이름을 이 땅에서 끊어서 기억도 되지 못하게 할 것이며 거짓 선지자와 더러운 귀신을 이 땅에서 떠나게 할 것이라

13:3 사람이 아직도 예언할 것 같으면 그 낳은 부모가 그에게 이르기를 네가 여호와의 이름을 빙자하여 거짓말을 하니 살지 못하리라 하고 낳은 부모가 그가 예언할 때에 칼로 그를 찌르리라

2 “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. 3 And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.’ Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.

13:4 그 날에 선지자들이 예언할 때에 그 환상을 각기 부끄러워할 것이며 사람을 속이려고 털옷도 입지 아니할 것이며

13:5 말하기를 나는 선지자가 아니요 나는 농부라 내가 어려서부터 사람의 종이 되었노라 할 것이요

13:6 어떤 사람이 그에게 묻기를 네 두 팔 사이에 있는 상처는 어찌 됨이냐 하면 대답하기를 이는 나의 친구의 집에서 받은 상처라 하리라

4 “On that day every prophet will be ashamed of their prophetic vision. They will not put on a prophet’s garment of hair in order to deceive. 5 Each will say, ‘I am not a prophet. I am a farmer; the land has been my livelihood since my youth.’ 6 If someone asks, ‘What are these wounds on your body?’ they will answer, ‘The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.’

13:7 만군의 여호와가 말하노라 칼아 깨어서 내 목자, 내 짝 된 자를 치라 목자를 치면 양이 흩어지려니와 작은 자들 위에는 내가 내 손을 드리우리라

13:8 여호와가 말하노라 이 온 땅에서 삼분의 이는 멸망하고 삼분의 일은 거기 남으리니

13:9 내가 그 삼분의 일을 불 가운데에 던져 은 같이 연단하며 금 같이 시험할 것이라 그들이 내 이름을 부르리니 내가 들을 것이며 나는 말하기를 이는 내 백성이라 할 것이요 그들은 말하기를 여호와는 내 하나님이시라 하리라

The Shepherd Struck, the Sheep Scattered

7 “Awake, sword, against my shepherd,

    against the man who is close to me!”

    declares the Lord Almighty.

“Strike the shepherd,

    and the sheep will be scattered,

    and I will turn my hand against the little ones.

8 In the whole land,” declares the Lord,

    “two-thirds will be struck down and perish;

    yet one-third will be left in it.

9 This third I will put into the fire;

    I will refine them like silver

    and test them like gold.

They will call on my name

    and I will answer them;

I will say, ‘They are my people,’

    and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”

                  우리는 어제 스가랴서 12장을 통해 유다 백성들이 그들이 찌름으로 인해 상처를 입은 메시아를 보고 슬피 울 것이라는 말씀을 들었습니다. 이것은 메시아의 죽음과 언약 백성의 회개를 다룬 예언으로 오늘 말씀은 이들의 회개에 대한 하나님의 응답이라고 볼 수 있을 것입니다. 죄와 더러움을 씻는 샘을 열어주시고 공동체를 타락시키는 원인이 되었던 우상과 거짓 선지자들을 심판하십니다. 거짓 목자들을 폐하시고 참된 목자의 희생을 통하여 당신의 백성과 정결한 언약을 성취하십니다. 오늘은 참된 목자를 통한 정결한 언약의 성취라는 제목으로 말씀을 나누기 원합니다.

Yesterday, in Zechariah Chapter 12, we heard the word that the people of Judah would mourn bitterly for the Messiah they had pierced. This was a prophecy concerning the death of the Messiah and the repentance of the covenant people. Today's passage can be seen as God's response to their repentance. He opens a fountain to cleanse from sin and uncleanness, and judges the idols and false prophets that were the cause of the community’s defilement. He abolishes the false shepherds and fulfills the pure covenant with His people through the sacrifice of the True Shepherd. Today, I want to share a message titled, "The Fulfillment of the Pure Covenant Through the True Shepherd."

