15:1 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되

15:2 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들에게 이르라 너희는 내가 주어 살게 할 땅에 들어가서

15:3 여호와께 화제나 번제나 서원을 갚는 제사나 낙헌제나 정한 절기제에 소나 양을 여호와께 향기롭게 드릴 때에

15:4 그러한 헌물을 드리는 자는 고운 가루 십분의 일에 기름 사분의 일 힌을 섞어 여호와께 소제로 드릴 것이며

15:5 번제나 다른 제사로 드리는 제물이 어린 양이면 전제로 포도주 사분의 일 힌을 준비할 것이요

1 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘After you enter the land I am giving you as a home 3 and you present to the Lord food offerings from the herd or the flock, as an aroma pleasing to the Lord—whether burnt offerings or sacrifices, for special vows or freewill offerings or festival offerings— 4 then the person who brings an offering shall present to the Lord a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of olive oil. 5 With each lamb for the burnt offering or the sacrifice, prepare a quarter of a hin of wine as a drink offering.

6 “‘With a ram prepare a grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with a third of a hin of olive oil, 7 and a third of a hin of wine as a drink offering. Offer it as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.

15:8 번제로나 서원을 갚는 제사로나 화목제로 수송아지를 예비하여 여호와께 드릴 때에는

15:9 소제로 고운 가루 십분의 삼 에바에 기름 반 힌을 섞어 그 수송아지와 함께 드리고

15:10 전제로 포도주 반 힌을 드려 여호와 앞에 향기로운 화제를 삼을 지니라

15:11 수송아지나 숫양이나 어린 숫양이나 어린 염소에는 그 마리 수마다 위와 같이 행하되

15:12 너희가 준비하는 수효를 따라 각기 수효에 맞게 하라

8 “‘When you prepare a young bull as a burnt offering or sacrifice, for a special vow or a fellowship offering to the Lord, 9 bring with the bull a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with half a hin of olive oil, 10 and also bring half a hin of wine as a drink offering. This will be a food offering, an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 11 Each bull or ram, each lamb or young goat, is to be prepared in this manner. 12 Do this for each one, for as many as you prepare.

15:13 누구든지 본토 소생이 여호와께 향기로운 화제를 드릴 때에는 이 법대로 할 것이요

15:14 너희 중에 거류하는 타국인이나 너희 중에 대대로 있는 자나 누구든지 여호와께 향기로운 화제를 드릴 때에는 너희가 하는 대로 그도 그리할 것이라

15:15 회중 곧 너희에게나 거류하는 타국인에게나 같은 율례이니 너희의 대대로 영원한 율례라 너희가 어떠한 대로 타국인도 여호와 앞에 그러하리라

13 “‘Everyone who is native-born must do these things in this way when they present a food offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 14 For the generations to come, whenever a foreigner or anyone else living among you presents a food offering as an aroma pleasing to the Lord, they must do exactly as you do. 15 The community is to have the same rules for you and for the foreigner residing among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the Lord: 16 The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing among you.’”

15:17 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되

15:19 그 땅의 양식을 먹을 때에 여호와께 거제를 드리되

15:20 너희의 처음 익은 곡식 가루 떡을 거제로 타작 마당의 거제 같이 들어 드리라

15:21 너희의 처음 익은 곡식 가루 떡을 대대에 여호와께 거제로 드릴지니라

17 The Lord said to Moses, 18 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land to which I am taking you 19 and you eat the food of the land, present a portion as an offering to the Lord. 20 Present a loaf from the first of your ground meal and present it as an offering from the threshing floor. 21 Throughout the generations to come you are to give this offering to the Lord from the first of your ground meal.

하나님께 반역을 저지른 이스라엘 백성들에게 내려진 40년간 광야를 떠도는 심판은 참으로 참담했습니다. 눈 앞에서 약속의 땅을 뒤로하고 다시 광야로 돌아가게 됩니다. 원망과 좌절과 후회가 몰려올 때 민수기 15장에서는 문맥상 살짝 쌩뚱맞게 갑자기 율법이 선포되는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 그리고 오늘 말씀을 통해 이것이 전혀 쌩뚱맞지 않고 오히려 하나님의 세심한 배려이자 소망 주심을 알 수 있습니다. 오늘 말씀 속에서 광야에서 만나는 세심한 하나님을 알아보길 원합니다.

