102:1 여호와여 내 기도를 들으시고 나의 부르짖음을 주께 상달하게 하소서

102:2 나의 괴로운 날에 주의 얼굴을 내게서 숨기지 마소서 주의 귀를 내게 기울이사 내가 부르짖는 날에 속히 내게 응답하소서

1 Hear my prayer, Lord;

    let my cry for help come to you.

2 Do not hide your face from me

    when I am in distress.

Turn your ear to me;

    when I call, answer me quickly.

102:3 내 날이 연기 같이 소멸하며 내 뼈가 숯 같이 탔음이니이다

102:4 내가 음식 먹기도 잊었으므로 내 마음이 풀 같이 시들고 말라 버렸사오며

102:5 나의 탄식 소리로 말미암아 나의 살이 뼈에 붙었나이다

102:6 나는 광야의 올빼미 같고 황폐한 곳의 부엉이 같이 되었사오며

102:7 내가 밤을 새우니 지붕 위의 외로운 참새 같으니이다

102:8 내 원수들이 종일 나를 비방하며 내게 대항하여 미칠 듯이 날뛰는 자들이 나를 가리켜 맹세하나이다

102:9 나는 재를 양식 같이 먹으며 나는 눈물 섞인 물을 마셨나이다

102:10 주의 분노와 진노로 말미암음이라 주께서 나를 들어서 던지셨나이다

102:11 내 날이 기울어지는 그림자 같고 내가 풀의 시들어짐 같으니이다

3 For my days vanish like smoke;

    my bones burn like glowing embers.

4 My heart is blighted and withered like grass;

    I forget to eat my food.

5 In my distress I groan aloud

    and am reduced to skin and bones.

6 I am like a desert owl,

    like an owl among the ruins.

7 I lie awake; I have become

    like a bird alone on a roof.

8 All day long my enemies taunt me;

    those who rail against me use my name as a curse.

9 For I eat ashes as my food

    and mingle my drink with tears

10 because of your great wrath,

    for you have taken me up and thrown me aside.

11 My days are like the evening shadow;

    I wither away like grass.

102:12 여호와여 주는 영원히 계시고 주에 대한 기억은 대대에 이르리이다

102:13 주께서 일어나사 시온을 긍휼히 여기시리니 지금은 그에게 은혜를 베푸실 때라 정한 기한이 다가옴이니이다

102:14 주의 종들이 시온의 돌들을 즐거워하며 그의 티끌도 은혜를 받나이다

102:15 이에 뭇 나라가 여호와의 이름을 경외하며 이 땅의 모든 왕들이 주의 영광을 경외하리니

102:16 여호와께서 시온을 건설하시고 그의 영광 중에 나타나셨음이라

102:17 여호와께서 빈궁한 자의 기도를 돌아보시며 그들의 기도를 멸시하지 아니하셨도다

12 But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever;

    your renown endures through all generations.

13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion,

    for it is time to show favor to her;

    the appointed time has come.

14 For her stones are dear to your servants;

    her very dust moves them to pity.

15 The nations will fear the name of the Lord,

    all the kings of the earth will revere your glory.

16 For the Lord will rebuild Zion

    and appear in his glory.

17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute;

    he will not despise their plea.

102:18 이 일이 장래 세대를 위하여 기록되리니 창조함을 받을 백성이 여호와를 찬양하리로다

102:19 여호와께서 그의 높은 성소에서 굽어보시며 하늘에서 땅을 살펴보셨으니

102:20 이는 갇힌 자의 탄식을 들으시며 죽이기로 정한 자를 해방하사

102:21 여호와의 이름을 시온에서, 그 영예를 예루살렘에서 선포하게 하려 하심이라

102:22 그 때에 민족들과 나라들이 함께 모여 여호와를 섬기리로다

18 Let this be written for a future generation,

    that a people not yet created may praise the Lord:

19 “The Lord looked down from his sanctuary on high,

    from heaven he viewed the earth,

20 to hear the groans of the prisoners

    and release those condemned to death.”

21 So the name of the Lord will be declared in Zion

    and his praise in Jerusalem

22 when the peoples and the kingdoms

    assemble to worship the Lord.

102:23 그가 내 힘을 중도에 쇠약하게 하시며 내 날을 짧게 하셨도다

102:24 나의 말이 하나님이여 나의 중년에 나를 데려가지 마옵소서 주의 연대는 대대에 무궁하나이다

102:25 주께서 옛적에 땅의 기초를 놓으셨사오며 하늘도 주의 손으로 지으신 바니이다

102:26 천지는 없어지려니와 주는 영존하시겠고 그것들은 다 옷 같이 낡으리니 의복 같이 바꾸시면 바뀌려니와

102:27 주는 한결같으시고 주의 연대는 무궁하리이다

102:28 주의 종들의 자손은 항상 안전히 거주하고 그의 후손은 주 앞에 굳게 서리이다 하였도다

23 In the course of my life he broke my strength;

    he cut short my days.

