12:1 또 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되

12:2 인자야 네가 반역하는 족속 중에 거주하는도다 그들은 볼 눈이 있어도 보지 아니하고 들을 귀가 있어도 듣지 아니하나니 그들은 반역하는 족속임이라

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.

12:3 인자야 너는 포로의 행장을 꾸리고 낮에 그들의 목전에서 끌려가라 네가 네 처소를 다른 곳으로 옮기는 것을 그들이 보면 비록 반역하는 족속이라도 혹 생각이 있으리라

12:4 너는 낮에 그들의 목전에서 네 포로의 행장을 밖에 내놓기를 끌려가는 포로의 행장 같이 하고 저물 때에 너는 그들의 목전에서 밖으로 나가기를 포로되어 가는 자 같이 하라

12:5 너는 그들의 목전에서 성벽을 뚫고 그리로 따라 옮기되

12:6 캄캄할 때에 그들의 목전에서 어깨에 메고 나가며 얼굴을 가리고 땅을 보지 말지어다 이는 내가 너를 세워 이스라엘 족속에게 징조가 되게 함이라 하시기로

3 “Therefore, son of man, pack your belongings for exile and in the daytime, as they watch, set out and go from where you are to another place. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious people. 4 During the daytime, while they watch, bring out your belongings packed for exile. Then in the evening, while they are watching, go out like those who go into exile. 5 While they watch, dig through the wall and take your belongings out through it. 6 Put them on your shoulder as they are watching and carry them out at dusk. Cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have made you a sign to the Israelites.”

12:7 내가 그 명령대로 행하여 낮에 나의 행장을 끌려가는 포로의 행장 같이 내놓고 저물 때에 내 손으로 성벽을 뚫고 캄캄할 때에 행장을 내다가 그들의 목전에서 어깨에 메고 나가니라

7 So I did as I was commanded. During the day I brought out my things packed for exile. Then in the evening I dug through the wall with my hands. I took my belongings out at dusk, carrying them on my shoulders while they watched.

12:8 이튿날 아침에 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되

12:9 인자야 이스라엘 족속 곧 그 반역하는 족속이 네게 묻기를 무엇을 하느냐 하지 아니하더냐

8 In the morning the word of the Lord came to me: 9 “Son of man, did not the Israelites, that rebellious people, ask you, ‘What are you doing?’

12:10 너는 그들에게 말하기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 이것은 예루살렘 왕과 그 가운데에 있는 이스라엘 온 족속에 대한 묵시라 하셨다 하고

12:11 또 말하기를 나는 너희 징조라 내가 행한 대로 그들도 포로로 사로잡혀 가리라

10 “Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: This prophecy concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the Israelites who are there.’ 11 Say to them, ‘I am a sign to you.’

“As I have done, so it will be done to them. They will go into exile as captives.

12:12 무리가 성벽을 뚫고 행장을 그리로 가지고 나가고 그 중에 왕은 어두울 때에 어깨에 행장을 메고 나가며 눈으로 땅을 보지 아니하려고 자기 얼굴을 가리리라 하라

12:13 내가 또 내 그물을 그의 위에 치고 내 올무에 걸리게 하여 그를 끌고 갈대아 땅 바벨론에 이르리니 그가 거기에서 죽으려니와 그 땅을 보지 못하리라

12:14 내가 그 호위하는 자와 부대들을 다 사방으로 흩고 또 그 뒤를 따라 칼을 빼리라

12 “The prince among them will put his things on his shoulder at dusk and leave, and a hole will be dug in the wall for him to go through. He will cover his face so that he cannot see the land. 13 I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare; I will bring him to Babylonia, the land of the Chaldeans, but he will not see it, and there he will die. 14 I will scatter to the winds all those around him—his staff and all his troops—and I will pursue them with drawn sword.

