77:10 또 내가 말하기를 이는 나의 잘못이라 지존자의 오른손의 해

77:11 곧 여호와의 일들을 기억하며 주께서 옛적에 행하신 기이한 일을 기억하리이다

77:12 또 주의 모든 일을 작은 소리로 읊조리며 주의 행사를 낮은 소리로 되뇌이리이다

10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal:

    the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand.

11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;

    yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

12 I will consider all your works

    and meditate on all your mighty deeds.”

77:13 하나님이여 주의 도는 극히 거룩하시오니 하나님과 같이 위대하신 신이 누구오니이까

77:14 주는 기이한 일을 행하신 하나님이시라 민족들 중에 주의 능력을 알리시고

13 Your ways, God, are holy.

    What god is as great as our God?

14 You are the God who performs miracles;

    you display your power among the peoples.

15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,

    the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

77:16 하나님이여 물들이 주를 보았나이다 물들이 주를 보고 두려워하며 깊음도 진동하였고

77:17 구름이 물을 쏟고 궁창이 소리를 내며 주의 화살도 날아갔나이다

77:18 회오리바람 중에 주의 우렛소리가 있으며 번개가 세계를 비추며 땅이 흔들리며 움직였나이다

77:19 주의 길이 바다에 있었고 주의 곧은 길이 큰 물에 있었으나 주의 발자취를 알 수 없었나이다

16 The waters saw you, God,

    the waters saw you and writhed;

    the very depths were convulsed.

17 The clouds poured down water,

    the heavens resounded with thunder;

    your arrows flashed back and forth.

18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,

    your lightning lit up the world;

    the earth trembled and quaked.

19 Your path led through the sea,

    your way through the mighty waters,

    though your footprints were not seen.

77:20 주의 백성을 양 떼 같이 모세와 아론의 손으로 인도하셨나이다

20 You led your people like a flock

    by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

                  어제 우리는 침묵의 깊은 밤을 지나는 시편의 화자에 대해서 이야기 했었습니다. 하나님께 부르짖어도 하나님께서 내 목소리에 귀를 기울이시는 것 같지 않습니다. 너무 괴로워 잠이 오지 않고 입을 열어도 기도가 나오지 않습니다. 시인은 불안과 의심으로 괴로워 하는 가운데 ‘하나님께서 영원히 버리셨는가? 다시는 은혜를 베풀지 않으시는가?’ 하는 질문들로 씨름합니다. 그 질문들은 시인이 지금 어떤 심정에 처해있는지를 보여주면서도 한편으로는 하나님께서 절대 그럴 분이 아니라는 것을 역설적으로 말해주고 있지요. 그리고 오늘의 말씀입니다. 오늘 말씀이 마치 해피엔딩으로 끝나는 영화처럼 모든 어려움과 슬픔과 고통이 한번에 다 해결되면서 끝났다면 우리의 현실과 동떨어진 말씀처럼 느껴질 수도 있었을 것입니다. 그저 평범한 동화나 또 하나의 노래처럼 느껴질 수도 있었을지도 모릅니다. 그러나, 오늘 말씀에서 화자의 상황이 잘 해결되었다는 고백은 찾을 수 없습니다. 다만 그는 기억합니다. 하나님이 하셨던 일들, 말씀에 기록된 하나님이 옛적에 하셨던 일들을 기억하며 그 모든 일을 묵상합니다. 그때에서야 그는 자신의 문제에서 벗어나 하나님을 볼 수 있었습니다. 자신의 문제가 해결되어서 그제서야 하나님을 볼 수 있게 된 것이 아니었습니다. 화자가 그토록 괴로워하던 환난에 대해서는 해결되었는지 우리는 알 수 있는 것이 없습니다. 그러나 우리가 알 수 있는 한 가지는 바로 시인이 여호와의 일들을 기억하고 주의 모든 일을 묵상했을 때에 하나님이 거룩하시다라고 고백할 수 있었다는 것입니다. 오늘은 기억하고 묵상하라라는 제목으로 말씀을 나누기 원합니다.

