13:18 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 사람의 영혼을 사냥하려고 손목마다 부적을 꿰어 매고 키가 큰 자나 작은 자의 머리를 위하여 수건을 만드는 여자들에게 화 있을진저 너희가 어찌하여 내 백성의 영혼은 사냥하면서 자기를 위하여는 영혼을 살리려 하느냐

13:19 너희가 두어 움큼 보리와 두어 조각 떡을 위하여 나를 내 백성 가운데에서 욕되게 하여 거짓말을 곧이 듣는 내 백성에게 너희가 거짓말을 지어내어 죽지 아니할 영혼을 죽이고 살지 못할 영혼을 살리는도다

17 “Now, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them 18 and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? 19 You have profaned me among my people for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.

13:20 그러므로 나 주 여호와가 이같이 말하노라 너희가 새를 사냥하듯 영혼들을 사냥하는 그 부적을 내가 너희 팔에서 떼어 버리고 너희가 새처럼 사냥한 그 영혼들을 놓아주며

13:21 또 너희 수건을 찢고 내 백성을 너희 손에서 건지고 다시는 너희 손에 사냥물이 되지 아니하게 하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라

13:22 내가 슬프게 하지 아니한 의인의 마음을 너희가 거짓말로 근심하게 하며 너희가 또 악인의 손을 굳게 하여 그 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠나 삶을 얻지 못하게 하였은즉

13:23 너희가 다시는 허탄한 묵시를 보지 못하고 점복도 못할지라 내가 내 백성을 너희 손에서 건져내리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라 하라

20 “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds. 21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 22 Because you disheartened the righteous with your lies, when I had brought them no grief, and because you encouraged the wicked not to turn from their evil ways and so save their lives, 23 therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will save my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

                  “테이큰”이라고 하는 액션 영화가 있습니다. 영화 “미션,” “쉰들러 리스트” 등으로 유명한 리암니슨이라는 배우가 주연인데요. 그는 영화의 시나리오를 받아보고 단순한 B급 액션영화라고 생각했답니다. 그래서 개봉하면 아마도 비디오 시장이나 스트리밍으로 바로 넘어갈 거라고 생각했다고 해요. 그도 그럴 것이 리암 니슨은 원래 액션 배우가 아니라 드라마 배우였고 이 영화를 찍을 때 이미 나이가 50대 중반이어서 이게 되겠나 싶었대요. 그런데 납치된 딸을 구하기 위해 목숨을 거는 아버지의 추격전을 다루는 이 영화는 그의 예상을 깨고 전 세계적으로 크게 흥행을 하게 됩니다. B급 저예산 영화가 들어간 돈의 10배가 넘는 수익을 올렸으니 그야말로 대박이 났지요. 이렇게 모두의 예상을 깨고 이 영화가 성공 할 수 있었던 비결은 아마도 스토리에 있지 않나 싶습니다. 사랑하는 자식을 위해서 악당들의 본진으로 망설임 없이 뛰어들어가 그 딸을 건져내는 아버지의 모습에 많은 사람들이 매료된 것이지요. 우리에게도 그런 아버지가 있습니다. 사랑하는 자기 백성을 위하여 자신의 모든 것을 버리시고 죄악에 물든 이 땅에 내려와 우리를 건져내시는 분이 바로 우리 하나님이시지요. 오늘 말씀도 마찬가지입니다. 하나님께서는 거짓 예언을 하는 여자들에게 경고하십니다. 그리고 그들의 거짓에 붙잡혀 있는 당신의 백성을 건져내십니다. 오늘은 자기 백성을 건져내시는 하나님이라는 제목으로 말씀을 전하기 원합니다.

There's an action movie called "Taken" starring Liam Neeson, an actor famous for films like "Mission" and "Schindler's List." Neeson reportedly thought the script was for a simple B-grade action flick, and he expected it to go straight to video or streaming. After all, he was primarily a dramatic actor, and he was already in his mid-50s when he made the movie. He had his doubts about whether it would work.

But the film, which follows a father's desperate chase to save his kidnapped daughter, defied his expectations and became a huge worldwide success. It was a blockbuster that earned more than ten times its low budget. The secret to its unexpected success was arguably its story. Many people were captivated by the image of a father who, without hesitation, plunges into the villains' lair to rescue his beloved daughter.

We have a similar Father. Our God is the One who, for the sake of His beloved people, gave up everything to come down to this sin-soaked world and rescue us. Today’s passage from Ezekiel is much the same. God warns the false women prophets and then rescues His people who are caught in their web of lies. Today, I want to preach on the topic, "A God Who Rescues His People."

