5:19 그러므로 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 아들이 아버지께서 하시는 일을 보지 않고는 아무 것도 스스로 할 수 없나니 아버지께서 행하시는 그것을 아들도 그와 같이 행하느니라

5:20 아버지께서 아들을 사랑하사 자기가 행하시는 것을 다 아들에게 보이시고 또 그보다 더 큰 일을 보이사 너희로 놀랍게 여기게 하시리라

5:21 아버지께서 죽은 자들을 일으켜 살리심 같이 아들도 자기가 원하는 자들을 살리느니라

5:22 아버지께서 아무도 심판하지 아니하시고 심판을 다 아들에게 맡기셨으니

5:23 이는 모든 사람으로 아버지를 공경하는 것 같이 아들을 공경하게 하려 하심이라 아들을 공경하지 아니하는 자는 그를 보내신 아버지도 공경하지 아니하느니라

19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. 21 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

5:24 내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 내 말을 듣고 또 나 보내신 이를 믿는 자는 영생을 얻었고 심판에 이르지 아니하나니 사망에서 생명으로 옮겼느니라

5:25 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 죽은 자들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니 곧 이 때라 듣는 자는 살아나리라

5:26 아버지께서 자기 속에 생명이 있음 같이 아들에게도 생명을 주어 그 속에 있게 하셨고

5:27 또 인자 됨으로 말미암아 심판하는 권한을 주셨느니라

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

5:28 이를 놀랍게 여기지 말라 무덤 속에 있는 자가 다 그의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니

5:29 선한 일을 행한 자는 생명의 부활로, 악한 일을 행한 자는 심판의 부활로 나오리라

28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.

                어제 우리는 38년된 병자를 치유하시는 예수님의 모습을 통해 자격없는 우리를 향한 전적인 하나님의 은혜에 대하여 말씀을 나누었습니다. 예수님께서 안식일의 주인되시기에 안식일에 표적을 행하셨고, 또 하나님이 일하시니 자신도 일하신다면서 자신을 하나님과 동등하게 삼으심을 볼 수 있었습니다. 그러자 유대인들이 어찌 인간인 네가 스스로를 하나님과 동등하다고 말하느냐 그것은 신성모독이다 라며 예수님을 죽이려고 하지요. 그런 그들에게 예수님께서 대답하시는 것이 바로 오늘의 본문입니다. 그래서 오늘 본문은 ‘그러므로’로 시작하지요. 예수님을 공격하는, 눈 앞의 예수님이 하나님이시라는 것을 깨닫지 못하는 유대인들에게 예수님께서 친히 당신과 하나님의 관계가 어떠한 관계인지를 설명해주시는 것입니다. 오늘 본문을 보면 하나님과 예수님은 서로 분리되어있지만 마치 하나처럼 서로 협력하여 일을 하십니다. 이를 통하여 하나님의 신성이 예수님 안에 동일하게 있음을 말씀해주고 계시지요. 이렇게 예수님이 하나님이심을 말하는 것은 이유가 있습니다. 바로 예수님의 말씀을 듣고 믿게하여 영생을 얻게 하려 하심인 것입니다. 하나님의 아들이신 예수를 믿어 영생을 얻으라. 이것이 오늘 말씀의 핵심인 것입니다.

Yesterday, we discussed God's complete grace toward us, the unqualified ones, through Jesus' healing of a man who had been ill for 38 years. We saw that since Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, He performed signs on the Sabbath, and when He equated Himself with God by saying that He works because God works. The Jews then sought to kill Him, saying, "How dare you, a mere human, equate yourself with God? This is blasphemy." Today's text is Jesus' response to them. That's why our text begins with "therefore." Jesus is explaining to these Jews who attack Him, who fail to recognize the God standing before them, precisely what His relationship with God is.

In today's text, we see that while God and Jesus are distinct, they work together as one. Through this, He reveals that God's divinity is equally present in Jesus. There's a reason Jesus declares His divinity: so that those who hear His words might believe and receive eternal life. Believe in Jesus, the Son of God, to receive eternal life - this is the core message of today's word.