12:15 내가 그들을 이방인 가운데로 흩으며 여러 나라 가운데에 헤친 후에야 내가 여호와인 줄을 그들이 알리라

12:16 그러나 내가 그 중 몇 사람을 남겨 칼과 기근과 전염병에서 벗어나게 하여 그들이 이르는 이방인 가운데에서 자기의 모든 가증한 일을 자백하게 하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 그들이 알리라

15 “They will know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries. 16 But I will spare a few of them from the sword, famine and plague, so that in the nations where they go they may acknowledge all their detestable practices. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

12:17 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되

12:18 인자야 너는 떨면서 네 음식을 먹고 놀라고 근심하면서 네 물을 마시며

12:19 이 땅 백성에게 말하되 주 여호와께서 예루살렘 주민과 이스라엘 땅에 대하여 이르시기를 그들이 근심하면서 그 음식을 먹으며 놀라면서 그 물을 마실 것은 이 땅 모든 주민의 포악으로 말미암아 땅에 가득한 것이 황폐하게 됨이라

12:20 사람이 거주하는 성읍들이 황폐하며 땅이 적막하리니 내가 여호와인 줄을 너희가 알리라 하셨다 하라

17 The word of the Lord came to me: 18 “Son of man, tremble as you eat your food, and shudder in fear as you drink your water. 19 Say to the people of the land: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: They will eat their food in anxiety and drink their water in despair, for their land will be stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who live there. 20 The inhabited towns will be laid waste and the land will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

12:21 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되

12:22 인자야 이스라엘 땅에서 이르기를 날이 더디고 모든 묵시가 사라지리라 하는 너희의 이 속담이 어찌 됨이냐

12:23 그러므로 너는 그들에게 이르기를 주 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 내가 이 속담을 그치게 하리니 사람이 다시는 이스라엘 가운데에서 이 속담을 사용하지 못하리라 하셨다 하고 또 그들에게 이르기를 날과 모든 묵시의 응함이 가까우니

12:24 이스라엘 족속 중에 허탄한 묵시나 아첨하는 복술이 다시 있지 못하리라 하라

12:25 나는 여호와라 내가 말하리니 내가 하는 말이 다시는 더디지 아니하고 응하리라 반역하는 족속이여 내가 너희 생전에 말하고 이루리라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라 하셨다 하라

There Will Be No Delay

21 The word of the Lord came to me: 22 “Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’? 23 Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to put an end to this proverb, and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’ Say to them, ‘The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled. 24 For there will be no more false visions or flattering divinations among the people of Israel. 25 But I the Lord will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious people, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

12:26 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되

12:27 인자야 이스라엘 족속의 말이 그가 보는 묵시는 여러 날 후의 일이라 그가 멀리 있는 때에 대하여 예언하였다 하느니라

26 The word of the Lord came to me: 27 “Son of man, the Israelites are saying, ‘The vision he sees is for many years from now, and he prophesies about the distant future.’

12:28 그러므로 너는 그들에게 이르기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 나의 말이 하나도 다시 더디지 아니할지니 내가 한 말이 이루어지리라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라 하라

28 “Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

에스겔 12장에는 다섯번의 여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 이르시되(1, 8, 17, 21, 26절)라는 구문이 등장합니다. 어제 본문인 1~16절은 에스겔 선지자에게 포로의 짐을 꾸려서 몰래 성벽을 빠져나가는 행동을 하라는 하나님의 명령(1~7절)과 그 행위에 대한 해석(8~16절)을 기록하고 있습니다.

에스겔의 독특한 행동은 앞으로 유다 마지막 왕인 시드기야에게 벌어질 일에 대한 예언적 행동이었습니다.

결국 에스겔의 예언대로 시드기야는 모든 군사를 이끌고 야반도주를 하던 도중에 갈대아 군인들에게 사로잡히고 맙니다. 그후에 벌어진 처참한 사건에 대해서 열왕기서 저자는 다음과 같이 기록합니다.

그들이 왕을 사로잡아 그를 립나에 있는 바벨론 왕에게로 끌고 가매 그들이 그를 심문하니라

그들이 시드기야의 아들들을 그의 눈앞에서 죽이고 시드기야의 두 눈을 빼고

놋 사슬로 그를 결박하여 바벨론으로 끌고 갔더라 (왕하 25:6~7)

참으로 처참하고 안타까운 왕의 최후요, 왕국의 최후입니다. 12장 전반부는 이와같이 곧 있으면 벌어질 유다 왕과 유다 왕궁의 최후에 대한 예언적인 행동과 그 해석이었습니다. 12장 후반부인 오늘 본문은 세번의 여호와의 말씀이 곧 내게 임하여 이르시되를 통해서 하나님이 어떤 분이신지를 알게 합니다.