Yesterday, we talked about the psalmist navigating a deep night of silence. Even when he cried out to God, it seemed as if God wasn't listening. He was so tormented that he couldn't sleep, and even when he opened his mouth, no prayer would come out. The psalmist wrestled with questions born of anxiety and doubt: 'Has God abandoned me forever? Will He never again show favor?' These questions not only revealed his desperate state but also, paradoxically, implied that God could never truly be that way.

And now, today's passage. If today's message had ended like a happy movie, with all difficulties, sorrows, and pains instantly resolved, it might have felt disconnected from our reality. It might have felt like just an ordinary fairy tale or simply another song. However, in today's passage, there's no confession that the speaker's situation has been resolved. Instead, he remembers. He remembers the works God has done, the miraculous deeds of old recorded in the Word, and he meditates on them all. It was only then that he could step out of his own problems and see God. It wasn't that his problems were solved, and then he could finally see God. We don't know if the tribulation that so tormented him was resolved. But one thing we do know is that when the psalmist remembered the works of the Lord and meditated on all His deeds, he was able to declare that God is holy. Today, I want to share a message titled "Remember and Meditate."

                  첫번째, 하나님의 일을 기억하고, 말씀을 묵상해야 합니다. 시편 77편 전체에 반복되고 있는 테마는 바로 기억하고, 묵상하는 것입니다. 3절, 5절, 6절 모두 기억함과 묵상함을 이야기하고 있습니다. 그리고 서론에서 우리가 함께 이야기했던 것처럼 환난과 괴로움으로 끝없는 질문 가운데 거하였던 시인은 그럼에도 불구하고 하나님의 일을 기억하고 말씀을 묵상하는 것을 놓지 않습니다. 오히려 그는 그것이 마치 자신의 생명줄인 것 처럼 끝까지 붙들고 있습니다. 11절 함께 읽겠습니다. “곧 여호와의 일들을 기억하며 주께서 옛적에 행하신 기이한 일을 기억하리이다.” 12절도 함께 읽겠습니다. “또 주의 모든 일을 작은 소리로 읊조리며 주의 행사를 낮은 소리로 되뇌이리이다.” 시인은 고백합니다. 기억하며 기억하리이다. 작은 소리로 읊조리며, 즉, 묵상하며 묵상하리이다. 무엇을 기억하며 무엇을 묵상합니까? 여호와의 일들, 옛적에 행하신 기이한 일, 주의 모든 일을, 주의 행사를. 옛적부터 하나님께서 하신 일들을 기억하고 행하신 모든 일이 적혀있는 성경을 묵상한다는 것입니다. 바로 그렇게 할 때에 시인은 자신의 환난으로 괴로워하는 것이 아닌 하나님을 보고 하나님을 높일 수 있게 되었습니다.

First, We Must Remember God's Works and Meditate on His Word.

The repeated theme throughout Psalm 77 is remembering and meditating. Verses 3, 5, and 6 all speak of remembering and meditating. As we discussed in the introduction, the psalmist, caught in endless questions born of tribulation and anguish, nonetheless held onto remembering God's works and meditating on His Word. He clung to it as if it were his lifeline. Let's read verse 11 together: "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago." Let's also read verse 12: "I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds." The psalmist confesses: I will remember and remember. I will meditate and meditate. What does he remember and meditate on? The works of the Lord, the wondrous deeds performed long ago, all His works, and His mighty deeds. He remembers what God has done from ancient times and meditates on the Scripture where all His deeds are recorded. It was by doing so that the psalmist was able to look at God and exalt Him, rather than being tormented by his own tribulation.

