1 Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
62:3 넘어지는 담과 흔들리는 울타리 같이 사람을 죽이려고 너희가 일제히 공격하기를 언제까지 하려느냐
62:4 그들이 그를 그의 높은 자리에서 떨어뜨리기만 꾀하고 거짓을 즐겨 하니 입으로는 축복이요 속으로는 저주로다 (셀라)
3 How long will you assault me?
Would all of you throw me down—
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 Surely they intend to topple me
from my lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.

5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God;
he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
62:9 아, 슬프도다 사람은 입김이며 인생도 속임수이니 저울에 달면 그들은 입김보다 가벼우리로다
62:10 포악을 의지하지 말며 탈취한 것으로 허망하여지지 말며 재물이 늘어도 거기에 마음을 두지 말지어다
9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion
or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.
62:11 하나님이 한두 번 하신 말씀을 내가 들었나니 권능은 하나님께 속하였다 하셨도다

11 One thing God has spoken,
two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
according to what they have done.”
미국 대선이 닷새 밖에 남지 않았습니다. 미디어에서는 트럼프와 해리스의 지지율이 거의 동률이라고 합니다만 많은 사람들은 트럼프의 승리를 점치고 있습니다. 도박사들 역시 트럼프 쪽에 더 많은 배팅을 하는 것으로 조사되었습니다.
기도하면서 각자에게 주어진 권한을 잘 사용해야 한다고 생각합니다. 그럼에도 잊지 말아야 할 것은 트럼프가 당선되든 해리스가 당선되든 사실을 하나님이 주인이라는 사실입니다. 인간들은 그저 한낱 안개와 같은 존재일 뿐입니다. 결코 신뢰와 믿음의 대상이 아닙니다.
엊그제 한 성도님을 심방 했는데, 참으로 안타까운 이야기를 전해 주셨습니다. 그 성도님이 사업을 하면서 성실한 직원들을 만나서 사업을 확장하려고 그 직원들에게 많은 권한을 주었는데, 그들이 서로 결탁하여 사장인 우리 성도님을 배신하고 사업을 어렵게 만들었다는 것입니다. 결국 그 성도님은 사업을 정리하고 조기에 은퇴하였습니다. 다행히도 그 집사님은 믿음으로 잘 이겨내고 있습니다.
이처럼 사람은 믿거나 의지할 존재가 아닙니다. 그저 사랑해야 할 대상일 뿐입니다.
The U.S. presidential election is now only five days away. Media reports indicate that Trump and Harris are neck and neck in support, yet many people are predicting a Trump victory. Likewise, bookmakers are placing heavier bets on Trump. In this time of uncertainty, it’s essential to use the authority we’ve been given wisely and prayerfully. However, we mustn’t forget that, whether Trump or Harris wins, God remains the ultimate ruler. Human life is but a mere breath, not something to fully trust or rely on.
Recently, I visited a church member who shared a painful experience. This person had worked hard to expand their business and entrusted loyal employees with considerable authority. Sadly, these employees banded together, betrayed the owner, and created significant hardships for the business, eventually leading the church member to close it down and retire early. Fortunately, this person is handling the setback with faith. People aren’t meant to be trusted or relied upon; instead, they are simply to be loved.
반석이신 하나님 (1~8절)
다윗은 시편 62편에서 믿을 수 없는 존재인 인간들의 가벼움과 오직 유일한 믿음의 대상인 하나님을 대조하여 노래합니다. 본 시는 탄식시, 교훈시, 신뢰시 등으로 분류가 됩니다. 물론 지혜의 요소도 담고 있지만, 개인적인 신뢰시로 분류할 수 있습니다.
시의 제목은 다윗의 시, 인도자를 따라 여두둔의 법칙에 따라 부르는 노래입니다.
악장이었던 여두둔의 창법에 따라 노래하라는 음악기호입니다.
여두둔은 다윗 왕 시대에 악기연주와 노래하는 사람으로 아삽과 헤만의 동료였습니다(대하 5:12).
본시편에서 반복되는 히브리어는 아크 אך 라는 단어입니다. 그 의미는 오직, 참으로, 그럼에도 입니다.
한국말 성경에는 다 반영되지 않았습니다만 히브리 성경에는 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9절에 모두 등장합니다.
이 단어가 중요한 이유는 문장을 강조하거나, 일반적인 것과 반대되는 내용을 전개할 때 사용하기 때문입니다. 예를 들자면 사람들은 이렇게 하지만 나는 저렇게 한다 입니다.