24 So I said:

“Do not take me away, my God, in the midst of my days;

    your years go on through all generations.

25 In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth,

    and the heavens are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you remain;

    they will all wear out like a garment.

Like clothing you will change them

    and they will be discarded.

27 But you remain the same,

    and your years will never end.

28 The children of your servants will live in your presence;

    their descendants will be established before you.”

102편은 초대 기독교 전통에 의하면 6, 32, 38, 51, 130, 143편과 더불어 7편의 참회의 시편 중 하나로 분류되었습니다. 하지만 나머지 6편의 시편이 개인적인 참회의 시라면, 본 시편은 세계적인 차원에서 신앙을 노래합니다. 결론적으로 개인적인 차원을 넘어 민족적 국가적인 참회를 통하여 회복을 구하는 시입니다. 국가적인 죄악을 통하여 수난을 경험한 시인이 민족적 차원에서 회개와 탄식을 통하여 하나님의 구원을 간구하는 비탄적 회개시로 볼 수 있습니다.

또한 본 시편은 표제, 그러니까 제목이 시인이 처한 삶의 상황만을 자세히 묘사한 면에서 독특합니다.

고난 당한 자가 마음이 상하여 그의 근심을 여호와 앞에 토로하는 기도

상하다는 쇠약해진 상태로 시인의 상황을 대변하는 단어입니다. 기도로 번역된 단어의 본래 의미는 탄식, 애통의 의미입니다. 근심으로 번역된 단어의 본래 의미는 원망, 간구의 의미입니다. 그러므로 본 시편은  극심한 고난 중에 원망과 간구를 탄식과 애통으로 하나님께 올려 드리는 개인기도의 시인 것이다. 하지만 동시에 민족과 시온을 위하는 시인의 마음으로 보아 아마도 다윗 왕가의 자손이거나 구성원으로 바벨론 포로생활 가운데 시를 지었을 것으로 보입니다.

Introduction to Psalm 102

According to early Christian tradition, Psalm 102 is classified as one of the seven Penitential Psalms, along with Psalms 6, 32, 38, 51, 130, and 143. However, while the other six are individual songs of repentance, this Psalm sings of faith on a global scale. It is a psalm that seeks restoration through national and ethnic repentance, transcending the individual level. It can be viewed as a sorrowful poem of repentance where the psalmist, having experienced suffering through national sins, entreats God for salvation through repentance and lamentation on an ethnic level.

Furthermore, this Psalm is unique in that its title describes in detail the specific life situation the psalmist is facing:

• "Faint" (Afflicted): Represents the psalmist's weakened state.

• "Prayer": Originally carries the meaning of lamentation and mourning.

• "Complaint": Originally means resentment and petition.

  
  

Thus, this is a personal prayer offered to God in the midst of extreme suffering, pouring out resentment and petition through mourning. Simultaneously, the psalmist's heart for the nation and Zion suggests they may have been a descendant of the Davidic line or a member of the community during the Babylonian exile.

1연(1~2절) 도입기도

시인은 괴로운 날에 자신의 간구와 기도, 부르짖음을 들으시고 속히 응답하시기를 간구합니다. 우리는 기도할 때 반드시 응답하시는 하나님을 믿고 구해야 합니다. 주님은 다음과 같이 말씀 하십니다.

그러므로 내가 너희에게 말하노니 무엇이든지 기도하고 구하는 것은 받은 줄로 믿으라

그리하면 너희에게 그대로 되리라 (막 11:24)

Stanza 1 (Verses 1–2): Introductory Prayer

The psalmist begs God to hear his petition and cry in his day of distress and to answer him quickly. When we pray, we must believe in a God who surely answers. As the Lord says:

2연(3~11절) 고난에 대한 기록

하나님의 진노로 나를 들어 던지셨다(10)는 표현으로 이 시가 회개시의 범주로 들어가게 된 것입니다. 시인은 여러 시적인 표현 “내 날이 연기, 내 뼈가 숯, 광야의 올빼미, 부엉이, 참새, 재를 양식처럼, 눈물 섞인 물” 등으로 자신의 신세를 한탄합니다. 그는 괴로움 때문에 음식 먹기도 잊을 정도입니다. 살이 뼈에 붙은 정도로 말라 버렸습니다. 결국 시인은 자신의 날이 기울어지는 그림자 같고 풀의 시들어짐과 같다고 고백합니다. 하지만 가장 괴로운 것은 하나님의 무응답입니다.