                  자기 백성을 건져내시는 하나님 그 첫번째, 악당의 실체가 무엇인지를 드러내십니다. 어제의 말씀에 이어 오늘 말씀도 거짓 예언하는 사람들, 특별히 여자들에 대한 경고를 담고 있습니다. 17절을 보면 하나님께서는 그들도 어제와 마찬가지로 “자기 마음대로 예언하는 여자들”이라고 말씀하시지요. 그들은 하나님의 말씀을 대언하는 자들이 아니라 자기 마음대로 이야기하는 자들이라는 것을 가장 먼저 드러내십니다. 그리고는 진짜 하나님의 말씀으로 그들이 하고 있는 일의 참상을 드러내십니다. 18절 함께 읽어보겠습니다. “이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 사람의 영혼을 사냥하려고 손목마다 부적을 꿰어 메고 키가 큰 자나 작은 자의 머리를 위하여 수건을 만드는 여자들에게 화 있을진저” 자 이들이 하는 일이 무엇이라고 말씀하십니까? ‘사람의 영혼을 사냥한다’ 라고 말씀하십니다. 어제 말씀의 남자 거짓 예언자들은 회 칠하는 자들이라고 하셨습니다. 그들이 거짓 평안을 말하는 것에 분노하셨지요. 그런데 오늘 말씀의 여자 거짓 예언자들은 영혼을 사냥하는 자라고 하십니다. 왜 그럴까요? 이것은 그들이 하고 있는 손목의 부적을 꿰어메고 수건을 머리에 쓰는 행위가 당시에 바벨론 주술 의식을 본 딴 것이기 때문입니다. 그들은 하나님이 엄격하게 금하신 주술의식을 하나님의 이름으로 행하여 사람들을 현혹시키고 있던 것입니다. 그런데 더 기가 차는 것은 이런 목숨을 건 주술 행위를 무엇 때문에 하고 있습니까? 19절 보시겠습니다. “너희가 두어 움큼 보리와 두어 조각 떡을 위하여 나를 내 백성 가운데에서 욕되게 하며” 하나님을 욕되게 하는 이 중대한 죄악을 고작 보리 한 줌과 빵 몇 조각 얻고자 했다는 사실이 실로 충격적입니다. 겉으로는 아주 신령하고 능력있는 주술사의 모습을 하고 있지만 정작 이들의 진짜 모습은 하찮은 이득을 위해 사람의 영혼을 사냥하고 하나님을 욕되게 하는 사람들인 것입니다. 이렇게 하나님은 그들의 실체를 드러내심으로 자기 백성이 속지 않도록 보호하십니다.

God Reveals the True Nature of the Enemy

The first way God rescues His people is by revealing the true nature of the enemy. Like yesterday's passage, today’s verses warn against false prophets, specifically women. In verse 17, God calls them "the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination," just as He did with the men yesterday. He first reveals that they are not speaking on His behalf but are speaking whatever comes into their own minds.

Then, with His true Word, God exposes the horrifying reality of what they are doing. Let's read verse 18 together: "Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew magic bands upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature, in order to hunt souls!"

What does God say they are doing? He says they are "hunting souls." Yesterday, the male false prophets were called "whitewashers" for speaking false peace, and God was angry about that. But today, the female false prophets are called "soul hunters." Why? Because their actions of sewing magic bands on wrists and making veils for heads are based on the Babylonian magical rituals of that time—rituals that God had strictly forbidden. They were using forbidden magic in God's name to deceive the people.

And what's even more shocking is the reason for all this life-threatening sorcery. Look at verse 19: "You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread." The fact that they committed this great sin of profaning God for just a handful of barley and a few pieces of bread is truly astonishing. On the surface, they may have appeared as powerful, spiritual sorcerers, but their true identity was that of people who hunted souls and disgraced God for petty gain. By revealing their true nature, God protects His people from being deceived.