The judgment given to the Israelites, who had rebelled against God, to wander the wilderness for 40 years was truly devastating. They turned away from the Promised Land that was right before them and returned to the wilderness. In Numbers 15, we see that when complaints, despair, and regret were likely overwhelming them, God suddenly proclaims laws—what may seem contextually out of place. But through today’s passage, we realize this is not out of place at all; rather, it is a tender expression of God’s care and the hope He offers. Through today’s message, I hope we can come to know the attentive God we meet in the wilderness.

먼저는 상황과 형편을 아시는 하나님입니다.

2절을 보면, “이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 그들에게 이르라 너희는 내가 주어 살게 할 땅에 들어가서”라고 나와있듯이 이것은 이스라엘 백성이 하나님의 약속의 땅인 가나안 땅에 들어가서 바쳐야 할 제사법입니다. 제사법은 이미 레위기 1장에서 7장까지 하나님이 시내산에서 모세에게 자세히 가르쳐주셨죠. 그래서 오늘 본문인 민수기 15장에서 ‘왜 다시 말씀하실까?’ 생각할 수 있습니다. 그러나 시내산에서 주어진 제사법은 목축과 농사가 불가능했던 광야 상황을 생각하시고 주신 제사법이었습니다. 그러니 이제 앞으로 가나안 땅에 들어가면 목축과 농사가 가능해지니 그 가나안 땅의 상황에 맞게 추가 보완되어 주신 완성된 제사법입니다. 그래서 가나안 땅에서는 양과 소 같은 짐승들을 번제나 화목제 등 하나님 앞에 드려질 때 추가로 소제의 밀가루와 전제의 포도주도 함께 바쳐야 한다는 것입니다. 하나님께서는 광야에서 밀이 없는데 밀가루를 바치라고 하시지 않습니다. 포도가 없는데 포도주를 바치라고 하시지 않습니다. 오히려 곡식이 없는 그들에게 친히 만나를 공급하시고 먹이시는 분이십니다.

First, God knows our situations and circumstances.

In verse 2, it says, "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'After you enter the land I am giving you as a home…'" This refers to the sacrificial laws the Israelites were to follow once they entered Canaan, the land God had promised them. These laws had already been given in detail in Leviticus chapters 1–7 when God spoke to Moses at Mount Sinai. So we might wonder, “Why repeat them in Numbers 15?” The sacrificial laws given at Mount Sinai were tailored to the wilderness, where agriculture and livestock farming weren’t feasible. But once the Israelites entered Canaan, they would be able to farm and raise livestock—so God gave them a more complete version of the laws, suited to their future life. For instance, when offering a burnt offering or fellowship offering, they were now also to include grain offerings (with flour) and drink offerings (with wine). God never asked them to offer flour when they had no wheat, or wine when they had no grapes. Instead, He fed them with manna, personally providing for them in the wilderness.

두 번째로 하나님은 광야 가운데 소망을 주시는 분이십니다.

40년을 광야에서 전전하게 된 출애굽 1세대 이스라엘 백성들은 그 각박한 삶 가운데 회의감과 좌절감에 휩싸였을 것입니다. 그들의 현실은 광야 가운데 결국 죽을 인생이었습니다. 그런 부모님을 바라보는 2세들이 어디서 희망을 얻을 수 있었을까요? 그런 그들에게 말씀하십니다. “내가 주어 살게 할 땅에 들어가서 (2절)” 그리고 “내가 인도하는 땅에 들어가거든 (18절).” 이 말씀은 곧 이 광야 생활의 끝이 있음을 알려주시는 것입니다. 그리고 그 끝에는 약속의 땅에 들어가 곡식을 거두어 떡을 만들고 포도를 가지고 포도주를 만들 날이 반드시 올 거란 겁니다. 그리하여 이들이 지금 속한 현실을 보면서 좌절하는 것이 아니라 하나님의 약속의 말씀을 기억하며 미래를 바라보며 나아갈 힘을 주십니다. 같은 마음으로 우리 또한 광야 같은 인생길을 이겨낼 방법은 신실하신 하나님의 약속의 말씀을 붙잡는 것입니다. 저는 저에게 두려움이 몰려올 때 마다 제가 붙드는 구절이 있습니다. 이사야서 41장 10절입니다. “두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 함이라 놀라지 말라 나는 네 하나님이 됨이라 내가 너를 굳세게 하리라 참으로 너를 도와 주리라 참으로 나의 의로운 오른손으로 너를 붙들리라.” 가끔 너무 두려워 두 눈이 어두워질 때 이 구절을 운운하며 “하나님 약속하셨죠? 기억하시죠? 도와주세요”하며 기도하곤 합니다. 여러분의 인생 구절은 무엇입니까? 우리가 길을 잃고 방황할 때 여러분을 붙들어주고 다시금 신실하신 하나님을 기억하게 도와주는 하나님의 약속말입니다.