In Ezekiel chapter 12, the phrase “The word of the Lord came to me” appears five times (verses 1, 8, 17, 21, 26). Yesterday’s passage, verses 1–16, records God’s command to the prophet Ezekiel to pack his belongings as though going into exile and to secretly escape through a hole in the wall (verses 1–7), along with an interpretation of this symbolic act (verses 8–16).

Ezekiel’s unusual actions were a prophetic sign of what would soon happen to Zedekiah, the last king of Judah.

As Ezekiel had prophesied, Zedekiah attempted to flee at night with all his troops, but was captured by the Chaldean army. The author of Kings records the horrifying events that followed:

This was indeed a tragic and dreadful end for the king—and for the kingdom. The first half of chapter 12 presents a prophetic action and interpretation foretelling the imminent downfall of Judah’s king and royal palace. In the second half of the chapter—today’s passage—through three more occurrences of “The word of the Lord came to me,” we come to understand more clearly who God is.

첫번째로 우리 하나님은 말씀하시는 하나님입니다(17~20절).

하나님은 언제나 살아계셔서 말씀하시는 분입니다. 말씀한다는 것은 곧 살아있다는 것입니다. 하나님은 에스겔에게 떨면서 음식을 먹고, 놀라고 근심하면서 물을 마실 것을 지시합니다. 하나님은 왜 이런 명령을 하시는 것일까요? 이는 곧 있으면 예루살렘 성에 닥칠 전쟁의 공포를 표현하는 행위 예언입니다.

잠시후면 반역하는 족속 이스라엘은 바벨론의 공격으로 인하여 떨면서 음식을 먹고 마실 것입니다. 그리고 이런 재앙이 닥친 원인은 이 땅 모든 주민의 포악 때문입니다(19). 우상숭배와 연약한 존재인 과부나 고아에 대한 무자비함은 하나님의 심판을 앞 당기는 것입니다.

우리 하나님은 살아서 말씀 하시는 하나님이시며, 말씀이신 하나님은 친히 우리와 같은 인간이 되셨습니다. 그래서 예수님은 하나님의 말씀 자체, 말씀 덩어리입니다. 지금도 하나님은 끊임없이 우리에게 말씀 하십니다. 그 하나님과 우리는 말씀과 기도로 교통하고 대화해야 합니다.

한편 이 단락을 통해서 얻게 되는 교훈은 크리스천은 삶 자체가 하나님의 메시지가 되어야 한다는 사실입니다. 구약의 많은 선지자들의 삶이 그랬습니다. 그들은 말뿐 아니라 삶 자체가 하나님의 메세지가 되었습니다. 기독교가 실패한 부분이 이 부분이라고 생각합니다. 신앙이 어린 자들에게 먼저 믿은 자들이 본이 되지 못했습니다. 입으로는 하나님의 메시지를 전하는데, 삶은 그렇지 못한 것입니다.

여기에서 문제가 발생하는 것입니다. 하나님의 말씀이 어떤 것이든, 우리는 선지자들처럼 순종해야 하는데, 그렇게 하지 못한 것입니다. 이는 다음세대, 믿음이 어린 사람들에게 좋지 못한 영향력을 끼칩니다.

명심해야 합니다. 우리의 삶이 하나님의 메시지입니다. 

First, our God is a God who speaks (verses 17–20).

God is always alive and actively speaking. To speak is to be alive. God instructs Ezekiel to eat his food trembling and to drink his water with fear and anxiety. Why does God give such a command? This is a prophetic act expressing the terror that will soon descend upon the city of Jerusalem during the coming war.

In just a short time, the rebellious people of Israel will eat and drink in fear because of the Babylonian invasion. And the cause of this disaster is the violence of all who dwell in the land (v. 19). Idolatry and cruelty toward the vulnerable—such as widows and orphans—hasten the judgment of God.