                그렇다면 하나님의 아들되신 예수님에 대해 오늘 본문은 어떻게 말씀하고 계시는지 함께 보시기 원합니다. 첫번째, 아들은 하나님의 일을 행하십니다. 하나님의 아들이신 예수님께서는 하나님이 행하시는 일을 그대로 하십니다. 그러나 스스로 하지 않으시고 하나님께서 하시는 일을 본대로 행하십니다. 하나님이 하시는 일을 예수님이 하신다는 것은 예수님과 하나님이 동격임을 알려주는 것입니다. 이렇게 말씀을 드리면 아마 이런 질문을 하실 수 있을겁니다. 19절에서 “아들이 아버지께서 하시는 일을 보지 않고는 아무것도 스스로 할 수 없나니”라고 하시는데 그러면 아들이 아버지보다 열등한 것이 아닙니까? 어떻게 예수님이 하나님과 동격일 수 있습니까? 이 질문은 20절의 말씀으로 답을 드릴 수 있습니다. 20절 말씀에 “아버지께서 아들을 사랑하사 자기가 행하시는 것을 다 아들에게 보이시고 또 그보다 더 큰 일을 보이사 너희로 놀랍게 여기게 하시리라” 자 아들은 보지 않고는 아무것도 할 수 없다고 하는데 아버지는 아들을 사랑하사 다 보이시고 그보다 더 큰 일을 보이신다고 하십니다. 즉 아버지와 아들의 관계는 명령과 복종의 관계가 아니라 사랑과 공경의 관계임을 알 수 있는 것입니다. 예수님께서는 이를 가르켜 14:10에 “내가 아버지 안에 거하고 아버지께서 내 안에 계시다”고 말씀하시고 10:30에 “나와 아버지는 하나이니라”라고 아버지와 아들의 관계를 명확하게 말씀하십니다.

Let's examine how today's text speaks about Jesus, the Son of God. First, the Son does God's work. Jesus, the Son of God, does exactly what God does. However, He doesn't act on His own but does what He sees the Father doing. That Jesus does what God does reveals that Jesus and God are equal in nature. You might ask a question here. In verse 19, it says, "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing." Doesn't this make the Son inferior to the Father? How can Jesus be equal with God? We can answer this with verse 20: "For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed." While the Son can do nothing without seeing, the Father, out of love, shows Him everything and even greater works. This reveals that the relationship between Father and Son isn't one of command and obedience, but of love and honor. Jesus refers to this in John 14:10, saying "Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?" and in John 10:30, "I and the Father are one," clearly stating the relationship between Father and Son.

                예수님이 하나님이심을 보여주시는 것은 21절과 22절에도 잘 나와있지요. 먼저 21절에서는 “아버지께서 죽은 자들을 일으켜 살리심같이 아들도 자기가 원하는 자들을 살리느니라” 무슨 말씀입니까? 사람을 죽이고 살리는 것은 하나님의 권한이지요. 신명기 32:39에 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “이제는 나 곧 내가 그인 줄 알라 나 외에는 신이 없도다 나는 죽이기도 하며 살리기도 하며 상하게도 하며 낫게도 하나니 내 손에서 능히 빼앗을 자가 없도다.” 자 나 외에는 신이 없다고, 나만이 하나님이라고 말씀하신 하나님께서 그 근거로 말씀하신 것이 바로 당신께서 생명의 주관자 되심을 보이신 것입니다. 그런데 21절에 “아들도 자기가 원하는 자들을 살리느니라”라고 말씀하고 계시지요. 즉 아들도 하나님과 같은 생명의 주관자라고 이야기하고 계시는 것입니다. 바로 예수님의 신성을 말씀하고 계시는 것이지요. 

Jesus' divinity is well-demonstrated in verses 21 and 22 as well. First, verse 21 states, "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it." What does this mean? The power over life and death belongs to God alone. In Deuteronomy 32:39, God declares, "See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand." God proves His unique divinity by showing He is the master of life. Yet in verse 21, it says "the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it." This is saying that the Son is also the master of life, just like God. This speaks to Jesus' divinity.

22절을 볼까요?  하나님께서 예수님에게 심판을 다 맡기셨다고 합니다. 27절에 보니 마찬가지입니다. “인자됨으로 말미암아 심판하는 권한을 주셨느니라.” 여러분 인생을 심판하는 자 누구입니까? 바로 하나님이시지요. 그런데 그 모든 심판의 권한이 바로 예수님께 있다고 합니다. 바로 예수님께서 하나님이심을 보여주시는 것입니다.

자 오늘 본문에서 나타난 예수님의 모습을 종합해보면 첫번째 하나님의 일을 행하시고, 두번째 생명의 주관자이시며, 세번째 인생의 심판자이십니다. 즉 예수님께서는 하나님과 동등하신 것입니다. 그래서 23절에 “아들을 공경하지 아니하는 자는 그를 보내신 아버지도 공경하지 아니하느니라.” 즉 예수님의 신성을 부정하는 것은 하나님을 부정하는 것이다 라고 말씀하고 계시는 것입니다. 그렇다면 이렇게 하나님 되시는 예수님을 우리는 어떻게 대하여야 할까요?

Looking at verse 22, God has entrusted all judgment to Jesus. Verse 27 similarly states, "And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man." Who judges human life? It's God. Yet all authority to judge has been given to Jesus. This demonstrates Jesus' divinity.