                  첫번째, 메시아의 희생으로 열린 정결의 샘은 공동체를 더럽혔던 근본적인 원인을 제거합니다. 우리는 이 정결의 샘이 바로 그리스도의 피라는 것을 알고 있지요. 요한일서 1:7은 이를 이렇게 말하고 있습니다. “그 아들 예수의 피가 우리를 모든 죄에서 깨끗하게 하실 것이요” 자, 그런데 본문 말씀은 이 정결의 샘이 씻어내야 할 대상이 무엇인지를 구체적으로 설명하십니다. 2절입니다. 함께 읽겠습니다. “만군의 여호와가 말하노라 그 날에 내가 우상의 이름을 이 땅에서 끊어서 기억도 되지 못하게 할 것이며 거짓 선지자와 더러운 귀신을 이 땅에서 떠나게 할 것이라.” 만군의 여호와께서 말씀하신 척결의 대상은 바로 우상과 거짓 선지자와 더러운 귀신이었습니다. 실제로 본문 말씀 1-9절 중에 거짓 선지자를 제거하는 말씀이 2절 말씀을 포함하면 절반을 넘는 2-6절의 말씀입니다. 그렇다면 우리는 질문하게 됩니다. 왜 이렇게 거짓 선지자를 제거하는 것이 중요한가? 3절을 보니 심지어 그를 낳은 부모라 할지라도 그가 예언할 때에 칼로 그를 찌르리라 라고까지 말씀하십니다. 그 이유는 바로 공동체가 거짓 선지자의 말을 들을 때에 그들은 참된 목자의 음성을 듣지 못하게 되기 때문입니다. 지난 토요일 말씀인 10:2의 말씀을 제가 한번 읽어보겠습니다. “드라빔들은 허탄한 것을 말하며 복술자는 진실하지 않은 것을 보고 거짓 꿈을 말한즉 그 위로가 헛되므로 백성들이 양 같이 유리하며 목자가 없으므로 곤고를 당하나니” 거짓 예언이 편만할 때에 백성들이 양같이 길을 잃고 헤메며 목자가 없으므로 고통을 당한다고 합니다. 그리고 10장부터 13장까지 참된 목자와 악한 목자에 대한 말씀을 계속 이어나가십니다. 무슨 뜻입니까? 거짓 예언자들 이야말로 가련한 양들이 참된 목자에게로 나아가는 것을 막는 가장 근본적인 원인이라는 것입니다. 그래서 3-6절은 이들이 이제 더이상 이 정결한 공동체 안에서는 설 자리가 없다는 것을 철저하게 보여줍니다. 3절, “네가 여호와의 이름을 빙자하여 거짓말을 하니 살지 못하리라” 그들을 낳은 부모조차도 이런 말을 한다는 것은 공동체 안에 거짓 선지자에 대한 인식이 어떠한지 정확히 알 수 있는 부분이지요. 또한 그들 자신도 스스로를 부끄럽게 여기게 된다고 말씀하십니다. 4-6절이 바로 그 부분이지요. 자신의 정체성을 숨기고 스스로 농부라고 속이기까지 합니다. 이제 밖으로나 안으로나 그들은 이 공동체에서 철저하게 배제되었습니다. 이 과정이 우리에게 말씀하시는 것이 있습니다. 그것은 하나님의 언약의 공동체는 거짓 목소리와 헛된 가르침을 단호히 끊어내야 한다는 것입니다. 참된 목자의 음성을 듣기 위해 우리는 말씀으로 위장한 교묘한 가르침들을 제거하는 영적인 분별력이 필요한 것입니다.

I. The Fountain of Cleansing Opened by the Messiah's Sacrifice Removes the Root Cause of the Community's Defilement.

We know that this fountain of cleansing is none other than the blood of Christ. 1 John 1:7 confirms this, saying: "the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

But today's passage specifically explains what this fountain of cleansing is meant to wash away. Let us read verse 2 together: "And on that day, declares the LORD of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more. And also, I will remove from the land the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness¹."