Our God is the living God who speaks. And the God who speaks became a human like us. Jesus is the Word of God in flesh—the Word incarnate. Even now, God is continually speaking to us. We are to respond to Him through His Word and prayer, engaging in communion and conversation with Him.

This passage also teaches us an important lesson: the life of a Christian must be a message from God. This was true for many prophets in the Old Testament. Their lives were not only about spoken messages, but their very existence became God’s message to the people.

I believe this is one area where Christianity has often failed. Those who believed first have not always served as good examples for the younger in faith. They may proclaim God’s message with their lips, but their lives do not reflect it.

This is where the problem begins. Whatever God says, we must obey like the prophets did—but too often we fail to do so. And that disobedience negatively impacts the next generation and those who are still young in faith.

Let us remember this clearly:Our lives are God's message.

두번째로 우리 하나님은 들으시는 하나님입니다(21~25절).

이스라엘 사람들는 날이 더디고 모든 묵시는 사라지리라(22)라는 비아냥 거리는 말을 했습니다.

이는 하나님의 경고가 오래도록 이루어지지 않는 것에 대한 비아냥이었습니다. 하지만 하나님은 이 속담을 더 이상 말하지 못하게 할 것이라고 경고하십니다(23). 또한 잘 될 것이다, 잘하고 있다, 문제 없다 라는 허탄한 묵시나 복술은 다시는 있지 못할 것이라고 경고하십니다(24).

동서고금을 막론하고 사람은 똑같습니다. 듣고 싶은 말, 복된 말만 듣고 싶습니다. 한마디라도 자신의 잘못을 지적하면 분노하며 못 견뎌합니다. 그래서 문제없다. 잘하고 있다, 복 받아라는 말만 찾아 갑니다. 그런데 사실은 그 길이 망하는 길입니다.

반역하는 이스라엘은 오래 참고 회개하기를 기다리시는 하나님의 인자와 사랑을 비아냥과 조롱으로 되갚았습니다. 결국 그 댓가는 처참한 멸망입니다. 여기서 우리가 배울 수 있는 교훈은 하나님께서는 우리의 모든 말을 들으시고 갚으시는 분이라는 사실입니다.

하나님은 우리는 죽을 것이라고 울부짖던 출애굽 1세대에게 내 귀에 들린대로 내가 너희에게 행할 것(민 14:28)이라고 말씀 하셨습니다. 또한 시편 기자는 귀를 지으신 이가 듣지 아니하시랴 눈을 만드신 이가 보지 아니하시랴 (시 94:9)라고 노래했습니다.

우리는 하나님 앞에서 우리 입을 가리고, 우리가 하는 말이 무엇인지 생각해야 합니다. 어떤 농담도, 그냥 지나치는 말도 조심해야 합니다. 하나님은 모두 들으시기 때문입니다.

Second, our God is a God who hears (verses 21–25).

The people of Israel mockingly said, “The days are prolonged, and every vision fails” (v. 22).This was a cynical response to the fact that God's warnings had not yet come to pass. But God declares that this proverb will no longer be spoken (v. 23). He also warns that false visions and flattering divinations—saying “It will be well,” “You're doing fine,” or “There is no problem”—will no longer be tolerated (v. 24).

Throughout history and across cultures, human nature has remained the same. People only want to hear what pleases them—what sounds like blessing. The moment someone points out their wrong, they become angry and defensive. So they go in search of messages that say, “You’re doing great,” “Everything is fine,” or “You’ll be blessed.”But in truth, that path leads to destruction.

The rebellious Israelites responded to God’s long-suffering love and patience—not with repentance—but with mockery and scorn. And in the end, the consequence was devastating judgment.What we can learn here is this: God hears every word we speak, and He will repay accordingly.

To the first generation of Israelites in the wilderness who cried out, “We’re going to die!” God replied,

The psalmist also sang:

Before God, we must guard our lips and be mindful of what we say. Even casual remarks or jokes should be spoken with care—because God hears them all.

마지막으로 우리 하나님은 속히 이루시는 하나님입니다(26~28절).