                  자기 백성을 건져내시는 하나님 그 두번째, 사냥꾼의 덫을 제거하시고 백성을 구출하십니다. 20-21절은 하나님께서 여자 주술사들의 손에서 그들의 사냥 도구를 제거하시는 모습을 보여줍니다. 20절 “영혼들을 사냥하는 그 부적을 내가 너희 팔에서 떼어 버리고.” 21절, “또 너희 수건을 찢고.” 앞에서 말씀드렸던 사람을 미혹시키는 그들의 주술 도구들을 하나님께서 떼어버리고 찢어버리신다고 선포하시지요. 그렇게 함으로써 덫에 걸리고 사냥당한 당신의 백성들의 영혼을 구출하십니다. 20절 “너희가 새처럼 사냥한 그 영혼들을 놓아주며.” 21절, “내 백성을 너희 손에서 건지고 다시는 너희 손에 사냥물이 되지 아니하게 하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라.” 당신의 백성을 놓아주시고 건지시며 다시는 그들의 손에 넘기지 않으시겠다고 하십니다. 이 말씀들은 하나님께서 당신의 백성들을 어떻게 생각하시는지를 보여줍니다. 우리는 지금까지 에스겔서를 함께 묵상하면서 이들이 얼마나 많은 가증한 죄악으로 하나님의 마음을 아프게 했는지를 보았었습니다. 그렇다면 그들이 주술사들의 손아귀에 놀아나든 말든 상관하지 않으셔도 될 것입니다. 그런데 오늘 말씀에 하나님께서는 “내 백성”이라는 말씀을 유독 많이 하십니다. 18절 “너희가 어찌하여 내 백성의 영혼은 사냥하면서” 19절, “나를 내 백성 가운데에서 욕되게 하여,” “거짓말을 곧이 듣는 내 백성에게 너희가 거짓말을 지어내어” 21절, “내 백성을 너희 손에서 건지고” 23절, “내가 내 백성을 너희 손에서 건져내리니.” 이스라엘 백성들이 그렇게 가증한 죄악들과 우상숭배로 하나님의 마음을 아프게 하였음에도 불구하고 아직도 하나님은 그들을 내 백성이라고 부르시는 것입니다. 22절 하반절을 한 번 보십시오. 하나님께서 여선지자들을 경고하시면서 하시는 말씀인데 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “너의가 또 악인의 손을 굳게 하여 그 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠나 삶을 얻지 못하게 하였은즉” 그들이 악한 사람의 손을 강하게 하였다고 합니다. 그래서 그들이 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠나 어떻게 하지 못하게 했다고요? 생명을 얻지 못하게 했다고 분노하십니다. 이는 무슨 말입니까? 하나님께서는 악인조차 악한 길에서 떠나 삶을 얻기를 원하신다는 것입니다. 이것이 바로 하나님께서 에스겔에게 지금까지 말씀하신 모든 경고와 예언의 목적인 것입니다. 그래서 오늘 말씀에 하나님께서는 당신께서 직접 주술사들의 부적과 수건을 떼어버리고 찢으시겠다고 하십니다. 그들의 손에서 당신의 백성들을 풀어 놓아주겠다고 하십니다. 다시는 그들의 사냥물이 되지 아니하게 하시겠다고 하십니다.

God Removes the Hunter's Trap and Rescues His People

The second way God rescues His people is by removing the hunter's trap and rescuing His people. Verses 20-21 show God removing the hunting tools from the women sorcerers' hands. Verse 20 says, "I will tear the magic bands from your arms, and will let the souls whom you hunt go free." And verse 21 says, "I will tear off your veils."

God declares that He will tear off and rip up the very magical tools they used to deceive people. By doing so, He rescues the souls of His people who were trapped and hunted. Verse 20 continues, "I will let the souls whom you hunt go free like birds." And verse 21 adds, "I will deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no longer a prey in your hand; and you shall know that I am the Lord."

He promises to release His people, deliver them, and ensure they will never again be their prey. These words reveal how God feels about His people. As we've been studying Ezekiel, we've seen how much they have hurt God’s heart with their abominable sins. You would think God might not care what happens to them, even if they fall into the hands of sorcerers.

But in today's passage, God repeatedly refers to them as "My people."

• Verse 18: "Why do you hunt the souls of my people?"

• Verse 19: "You have profaned me among my people."

• Verse 21: "I will deliver my people out of your hand."

• Verse 23: "I will deliver my people out of your hands."

Even though the Israelites had grieved God's heart with their terrible sins and idolatry, God still calls them "My people." Look at the end of verse 22. When God warns the women prophets, He says, "Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not disheartened him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his wicked way to save his life."

What does this mean? God is angry that they have "encouraged the wicked," preventing them from turning away from their evil path to "save his life." This shows that God wants even the wicked to turn away from their evil ways and live. This has been the purpose of all God’s warnings and prophecies to Ezekiel. That’s why, in today's passage, God says He will personally tear off and rip up the sorcerers' magic bands and veils. He will release His people from their hands and ensure they will never be their prey again.

                  말씀을 맺습니다. 하나님께서는 자기 백성을 건져내시는 하나님이십니다. 오늘 말씀에 사람들을 주술로 현혹하여 하나님의 말씀을 듣지 못하게 하는 거짓 선지자들의 실체를 하나님께서는 폭로하십니다. 그리고 그들의 주술 도구들인 부적과 수건을 찢으시겠다고 하십니다. 그리고 그들의 거짓된 손아귀에서부터 당신의 백성을 건지시며 다시는 이 같은 일이 반복되게 하지 않으시겠다고 선포하십니다. 하나님께 이스라엘은 언제나 내 백성이었습니다. 죄악에 물들고 더럽혀졌어도 하나님께서는 당신의 백성을 포기하지 않으십니다. 하나님께서는 그들이 당신의 말씀을 듣고 악한 길에서 돌이켜 떠나 영생을 얻기를 원하셨습니다. 자기 백성을 건져내시는 하나님. 자기 백성을 포기 하지 않으시는 하나님께 이시간 다함께 기도하기 하기 원합니다.

Conclusion

God is a God who rescues His people. In this passage, God exposes the true identity of the false prophets who used sorcery to deceive people and prevent them from hearing God's Word. He says He will tear up their magical tools—the bands and the veils—and rescue His people from their deceptive grasp, declaring that this will never happen again.

To God, Israel was always His people. Even when they were soiled and corrupted by sin, God did not give up on them. He wanted them to listen to His words, turn from their wicked ways, and gain eternal life.

A God who rescues His people. A God who never gives up on His people. Let us pray together now to this God.