                  두번째, 하나님의 일을 기억하고, 말씀을 묵상할 때에 하나님을 볼 수 있게 됩니다. 오늘의 본문 13-15절의 말씀은 시인이 깨닫게 된 하나님을 이야기 하고 있습니다. 그 첫마디가 무엇입니까? 13절입니다. 함께 읽겠습니다. “하나님이여 주의 도는 극히 거룩하시오니 하나님과 같이 위대하신 신이 누구오니이까?” 그가 하나님이 행하셨던 일을 기억하고 말씀을 묵상할 때에 그는 하나님이 누구신지 볼 수 있게 되었습니다. 어제 말씀에서 그는 하나님의 성품에 대해서 끊임없이 질문하였습니다. 그런데 오늘 그는 하나님의 도는 극히 거룩하시며 하나님과 같이 위대한 신이 없다고 고백하는 것입니다. 그가 이렇게 고백할 수 있었던 것은 무엇입니까? 바로 기억함과 묵상이었습니다. 그가 기억한 하나님은 14절, “민족들 중에 주의 기이한 능력을 보이셨습니다.” 여기서 하나님이 보이신 그 기이한 능력이란 무엇입니까? 15절, 주의 팔로 주의 백성을 속량하신 것입니다. 속량이란 포로나 노예를 대가를 치르고 자유롭게 풀어주는 것을 말합니다. 민족들 중에서 능력을 보이셨는데 오직 주의 백성만을 속량하셨습니다. 하나님은 당신의 능하신 팔로 자기 백성을 자유케 하시는 분임을 그는 기억하고 묵상하고 있는 것입니다. 그때에 그는 하나님을 볼 수 있었고 하나님을 거룩하시다 고백 할 수 있었던 것입니다.

Second, When We Remember God's Works and Meditate on His Word, We Can See God.

Today's passage, verses 13-15, speaks of the God the psalmist came to understand. What is the first thing he says? Verse 13. Let's read it together: "Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God?" As he remembered God's past deeds and meditated on His Word, he was able to see who God is. In yesterday's message, he continually questioned God's character. But today, he confesses that God's ways are utterly holy, and there is no god as great as God. What allowed him to make this confession? It was remembering and meditating. The God he remembered, as described in verse 14, "You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples." What is this miraculous power God displayed? Verse 15: "With your mighty arm you redeemed your people." Redemption means to set free a captive or slave by paying a price. He displayed His power among the peoples, but only redeemed His own people. He remembered and meditated on the truth that God is the one who, with His mighty arm, sets His people free. It was then that he could see God and confess that God is holy.

                  세번째, 하나님의 일을 기억하고, 말씀을 묵상할 때에 소망을 가질 수 있습니다. 화자는 하나님이 행하신 기이한 일들을 기억하며 창세기와 출애굽기 말씀을 묵상하였던 것 같습니다. 16절입니다. “물들이 주를 보고 두려워하며 깊음도 진동하였고.” 17 절, “구름이 물을 쏟고 궁창이 소리를 내며.” 18절, “번개가 세계를 비추며 땅이 흔들리고 움직였나이다.” 여러분 이 말씀들을 보시면 무엇이 떠오르십니까? 그렇습니다. 창세기에서 세상을 창조하시는 하나님이 떠오르실 것입니다. 화자는 창조주 하나님을 기억하였습니다. 창세기 1:2에서 “땅은 혼돈하고 공허하며 흑암이 깊음 위에 있고 하나님의 영은 수면 위에 운행하시니라” 하나님께서 창조자라면 물들은 창조 이전의 형태 없는 혼돈과 무질서, 그리고 죽음을 상징하는 것임을 알 수 있습니다. 그런 물들이 주를 보고 어떻게 하였다고 합니까? 두려워하였다고 합니다. 크신 팔로 자기 백성을 자유케 하시는 하나님이 바로 모든 혼돈과 무질서와 죽음을 다스리시는 창조주 하나님이신 것입니다. 하나님께서는 출애굽기에서도 동일하게 역사하십니다. 19절, 함께 읽겠습니다. “주의 길이 바다에 있었고 주의 곧은길이 큰물에 있었으나 주의 발자취를 알 수 없었나이다.” 바다와 큰 물. 이스라엘 백성들의 눈 앞에 펼쳐져 있는 죽음이었습니다. 차라리 애굽의 병거들에게 맞서 싸우는 것이 나을 정도로 그들 눈 앞에 있는 바다는 확실한 죽음이었습니다. 그러나 하나님의 인도는 기이한 것이었습니다. 그 죽음을 가르시고 그곳에 곧은길을 내셨습니다. 아무런 가능성이 없었던 확실한 죽음이 갈라져 그들의 살 길이 되었습니다. 그 때에 시인은 고백합니다. 20절 “주의 백성을 양 떼같이 모세와 아론의 손으로 인도하셨나이다.” 오늘의 시편은 여기서 끝이 납니다. 화자는 자신의 환난이 해결되었음을 노래하지 않았습니다. 그러나 우리는 그가 하나님의 일을 기억하고 말씀을 묵상함으로 소망하였다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 하나님께서 그 또한 양떼 같이 인도하실 것이라는 것을 말입니다.