God, Our Rock (Verses 1–8)
In Psalm 62, David contrasts the lightness and unreliability of humans with God, the only true object of faith. This psalm is classified as a psalm of lament, instruction, and trust. Although it contains elements of wisdom, it can be categorized as a personal trust psalm. The title indicates it is “a Psalm of David, a song to be sung according to Jeduthun’s instruction.” Jeduthun, a fellow musician of Asaph and Heman during King David's time (2 Chronicles 5:12), was the leader of a choir that sang according to this notation.
Throughout the psalm, the Hebrew word ak (אך), meaning “only,” “truly,” or “nevertheless,” recurs in verses 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 9, though it’s not fully reflected in all translations. This word emphasizes a statement or introduces a contrasting idea, such as “people do this, but I will do that.”
그래서 1절에도 보면 오직 이나 참으로 로 번역되지 않았지만, 잠잠히 하나님만~ 이라는 번역에서 (하나님)만 이라는 번역에 아크 의 의미가 반영된 것입니다. 세상 사람들은 권력, 돈, 사람들을 의지하지만, 나(다윗, 성도)는 오직 하나님만 의지하겠다 라는 의미입니다.
영어 성경은 원어 성경의 느낌을 잘 살리려고 Truly(1, 2, 6), Surely(4, 9), Yes(5) 로 번역했습니다.
다윗은 오직 하나님만이 자신에게 구원을 주시는 반석이시요, 구원이시요, 요새라고 고백합니다(1, 2).
이것은 다윗의 경험적인 고백입니다. 사람에게 말하는 것은 소용이 없습니다. 사람들은 겉(입)으로는 자신을 축복하는 척합니다. 하지만 속에는 다윗을 향한 저주와 어떻게든 그를 넘어뜨리려는 계략 뿐입니다(4).
그래서 다윗은 그러한 자들은 넘어지는 담과 흔들리는 울타리에 비유합니다(3). 사람의 안전을 보호해야 할 담과 울타리가 오히려 사람 위로 넘어져 사람들을 다치게 하고 죽이는 것과 동일합니다. 믿었던 그 사람들은 사실은 다윗을 왕좌에서 떨어뜨리려고만(여기서 히브리어 אך, 영어 Surely가 사용되었습니다) 하는 악한 자들입니다(4).
다윗은 경험했습니다. 오직 하나님만이 나의 소망이요, 반석이요, 구원이시요, 요새이심을… 그래서 다윗은 잠잠히 하나님만 바랄 것입니다(5, 6). 우리는 어려움 중에 사람들에게 말하고자 하는 유혹을 받습니다. 하지만 위기 가운데 진정 필요한 것은 잠잠하게 하나님만 바라는 것입니다.
다윗은 백성들에게 자신의 경험을 나눕니다. 먼저는 항상 여호와를 의지해야 합니다.
또한 하나님 앞에 나아가 그 마음을 토해내야 합니다. 원어적 의미는 쏟아내라(솨파크)는 것입니다(7, 8). 왜냐하면 오직 하나님만이 우리의 피난처이시기 때문입니다.
For example, in verse 1, while the word “only” isn’t translated, we see it in “my soul waits quietly on God alone,” where “alone” reflects ak's meaning. People may rely on power, money, and other people, but David (and believers) will rely on God alone. English translations emphasize this with “Truly” (vv. 1, 2, 6) and “Surely” (vv. 4, 9). David acknowledges that only God is his salvation, his rock, and his fortress (vv. 1, 2), a testimony born of his experiences. Speaking to others yields no lasting help because people often pretend to bless while secretly wishing ill and plotting to overthrow (v. 4). David likens such people to unstable walls and tottering fences (v. 3), meaning that those expected to provide protection may collapse on and harm others. Those David trusted were, in fact, intent on dethroning him.
David’s experience has taught him that only God is his hope, rock, salvation, and fortress. In times of trouble, though we may feel tempted to turn to others, the true answer lies in quietly waiting on God (vv. 5, 6). David shares his experience, urging people to trust God always and pour out their hearts before Him. The original Hebrew word used here, shaphakh (שָׁפַךְ), means to “pour out” fully (vv. 7, 8), because only God is our refuge.
입김보다 가벼운 인생 (9~12절)
다윗은 다시한번 아크를 사용합니다. 영어는 Surely로 한국어는 아! 라는 감탄사로 번역했습니다(9).