Summarizing Jesus' characteristics from today's text: first, He does God's work; second, He is the master of life; and third, He is the judge of human life. In other words, Jesus is equal with God. That's why verse 23 says, "Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him." Denying Jesus' divinity is equivalent to denying God. So how should we respond to Jesus, who is God?

재미있는 것은 오늘 본문에서, 오늘 본문이 좀 길지 않습니까? 19절에서 29절 되는 이 긴 본문을 예수님께서 말씀하셨는데 단 한 구절을 제외한 모든 구절에서 스스로를 아들이라고 말씀하십니다. 3인칭을 사용하시죠. 아버지와 아들의 관계에 대해서 계속 말씀하십니다. 그런데 24절에서만 “내가” 라며 1인칭을 사용하십니다. 바로 여기에 오늘 말씀의 핵심이 있습니다. 24절 함께 보시겠습니다. “내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 내 말을 듣고 또 나 보내신 이를 믿는 자는 영생을 얻었고 심판에 이르지 아니하나니 사망에서 생명으로 옮겼느니라” 그렇습니다. 이것이 우리가 예수님을 대하는 방식인 것입니다. 예수님의 말씀을 듣고 하나님을 믿는 것. 이것이 우리가 하나님 되신 예수님께 마땅히 해야하는 것이죠. 앞에서 말씀드렸던 예수님께서 하나님의 일을 행하시고, 생명의 주관자 되시며, 인생의 심판자 되심이 이 말씀 안에 그대로 녹아있지 않습니까? 하나님의 일을 행하셔서 보내심을 받아 인간의 몸으로 세상에 오시고 십자가에서 죽으심으로 우리에게 생명을 주시고 또 그의 말씀을 듣고 믿는 자들을 심판에 이르지 아니하게 하시는 우리를 죽음에서 생명으로 옮기시는 분이 바로 예수님이신 것입니다. 예수님께서 이천년 전이나 지금이나 동일하게 하나님의 말씀을 통하여 우리에게 말씀하십니다. 죽은 자들이 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오나니 곧 이때라, 곧 지금이라. 듣는 자는 살아나리라. 바로 지금 예수님께서 말씀하고 계시는 것입니다. 바로 지금이다. 나의 말을 들어라. 내가 곧 하나님이니 나의 말을 듣고 믿어 영생을 얻으라.

Interestingly, in this lengthy passage from verses 19 to 29, Jesus refers to Himself as "the Son" in third person in every verse except one. He continuously speaks about the relationship between Father and Son. Only in verse 24 does He use first person, "I." This is where we find the core message. Let's look at verse 24: "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." This is how we should respond to Jesus - hearing His words and believing in God. This encompasses everything we discussed earlier about Jesus doing God's work, being the master of life, and the judge of humanity. Sent to do God's work, He came in human form, gave us life through His death on the cross, and transfers those who hear and believe His words from death to life, keeping them from judgment.

Jesus speaks to us through God's word, the same yesterday as today. "A time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live." He's speaking right now, saying, "The time is now. Hear my words. I am God - hear my words and believe to receive eternal life."

말씀을 맺습니다. 오늘 말씀을 통하여 예수님께서는 당신께서 하나님 되심을 우리에게 분명히 말씀하여 주십니다. 특별히 예수님께서 생명이시며 우리를 심판하시는 분이심을 분명히 하십니다. 그러나 이 말씀을 하시는 것은 바로 우리에게 영생을 주시고 심판에 이르지 않게 하시기 위함입니다. 우리로 사망에서 생명으로 옮기기를 원하시는 것입니다. 모든 인간은 죽음을 피할 수 없습니다. 인생에서의 모든 즐거움은 죽음 앞에서 그 의미를 잃게 되는 것입니다. 그러나 예수님께서 오늘 우리에게 말씀하십니다. 아들의 음성을 들어라. 그 음성을 들을 때가 바로 지금이다. 내가 곧 하나님이니 내 말을 듣고 하나님을 믿어 영생을 얻으라. 여러분 이것이 우리의 희망인 것입니다. 예수님께서, 하나님의 아들이신 예수님께서 우리에게 영생으로 향하는 길을 보여주십니다. 여러분 예수님의 말씀을 들으시고 믿음을 굳건히 하시기를 축원합니다. 그래서 여러분 모두 끝까지 영생의 길을 걷게 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

In conclusion, through today's message, Jesus clearly declares His divinity to us. He particularly emphasizes that He is life itself and our judge. However, He says this to give us eternal life and keep us from judgment. He wants to transfer us from death to life. All humans cannot escape death. All life's pleasures lose meaning in the face of death. But Jesus tells us today: Hear the Son's voice. The time to hear is now. I am God - hear my words and believe in God to receive eternal life. This is our hope. Jesus, the Son of God, shows us the path to eternal life. I pray that you will hear Jesus' words and strengthen your faith. May you all walk the path of eternal life to the end, in the Lord's name.