Second, God gives hope in the wilderness.

The first generation of Israelites who left Egypt, now doomed to wander for 40 years, must have felt deep despair and disillusionment. They would die in the wilderness—and what hope could their children find watching their parents' fate? Yet God says, "When you enter the land I am giving you as a home” (v.2), and again, “When you enter the land to which I am bringing you” (v.18). These words tell them there is an end to the wilderness journey. A day will come when they will enter the Promised Land, harvest grain, bake bread, and make wine. This gave them strength not to be crushed by their present reality but to look forward in faith. Similarly, the way we overcome our own wilderness journeys is by clinging to God’s faithful promises. For me, when fear overwhelms me, I hold onto Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” When I'm too afraid and my vision darkens, I pray, repeating that verse: “God, You promised, remember? Please help me.” What’s your life verse? When we’re lost and wandering, God’s promises are what hold us up and help us remember His faithfulness.

세 번째로 모두의 구원을 계획하시는 하나님입니다.

제사법은 이스라엘 백성들에게 아주 중요했습니다. 이 율법을 지킨다는 것은 하나님의 언약의 백성이라는 정체성이었고 이를 지킴으로서 하나님이 약속하신 축복의 혜택을 누렸습니다. 그리고 이러한 혜택은 이스라엘 백성뿐만 아니라 그들과 함께 거류하는 타국인에게도 열려졌습니다. 15절 “회중 곧 너희에게나 거류하는 타국인에게나 같은 율례이니 너희의 대대로 영원한 율례라 너희가 어떠한 대로 타국인도 여호와 앞에 그러하리라.” 이것은 훗날 예수님을 통해서 예수님을 믿는 누구든지 하나님의 자녀가 될 수 있게 하시는 하나님의 크신 구원의 계획을 나타냅니다. 이제 우리는 더 이상 이러한 제사를 지내지 않아도 되는 은혜의 시대를 살고 있습니다. 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 죄를 위해 십자가에서 완전하고 완벽한 대속제물이 되어주심에 따라 우리의 죄가 사하여지고 하나님과 화목하게 됐다는 이 사실을 믿기만 하면 됩니다.

Third, God plans salvation to any people.

The sacrificial laws were crucial to the Israelites. Observing them signified that they were God’s covenant people and entitled them to His blessings. But these blessings weren’t limited to the Israelites. They were extended to foreigners living among them, too. Verse 15 says, “The community is to have the same rules for you and for the foreigner residing among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the Lord.” This foreshadows God’s grand plan of salvation through Jesus—that anyone who believes in Him can become a child of God. Today, we live in the age of grace, no longer needing to offer sacrifices, because Jesus Christ has already become the perfect and complete atonement for our sins on the cross. Our sins are forgiven, and we are reconciled to God simply by believing this truth.

마지막으로 참된 예배자로 세우시는 하나님입니다.