The targets declared by the LORD of hosts for eradication were idols, false prophets, and the spirit of uncleanness. In fact, verses 2-6, which include the call to remove the false prophets, constitute more than half of the passage (verses 1–9).

This leads us to ask a question: Why is the removal of false prophets so crucial?

Verse 3 says that even if a prophet’s own parents catch him prophesying falsely, they must pierce him with a sword. The reason for this severity is that when the community listens to the voice of the false prophet, they are unable to hear the voice of the True Shepherd.

Let me read Zechariah 10:2, which we saw on Saturday: "For the teraphim utter nonsense, and the diviners see lying visions; they tell false dreams and give empty consolation. Therefore the people wander like sheep; they are afflicted for lack of a shepherd."

When false prophecy is widespread, the people wander like lost sheep and suffer distress because they lack a shepherd. The theme of the True Shepherd and the wicked shepherd continues from Chapter 10 all the way to Chapter 13. What does this signify? False prophets are the fundamental obstacle preventing the impoverished sheep from approaching the True Shepherd.

Therefore, verses 3-6 emphatically show that the false prophets no longer have a place in this purified community. Verse 3: "You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of the LORD." The fact that even their parents utter such words demonstrates the community's accurate perception of false prophets. Furthermore, they themselves become ashamed, as described in verses 4-6. They hide their true identity, even claiming to be farmers. Both externally and internally, they are completely excluded from this covenant community.

This entire process speaks a profound truth to us: God's covenant community must resolutely cut off all false voices and empty teachings. To hear the voice of the True Shepherd, we need spiritual discernment to remove the subtle teachings that disguise themselves as the Word of God.

                  이렇게 공동체 안에 오직 하나님의 참된 진리만이 선포될 때에 우리는 참된 목자를 통한 언약의 성취의 과정에 참여하게 됩니다. 이 과정은 목자의 희생과 남은 자들의 연단의 과정을 포함하고 있습니다. 7절입니다. 함께 읽겠습니다. “만군의 여호와가 말하노라 칼아 깨어서 내 목자, 내 짝 된 자를 치라 목자를 치면 양이 흩어지려니와 작은 자들 위에는 내가 내 손을 드리우리라” 하나님께서 내 목자, 내 짝 된 자를 치라고 선언하십니다. 여기에서 칼에 찔려 죽는 목자는 12:10의 ‘그들이 찌른자’와 동일한 인물입니다. 누구이십니까? 예수님이시지요. 마태복음 26:31은 이 말씀이 예수님을 통하여 성취되었음을 확증합니다. “그때에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 오늘 밤에 너희가 다 나를 버리리라 기록된 바 내가 목자를 치리니 양의 떼가 흩어지리라 하였느니라” 그는 하나님과 동등한 메시아, 하나님의 짝이었음에도 불구하고 참된 목자이기에 양을 위하여 자신의 목숨을 내놓았습니다. 그리고 그가 치심을 입자 그의 양떼는 흩어지게 될 터인데 하나님께서는 그들 중 작은 자들 위에 당신의 손을 드리우시겠다고 말씀하십니다. 이는 8-9절의 말씀으로 이어집니다. 8절, 그 중 대부분은 멸망하고 오직 삼분의 일만 남을 것이라 말씀하십니다. 앞에서 이야기했던 작은 자들을 보호하심에 대해 말씀하는 것이지요. 9절 말씀 함께 읽겠습니다. “내가 그 삼분의 일을 불 가운데에 던져 은 같이 연단하며 금 같이 시험할 것이라 그들이 내 이름을 부르리니 내가 들을 것이며 나는 말하기를 이는 내 백성이라 할 것이요 그들은 말하기를 여호와는 내 하나님이시라 하리라” 우리는 이 말씀을 통하여 하나님께서 그 양을 흩으신 이유는 그들을 목자 없는 양같이 흩으시려는 것이 아니라 그들을 은 같이 연단하고 금 같이 시험하여 정결하게 만들기 위해서라는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 왜 그렇게 하십니까? 바로 연단이 끝난 후에 하나님과 백성 사이의 영원한 언약이 회복하시기 위해서입니다. “이는 내 백성이라 할 것이요 그들은 말하기를 여호와는 내 하나님이시라 하리라” 우리의 참된 목자되신 예수님의 희생으로 열린 길은 좁은 길입니다. 참 목자를 따르는 길에는 흩어짐과 연단이 반드시 따르기 마련인 것입니다. 그러나 이 연단의 시간이 끝나고 우리가 정금과 같이 정결하게 될 때에 우리는 하나님의 참된 백성으로 언약을 성취하게 될 것입니다.