그들은 자신들의 날이 더디고 모든 묵시가 사라지리라(22)는 속담이 어떤 결과를 가져올지 상상도 못했을 것입니다. 반역하는 족속인 이스라엘에게 하나님은 당신의 예언이 반드시, 더디지 않고, 너희 생전에 이룰 것이라고 선포하십니다(25, 28).

분명히 하나님의 예언이 이루어지는 것을 직접 보는 세대가 있습니다. 예수님에 대해서는 수천년 동안 예언되었지만, 그분을 직접 본 세대는 1세기 성도들뿐입니다. 마찬가지로 하나님의 심판 역시도 직접 겪는 세대가 있습니다. 바로 오늘 본문에 등장하는 반역하는 세대였습니다. 물론 이때까지 조상들의 반역도 있었지만, 결국 하나님의 때가 이르러 하나님의 예언을 조롱하던 세대가 직접 예언을 몸으로 겪게 된 것입니다.

유다의 마지막 왕인 시드기야가 살아생전 마지막으로 자신의 눈으로 본 장면이 자신의 아들들이 죽는 장면이었습니다. 시드기야는 자신이 죽는 순간까지도 뼈에 사무치는 고통이 있었을 것입니다.

Lastly, our God is the God who fulfills His word swiftly (verses 26–28).

The people likely never imagined what kind of consequences would come from their saying, “The days are prolonged, and every vision fails” (v. 22). But to this rebellious house of Israel, God declares that His prophecy will certainly be fulfilled—without delay—and within their lifetime (vv. 25, 28).

Indeed, there are generations that witness the fulfillment of God’s prophecies with their own eyes.Though the coming of Jesus was foretold for thousands of years, only those in the first century actually saw Him in person. In the same way, there are generations that experience God’s judgment directly—like the rebellious generation in today’s passage. Though their ancestors had also sinned, the time had finally come for God's word to be fulfilled, and the very generation that mocked His prophecies would bear the consequences themselves.

The last king of Judah, Zedekiah, saw with his own eyes—just before they were gouged out—the execution of his sons.Until the day he died, that horrific scene must have haunted him with unimaginable pain.

지금도 살아서 말씀하시고, 우리를 들으시고, 당신의 언약을 성취하시는 하나님이 우리의 하나님이십니다.

하나님은 축복의 말씀과 저주의 말씀을 동시에 말씀 하십니다. 우리가 어느 말씀에 순종해야 할지 선택해야 합니다. 또한 하나님은 우리의 찬양과 기도와 신음소리도 들으십니다. 하지만 동시에 저주의 말과 비아냥거리는 말, 부정적인 말, 남을 욕하는 말도 다 들으십니다. 어떤 말을 내뱉을지 선택해야 합니다.

그리고 하나님은 반드시 언약을 성취하시는 분입니다. 성경에 기록된 예언의 말씀은 모두 이루어졌고, 오직 하나 보라 내가 속히 오리라(계 22:7, 12, 20)는 말씀만 남았습니다. 이 말씀 역시 반드시 이루어질 것입니다. 우리가 재림, 심판을 목격하는 그 세대가 될 수 있습니다.

마지막 예언이 이루어지는 날이 축복의 날이 될 것인지, 심판의 날이 될 것인지는 우리의 믿음과 그 믿음을 근거로 하는 아브라함과 같은 행동으로 인해 결정될 것입니다. 우리의 삶이 하나님의 메시지가 될 때, 날마다 구원 받는 자의 수가 더할 것입니다.

Even now, our God is the God who speaks, hears, and fulfills His covenant.

God proclaims both blessings and curses. It is up to us to choose which word we will obey.God hears our praise, prayers, and even our groans—but at the same time, He also hears our curses, mocking, negative speech, and words spoken in hatred. We must choose carefully the words we speak.

God is also the one who always fulfills His covenant. Every prophecy recorded in Scripture has already been fulfilled—except for one:

Whether that final day will be a day of blessing or a day of judgment depends on our faith—and whether our lives reflect a faith like Abraham's, lived out through obedience and trust.

When our lives become God’s message,more and more people will be saved each day.
