104:10 여호와께서 샘을 골짜기에서 솟아나게 하시고 산 사이에 흐르게 하사

104:11 각종 들짐승에게 마시게 하시니 들나귀들도 해갈하며

104:12 공중의 새들도 그 가에서 깃들이며 나뭇가지 사이에서 지저귀는도다

104:13 그가 그의 누각에서부터 산에 물을 부어 주시니 주께서 하시는 일의 결실이 땅을 만족시켜 주는도다

104:14 그가 가축을 위한 풀과 사람을 위한 채소를 자라게 하시며 땅에서 먹을 것이 나게 하셔서

104:15 사람의 마음을 기쁘게 하는 포도주와 사람의 얼굴을 윤택하게 하는 기름과 사람의 마음을 힘있게 하는 양식을 주셨도다

104:16 여호와의 나무에는 물이 흡족함이여 곧 그가 심으신 레바논 백향목들이로다

104:17 새들이 그 속에 깃들임이여 학은 잣나무로 집을 삼는도다

104:18 높은 산들은 산양을 위함이여 바위는 너구리의 피난처로다

10 He makes springs pour water into the ravines;

    it flows between the mountains.

11 They give water to all the beasts of the field;

    the wild donkeys quench their thirst.

12 The birds of the sky nest by the waters;

    they sing among the branches.

13 He waters the mountains from his upper chambers;

    the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.

14 He makes grass grow for the cattle,

    and plants for people to cultivate—

    bringing forth food from the earth:

15 wine that gladdens human hearts,

    oil to make their faces shine,

    and bread that sustains their hearts.

16 The trees of the Lord are well watered,

    the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

17 There the birds make their nests;

    the stork has its home in the junipers.

18 The high mountains belong to the wild goats;

    the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.

104:20 주께서 흑암을 지어 밤이 되게 하시니 삼림의 모든 짐승이 기어 나오나이다

104:21 젊은 사자들은 그들의 먹이를 쫓아 부르짖으며 그들의 먹이를 하나님께 구하다가

104:22 해가 돋으면 물러가서 그들의 굴 속에 눕고

104:23 사람은 나와서 일하며 저녁까지 수고하는도다

19 He made the moon to mark the seasons,

    and the sun knows when to go down.

20 You bring darkness, it becomes night,

    and all the beasts of the forest prowl.

21 The lions roar for their prey

    and seek their food from God.

22 The sun rises, and they steal away;

    they return and lie down in their dens.

23 Then people go out to their work,

    to their labor until evening.

어제 우리는 천지를 질서있게 세우신 창조주 하나님에 대해 말씀을 나누고 찬양했습니다. 오늘 본문은 그 질서 안에서 생명이 어떻게 유지되며 살아가는지에 대해서 구체적으로 알려주고 있습니다. 시인은 광야와 산, 들짐승과 작은 새, 사람의 식탁과 기쁨, 시간의 질서 속에 하나님의 공급과 통치를 찬양합니다. 이처럼 우리는 일상 속에서 하나님의 세세한 손길이 깃들어 있음을 알 수 있는데요. 그렇다면 우리는 이렇게 하나님이 세우신 질서 안에서 어떻게 살아가야 할까요?

Yesterday, we shared and praised God the Creator who established the heavens and the earth in order. Today’s passage explains in detail how life is sustained and lived within that order. The psalmist praises God’s provision and rule seen in the wilderness and the mountains, in wild animals and small birds, in the tables and joys of people, and in the order of time. In this way, we can recognize that God’s intricate touch is present in our daily lives. So then, how should we live within the order that God has established?

첫째로 우리는 하나님의 공급하심에 감사해야 합니다. (10-18절)

시편 기자는 오늘 본문 전반적으로 피조 세계를 돌보시는 하나님을 찬양합니다. 먼저 하나님은 물을 통해 피조물들의 생명을 돌보십니다. 물은 생명을 유지하기위해 꼭 필요한 필수 조건입니다. 그래서 구약에서 샘은 생명이 위협받는 자리에서 새롭게 공급되는 은혜의 표지로, 생명을 유지시키는 하나님의 돌보심을 상징합니다. 10절은 여호와께서 샘을 골짜기에서 솟아나게 하시고 산 사이로 흐르게 하신다고 말합니다. 그리고 그 샘을 통해 들짐승, 들나귀, 그리고 공중의 새들까지 하나님의 보살핌을 받습니다. 그리고 13절에 하나님이 산에 부어주신 물을 통해 땅이 결실을 맺고 가축도 사람도 먹을 것을 얻습니다. 14절에 ‘땅에서 먹을 것이 나게 하신다’는 표현은 생산의 주체가 인간의 노동이나 자연의 자생력이 아니라 오직 하나님이심을 말해줍니다. 이렇듯 생명을 유지하는 조건은 하나님의 지속적 일하심에서 비롯됩니다. 다음으로 15절에는 하나님의 공급이 생존을 채우는 수단에서 더 나아가 인간의 내적 충만으로 이어집니다. 포도주와 기름은 인간의 삶에 기쁨과 윤택함을 채웁니다. 즉 하나님의 돌보심이 단순히 삶을 유지하는데에 그치지 않고, 내면 속 기쁨과 힘을 얻는데까지 다 다루심을 알 수 있습니다. 마지막으로 하나님의 돌보심은 피조물이 머무는 공간까지 확장됩니다. 17절에 하나님의 돌보심이 나무 자체에 머물지 않고, 그 안에 깃드는 새들에게까지 머뭅니다. 이는 각 피조물에게 합당한 거처를 하나님께서 마련하신다는 뜻입니다. 18절에는 높은 산들은 산양을 위해, 바위는 너구리의 피난처가 됩니다. 즉 하나님은 각 생명에게 합당한 거처를 제공하십니다.