사람은 베네 아담 בני-אדם, 아담(사람)의 아들들로, 예전 성경은 천한 사람이라고 번역했습니다.
또한 인생은 베네 이쉬 בני-איש, 이쉬(남자)의 아들들인데, 예전 성경은 귀한 자들로 번역했습니다.
한마디로 천한 사람이건 귀한 인생이건 할 것 없이 모두 입김(헛되고), 속임수(거짓)와 같은 존재라는 것입니다. 다윗은 인간이 입김보다 가볍다 결론 내립니다. 인간의 입김을 무게로 잴 수 있을까요?
잴 수 있다면 얼마나 나가며, 얼마 동안 존재할 수 있을까요? 요즘 날씨가 추워져서 아침, 저녁으로 입김이 나옵니다. 하지만 잠깐 눈에 보이다가 순식간에 사라집니다. 이것이 입김이고, 우리 인생입니다. 그러므로 남의 것을 빼앗고자 포악할 필요 없고, 재물이 늘어도 거기에 마음을 둘 필요가 없습니다. 모든 것이 헛되고 허망할 뿐입니다(10).
이것은 다윗의 경험일 뿐 아니라, 하나님의 말씀입니다. 11절은 영어 성경의 번역이 옳습니다. 하나님의 한 번 하신 말씀 속에서 두 가지 진리를 발견합니다(11a). 두 가지 진리는 이어 나오는 구절입니다.
첫번째 권능은 하나님께 속하였다(11b). 두번째 인자함 역시 주께 속하였다(12a).
모든 주권이 하나님께 속하여 결국 심판이 주님 손에 있다는 것을 다윗은 깊이 깨닫습니다.
Human Life, Lighter than Breath (Verses 9–12)
David again uses ak, translated in English as “Surely” and in Korean as “Ah!” (v. 9). He describes humanity as bnei adam (בְּנֵי־אָדָם, sons of Adam) and bnei ish (בְּנֵי־אִישׁ, sons of men), previously translated as “lowborn” and “noble” respectively. Essentially, whether high or low, all human lives are transient and deceptive, as fleeting as breath. David concludes that human beings weigh less than a breath. Can we even measure the weight of breath? If it were possible, it would be a fraction, lasting only a moment before disappearing, like the cold morning breath that vanishes almost instantly. This is the nature of life, just a breath. Therefore, there is no need to covet or rely on possessions; if wealth increases, we needn’t set our hearts on it (v. 10). This perspective isn’t just David’s—it is God’s word. Verse 11 reveals two truths from a single message from God: first, power belongs to God; second, steadfast love belongs to the Lord (v. 11b, v. 12a).
다윗이 담과 울타리처럼 생각하고 믿었던 인간들에게 배신당하는 경험을 통해서 깊이 깨달은 것은 오직 하나님만이 자신의 구원이고, 소망이고, 반석이고, 요새라는 사실입니다. 하나님은 천년이 지나도 변함없는 반석과 같은 분이시지만, 인간은 입김보다도 가벼운 존재입니다. 그러므로 쓸데없는 세상 것들 포악, 탈취물, 재물에 마음을 둘 필요가 없습니다. 오직 나의 소망이신 하나님께만 마음을 두면 됩니다.
하나님이 반석임을 믿는 자들은 그에게 피합니다. 그리고 그 반석이신 예수, 십자가 앞에 나아가 나의 모든 것을 쏟아 냅니다. 그럴 때 입김과 같은 인생이 주지 못하는 편안과 위로와 구원을 베풀어 주십니다.
누구에게 나가시겠습니까? 입으로는 축복이지만 속으로는 저주하는 입김과 같은 인생입니까?
아니면 반석과 같은 요새이신 하나님입니까? 주님 앞에 잠잠히 나아가 마음을 쏟아냅시다.
Through the painful experiences of betrayal by people he thought to be his support, David deeply realized that only God is his salvation, hope, rock, and fortress. God, like a rock, remains unchanged through the ages, while human life is even lighter than a breath. Therefore, we needn’t set our hearts on the futile things of this world—oppression, plunder, or riches. Instead, our hearts should rest solely in God, our hope. Those who believe God is their rock take refuge in Him. And they pour out their hearts entirely before the rock, Jesus, at the foot of the cross, where they find comfort, peace, and salvation that life, fleeting as a breath, cannot give.
To whom will you turn? Will you trust in fleeting lives that appear to bless you yet harbor curses? Or will you find refuge in God, the rock and fortress? Let us approach the Lord quietly and pour out our hearts before Him.