훗날 가나안 땅에 들어가서 제사를 통해 짐승을 하나님께 바칠 때, 그것이 어떠한 목적의 제사이건 간에 밀가루와 포도주가 함께 드려져야 하는데, 이때 이것을 진심으로 기쁘게 드리기를 원하시는 겁니다. 이렇게 가나안 땅에 들어간 후 제사법을 주시지 않고 광야에 있을 때 제사법을 주심으로써 얻는 이점이 두 가지 있습니다. 첫째는 앞에서 말했듯이 정말 가나안 땅에 들어가서 농사를 짓고 포도를 재배할 꿈과 희망을 주셨죠. 그리고 둘째로 정말 실제로 가나안 땅에 들어가 곡식을 수확할 때, “아 정말 하나님이 약속하신대로 이루셨구나 다 주셨구나!”하며 감사하며 기쁘게 드릴 수 있게 간증거리를 주시는거죠. 그전에 광야에 있었을 때는 드리고 싶어도 못드렸던 밀가루와 포도주를 이제는 하나님의 은혜로 들어온 약속의 땅에서 마음껏 수확하고 재배하게 됐으니, 그 은혜를 기억한다면 기쁘게 드려야 한다는 거죠. 그리고 보면 소제와 전제로 드리는 밀가루와 포도주의 양이 적지 않아요. 특히 소를 제물로 바칠 때는 가장 많은 밀가루, 그와 섞는 기름, 그리고 포도주가 요구됩니다. 그리고 또 21절에 “너희의 처음 익은 곡식 가루 떡을 대대에 여호와께 거제로 드릴지니라”라고 하시며 첫 수확물을 요구하십니다. 감사와 은혜를 잊은 자는 이것들이 아까울 수 밖에 없겠죠. 우리가 화장실 들어갈 때와 나올 때 마음이 달라지잖아요. 우리가 광야를 지날 때, 그렇게 열심히 눈물로 기도하고 하나님을 붙잡고 했는데, 정작 상황이 나아지고 좀 살만해 지면은 예전만큼 뜨겁게 예배를 드리지 않고 기도의 시간도 줄어들고 합니다. 우리가 가지고 있는 물질, 시간, 재능 등 우리 삶 모든 것이 하나님의 전적인 은혜임을 인정할 때, 우리는 온 맘 다해 감사와 찬양의 예배를 드릴 수 있을 것입니다.

Finally, God helps us become true worshipers.

When the Israelites would later enter the land of Canaan and offer animals to God through sacrifices—regardless of the type or purpose of the sacrifice—they were also to bring flour and wine alongside it. And God wanted them to offer these things joyfully and sincerely.

There are two key reasons why God gave these sacrificial laws not after entering Canaan, but while they were still in the wilderness: First, as mentioned earlier, it planted in them dreams and hopes of farming and cultivating vineyards once they reached the Promised Land.Second, when the time finally came and they actually harvested crops in Canaan, they could joyfully testify, “Ah, God has truly fulfilled His promise—He gave us all this!” It would become a testimony of gratitude. In the wilderness, they couldn’t offer flour and wine even if they wanted to, because those are scarced. But now, by God's grace, they would be able to harvest and cultivate freely in the Promised Land. And remembering that grace, they were to offer these things with joy. Also, if you look at the offerings—the grain and drink offerings—the amount of flour and wine wasn’t small. Especially when offering a bull, the required amounts of flour, oil, and wine were the greatest. Furthermore, in verse 21, God commands: “You are to give the Lord an offering from the first of your ground meal throughout the generations to come.” He asks for the first fruits of the harvest. For someone who has forgotten God's grace and goodness, these offerings would feel like a waste. It’s like how we often feel different going into the restroom and coming out—our attitude changes once our discomfort is resolved. When we were in our wilderness moments, we cried out to God with tears and held tightly to Him. But when things improve and life feels manageable again, our worship can cool, and our prayer life can shrink. However, when we truly recognize that everything we have—our money, time, talents, and entire lives—is purely by God’s grace, we will be able to offer Him a wholehearted worship of gratitude and praise.

요즘 여러분의 예배는 어떠하십니까? 현재 광야를 지나고 있는 중이라 힘이 없어 기도조차 나오지 않는 상황입니까? 그렇다면 신실하시고 선하신 하나님을 기억하십시요. 광야 생활의 끝은 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 약속의 땅입니다. 혹은 현재 편안한 삶에 안주하여 예배의 기쁨을 잃으셨습니까? 지금 내가 가진 모든 것 다 하나님께서 주셨음을 인정하고 과거부터 지금까지 어떻게 하나님이 인도하셨는지 다시금 기억해보시는 새벽되시길 기도드립니다. 우리의 상황과 형편을 아시는 하나님께서 우리에게 소망주시며 우리가 은혜를 기억하여 온 마음다해 예배할 때 기뻐 받아 주실 줄로 믿습니다.

How is your worship life these days? Are you in a wilderness season, so weary that you can’t even pray? Then remember the faithful and good God. The wilderness journey ends in a land flowing with milk and honey. Or have you grown complacent in comfort and lost the joy of worship? May this be a dawn where you reflect on everything God has given you, and remember how He has led you from the past to the present. I believe that when we acknowledge His grace, hold on to hope, and worship with our whole hearts, God will gladly receive our worship.