First, we must give thanks for God’s provision. (vv. 10–18)The psalmist throughout this passage praises God who cares for all creation. First, God sustains the lives of His creatures through water. Water is an essential condition for sustaining life. Therefore, in the Old Testament, a spring symbolizes God’s care that preserves life and serves as a sign of grace newly provided in places where life is threatened. Verse 10 says that the Lord makes springs gush forth in the valleys and flow between the mountains. Through these springs, wild animals, wild donkeys, and even the birds of the air receive God’s care. In verse 13, through the water God pours on the mountains, the earth produces fruit, and both livestock and people receive food. The phrase in verse 14, “He causes food to come from the earth,” shows that the source of production is not human labor or the natural power of the earth, but God alone. In this way, the conditions that sustain life come from God’s continual work. Next, verse 15 shows that God’s provision goes beyond mere survival and leads to inner fullness in human life. Wine and oil bring joy and richness to life. This means that God’s care not only sustains life but also fills our inner being with joy and strength. Lastly, God’s care extends even to the dwelling places of His creatures. In verse 17, His care is not limited to the trees themselves but extends to the birds that nest in them. This means that God provides a fitting dwelling place for each creature. In verse 18, the high mountains are for the wild goats, and the rocks are a refuge for the hyrax. In other words, God provides an appropriate place for every living being.

두번째로 우리는 하나님이 정하신 질서 안에서 일하고 쉬어야 합니다. (19-23절)

하나님께서 시간의 질서를 세우시고 이를 통해 피조물을 돌보십니다. 먼저 19절에서 달은 절기를 정하는 기준이고, 해는 지는 때를 아는 존재로 묘사됩니다. ‘절기’는 삶의 리듬과 공동체의 시간을 형성하는 질서입니다. 즉 시간의 흐름이 하나님의 통치 안에 놓여 있다는 의미입니다. 20절에 나오는 ‘흑암’은 마치 낮과 대비되어 위협과 죽음의 시간으로 인식되지만, 시편 기자는 그 밤마저 하나님의 주권 아래에 있음을 알려줍니다. 그리고 밤에 먹이를 찾아 활보하는 짐승들 또한 하나님의 보살핌을 받습니다. 이처럼 밤에 활동하는 짐승이든 낮에 일하는 인간이든 다 각자 하나님의 섭리 아래에서 일할 때와 쉴 때를 알고 조화롭게 살아갑니다.

Second, we must work and rest within the order God has set. (vv. 19–23)

God establishes the order of time and cares for His creation through it. In verse 19, the moon marks the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. “Seasons” refer to the rhythms of life and the ordering of communal time. This means that the flow of time itself is under God’s rule. The “darkness” mentioned in verse 20 may be perceived as a time of threat and death in contrast to the day, but the psalmist tells us that even the night is under God’s sovereignty. The animals that roam at night in search of food are also under His care. In this way, whether animals that are active at night or humans who work during the day, all live in harmony under God’s providence, knowing when to work and when to rest.

여러분, 정말 일할 때 일하시고 쉴 때 잘 쉬시나요? 막상 쉴 때 밀려오는 고민과 걱정 때문에 마음 편히 쉬지 못할 때도 너무 많지 않습니까? 또는 정처없이 휴대폰을 들여다보면서 뇌와 눈이 쉴 틈을 주고 있지는 않은지 모르겠습니다. 예수님께서 말씀하십니다. “그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라 목숨이 음식보다 중하지 아니하며 몸이 의복보다 중하지 아니하냐”(마 6:25). 공중에 나는 새보다 들판에 피는 꽃보다 우리가 소중하다고 하십니다. 내일 일을 위해서 염려하지 말라고 말씀하십니다. 우리가 하나님의 공급과 질서 안에서 하나님을 온전히 믿는 것, 그것은 바로 우리가 얼마만큼 하나님 안에서 평안함을 누리며 쉴 수 있는지에 드러날 것입니다. “너희는 가만히 있어 내가 하나님 됨을 알지어다” (시 46:10). 아멘! 걱정과 근심 모두 내려놓고 우리를 돌보시며 모든 것을 조율하시는 하나님을 바라보는 오늘 하루 되기를 기도드립니다.

Everyone, are you truly working when it is time to work and resting well when it is time to rest? Isn’t it often the case that when we try to rest, worries and concerns rush in and keep us from truly resting? Or perhaps we find ourselves endlessly looking at our phones, not giving our minds and eyes a chance to rest. Jesus says, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (Matthew 6:25). He tells us that we are more valuable than the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. He tells us not to worry about tomorrow. Fully trusting in God’s provision and order is revealed in how much peace we are able to enjoy and how well we are able to rest in Him. “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Amen. I pray that today would be a day where we lay down all our worries and concerns, and fix our eyes on God, who cares for us and orchestrates all things.