Third, When We Remember God's Works and Meditate on His Word, We Can Have Hope.

It seems the speaker remembered God's miraculous deeds and meditated on the accounts from Genesis and Exodus. Verse 16: "The waters saw you, God, and writhed; the deeps were troubled." Verse 17: "The clouds poured down water, the heavens thundered; your arrows flashed all around." Verse 18: "Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind; your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked." What comes to mind when you read these verses? That's right. The God who created the world in Genesis. The speaker remembered God as the Creator. In Genesis 1:2, "the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." If God is the Creator, then the waters symbolize the formless chaos, disorder, and death that existed before creation. And what happened when those waters saw the Lord? They trembled. The God who, with His mighty arm, sets His people free is also the Creator God who controls all chaos, disorder, and death.

God worked similarly in the book of Exodus. Let's read verse 19 together: "Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen." The sea and the mighty waters. This was death spread out before the eyes of the Israelites. It was a sure death, to the point where confronting the Egyptian chariots might have seemed preferable. Yet, God's leading was miraculous. He divided that death and made a straight path through it. A certain death, where there was no possibility, was split open to become their way of life. At that time, the psalmist confesses in verse 20: "You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron." Today's psalm ends here. The speaker did not sing of his tribulation being resolved. But we can know that he found hope by remembering God's works and meditating on His Word. He knew God would lead him, too, like a flock.

                  말씀을 맺습니다. 침묵의 깊은 밤을 지날 때에, 하나님이 하신 일을 기억하고 그 말씀을 묵상하십시오. 그렇게 할 때에 우리는 우리를 둘러싸고 있는 환난 가운데서 눈을 들어 하나님을 볼 수 있게 됩니다. 그리고 우리가 하나님을 기억하고 하나님의 말씀을 묵상할 때에 우리는 소망을 가질 수 있습니다. 비록 하나님이 침묵하실지라도 천지를 창조하시고 자기 백성을 속량하셨던 하나님은 어제나 오늘이나 변함이 없으십니다. 내 눈 앞에 내가 어쩔 수 없는 바다가 있다 할지라도 하나님께서는 그 바다에 길을 내시는 분입니다. 그리고 자기 백성을 양 떼같이 인도하시는 분이십니다. 우리 하나님이 하신 일을 기억합시다. 그리고 그 말씀을 묵상함으로 하나님을 보고 소망을 가지시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

Conclusion

To conclude, when you are passing through a deep night of silence, remember what God has done and meditate on His Word. By doing so, we can lift our eyes from the tribulations surrounding us and see God. And when we remember God and meditate on His Word, we can have hope. Even if God seems silent, the God who created the heavens and the earth and redeemed His people is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Even if there's a sea before your eyes that you can't cross, God is the one who makes a way through that sea. And He is the one who leads His people like a flock. Let us remember what our God has done. And by meditating on His Word, may you see God and have hope, in the name of the Lord.