Stanza 2 (Verses 3–11): Record of Suffering

The expression "You have taken me up and thrown me down" (v. 10) indicates God's wrath and places this poem in the category of a penitential psalm. The psalmist laments his situation using poetic expressions such as "my days pass away like smoke," "my bones burn like a furnace," "an owl of the waste places," "a desert owl," "a lonely sparrow," "eaten ashes like bread," and "mingled drink with weeping". He has lost his appetite due to distress and has wasted away until his bones cling to his skin. Ultimately, he feels like a fading shadow or withered grass, but his greatest pain is God's silence.

3연(12~17절) 기도응답 확신, 시온의 회복

그런데 시의 분위기가 확 바뀝니다. 12절 원문을 그대로 직역하면 그러나(그리고) 당신은 여호와십니다 입니다. 상호 주제가 다음과 연결됩니다. 주에 대한 기억(12)으로 여호와의 이름을 경외합니다(15). 주님이 시온을 긍휼히 여기심(13)으로 시온을 건설하실 것입니다(16). 주의 종들이 시온의 돌들을 즐거워하듯(14) 여호와께서 빈궁한 자의 기도를 들으실 것(17)입니다.

시인은 지금이 여호와께서 은혜를 베푸실 때라고 선포합니다. 주님이 정하신 기간이 다가왔습니다(13).

사도 바울도 다음과 같이 선포합니다.

이르시되 내가 은혜 베풀 때에 너에게 듣고 구원의 날에 너를 도왔다 하셨으니

보라 지금은 은혜 받을 만한 때요 보라 지금은 구원의 날이로다 (고후 6:2)

미룰수 없습니다. 지금이 바로 하나님의 은혜가 선포되고, 실행되는 순간입니다. 기도로 붙잡아야 합니다.

Stanza 3 (Verses 12–17): Assurance of Answered Prayer, Restoration of Zion

The atmosphere shifts dramatically here. Verse 12 literally translates to: "But (And) You are the Lord".

• Through the remembrance of the Lord (v. 12), they fear the name of Jehovah (v. 15).

• Because the Lord regards Zion with compassion (v. 13), He will build up Zion (v. 16).

• Just as the Lord's servants pity her stones (v. 14), the Lord will regard the prayer of the destitute (v. 17).

  
  

The psalmist declares that now is the time for grace; the appointed time has come. The Apostle Paul similarly proclaimed that now is the day of salvation (2 Cor 6:2). We must seize this moment through prayer.

4연(18~22절) 구원에 대한 기록과 열방의 찬양

시인은 이러한 여호와의 구원을 다음 두 그룹이 알게 되어 여호와를 찬양할 것을 소원합니다.

먼저는 장래 세대, 곧 후손들입니다.

신앙은 아버지에서 아들에게로 전수되는 것입니다. 우리가 남겨야 할 것은 다른 것들이 아닌 신앙입니다.

다음은 민족들과 나라들, 곧 열방이 여호와를 섬길 것입니다.

신앙은 수직으로만 이동하지 않습니다. 수평으로도 이동합니다. 전도요, 선교입니다. 이러한 시인의 성령의 감동으로 인한 바램(예언)은 예수 그리스도의 십자가에서 이루어집니다. 복음은 수직적이고, 동시에 수평적입니다.

Stanza 4 (Verses 18–22): Record of Salvation and Praise of Nations

The psalmist desires two groups to praise the Lord after witnessing His salvation:

1. The Future Generations: Faith must be passed down from father to son; it is the ultimate legacy.

2. The Nations and Kingdoms: Faith moves horizontally through evangelism and mission. This prophetic desire was fulfilled through the cross of Jesus Christ.

5연 (23~28절) 영원하신 주님과 유한한 인생

시인은 남은 날을 헤아리는 지혜가 있는 자입니다. 온 천지를 만드신 하나님, 그의 창조된 세계는 옷같이 낡아가지만(26) 주의 연대는 영원할 것입니다. 하나님은 영원하신 사랑으로 우리를 보호하심으로 그의 백성들은 심판날에 주님 앞에 굳게 설 것입니다.

지금은 은혜 받을 때이고, 구원의 날입니다. 기도 응답을 확신하고 기도합시다.

하지만 만사는 하나님의 때에 이루어집니다. 조바심 낼 필요 없습니다.

눈물로 씨를 뿌리는 자는 기쁨의 단을 거두는 것입니다.

Stanza 5 (Verses 23–28): The Eternal Lord and Finite Life

The psalmist possesses the wisdom to count his remaining days. While the created world wears out like clothing, the Lord’s years are eternal. Because God protects us with eternal love, His people will stand firm before Him on the day of judgment.

Closing Reflection

Now is the time for grace and the day of salvation. Let us pray with the assurance that our prayers are answered. However, remember that all things happen in God's timing; there is no need for impatience. Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy.