II. The Fulfillment of the Covenant Through the True Shepherd's Sacrifice and the Remnant's Refining.

When only God’s true Word is proclaimed within the community, we participate in the process of covenant fulfillment through the True Shepherd. This process involves the Shepherd’s sacrifice and the remnant’s refining.

Let us read verse 7 together: "“Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate,” declares the LORD of hosts. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.”

God declares, "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate." The Shepherd pierced by the sword here is the same person as "him whom they have pierced" in 12:10. Who is He? Jesus! Matthew 26:31 confirms the fulfillment of this word through Jesus: “Then Jesus said to them, 'You will all fall away because of me this night, for it is written, “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.”'

Though He was the Messiah, God’s equal, His associate, He was the True Shepherd, and so He laid down His life for the sheep. When He was struck, His flock scattered. But God promised, "I will turn my hand against the little ones" (the remnant). This leads to verses 8-9.

Verse 8 says that two-thirds of the people will perish, and only one-third will remain. This speaks of the protection promised to the little ones. Let us read verse 9 together: "And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The LORD is my God.’"

Through this passage, we understand that the reason God scattered the sheep was not to leave them shepherdless, but to refine them like silver and test them like gold, thereby making them pure. Why does He do this? It is to restore the eternal covenant between God and His people after the refining is complete. "I will say, 'They are my people'; and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

The path opened by the sacrifice of our True Shepherd, Jesus, is a narrow one. Scattering and refining must necessarily accompany the path of following the True Shepherd. However, when this time of testing ends, and we are purified like gold, we will fulfill the covenant as God's true people.

                    말씀을 맺습니다. 우리의 참된 목자이신 예수 그리스도의 희생으로 우리는 죄와 더러움을 씻는 샘을 얻었습니다. 이 샘은 단순히 우리의 죄책감만 씻어내는 것이 아닙니다. 이 샘은 오늘날에도 우리 공동체를 어지럽히는 거짓된 목소리, 헛된 가르침을 철저히 분별하고 끊어내라고 명령하십니다. 여러분, 정결한 언약 백성의 삶은 좁은 길입니다. 참된 목자되신 예수님의 희생이 그러했고, 연단을 통과하는 남은 자의 삶이 그러합니다. 우리가 고난의 불 속에서 정금같이 정결하게 연단 될 때 하나님께서는 우리에게 말씀하실 것입니다. “이는 내 백성이라 할 것이요.” 그리고 우리는 응답할 것입니다. “여호와는 내 하나님이시라” 이 거룩한 언약의 성취를 소망하며, 거짓을 멀리하고 연단을 기꺼이 감당하는 정결한 믿음의 길을 걸어가는 여러분 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

Conclusion and Challenge

Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our True Shepherd, we have obtained a fountain to cleanse us from sin and uncleanness. This fountain does not merely cleanse our guilt; it commands us to thoroughly discern and cut off the false voices and empty teachings that trouble our community today.

The life of the pure covenant people is a narrow road. It was true for the sacrifice of the True Shepherd, and it is true for the life of the remnant who pass through the refining fire. When we are refined like pure gold in the fire of affliction, God will say to us, "They are My people." And we will respond, "The LORD is my God."

I pray that you will hope for this holy covenant fulfillment, walk the path of pure faith, turning away from falsehood and willingly enduring the refining process, in the name of the Lord.
