20240426 [새벽묵상] 간절히 주를 찾습니다 | Earnestly I Seek You (왕상/1Kings 10:1~13)

10:1 스바의 여왕이 여호와의 이름으로 말미암은 솔로몬의 명성을 듣고 와서 어려운 문제로 그를 시험하고자 하여

10:2 예루살렘에 이르니 수행하는 자가 심히 많고 향품과 심히 많은 금과 보석을 낙타에 실었더라 그가 솔로몬에게 나아와 자기 마음에 있는 것을 다 말하매

10:3 솔로몬이 그가 묻는 말에 다 대답하였으니 왕이 알지 못하여 대답하지 못한 것이 하나도 없었더라

10:4 스바의 여왕이 솔로몬의 모든 지혜와 그 건축한 왕궁과

10:5 그 상의 식물과 그의 신하들의 좌석과 그의 시종들이 시립한 것과 그들의 관복과 술 관원들과 여호와의 성전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 크게 감동되어

1 When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions. 2 Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind. 3 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her. 4 When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, 5 the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.

10:6 왕께 말하되 내가 내 나라에서 당신의 행위와 당신의 지혜에 대하여 들은 소문이 사실이로다

10:7 내가 그 말들을 믿지 아니하였더니 이제 와서 친히 본즉 내게 말한 것은 절반도 못되니 당신의 지혜와 복이 내가 들은 소문보다 더하도다

10:8 복되도다 당신의 사람들이여 복되도다 당신의 이 신하들이여 항상 당신 앞에 서서 당신의 지혜를 들음이로다

10:9 당신의 하나님 여호와를 송축할지로다 여호와께서 당신을 기뻐하사 이스라엘 왕위에 올리셨고 여호와께서 영원히 이스라엘을 사랑하시므로 당신을 세워 왕으로 삼아 정의와 공의를 행하게 하셨도다 하고

6 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. 7 But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard. 8 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 9 Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the Lord’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness.”

10:10 이에 그가 금 일백이십 달란트와 심히 많은 향품과 보석을 왕에게 드렸으니 스바의 여왕이 솔로몬 왕에게 드린 것처럼 많은 향품이 다시 오지 아니하였더라

10 And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

10:11 오빌에서부터 금을 실어온 히람의 배들이 오빌에서 많은 백단목과 보석을 운반하여 오매

10:12 왕이 백단목으로 여호와의 성전과 왕궁의 난간을 만들고 또 노래하는 자를 위하여 수금과 비파를 만들었으니 이같은 백단목은 전에도 온 일이 없었고 오늘까지도 보지 못하였더라

10:13 솔로몬 왕이 왕의 규례대로 스바의 여왕에게 물건을 준 것 외에 또 그의 소원대로 구하는 것을 주니 이에 그가 그의 신하들과 함께 본국으로 돌아갔더라

11 (Hiram’s ships brought gold from Ophir; and from there they brought great cargoes of almugwood and precious stones. 12 The king used the almugwood to make supports for the temple of the Lord and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. So much almugwood has never been imported or seen since that day.)

13 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for, besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.

솔로몬을 찾아온 스바 여왕 

오늘의 성경 구절에서는 스바 여왕이 솔로몬을 방문합니다 (1절). 어떤 학자들은 스바를 현대의 예멘에 해당하는 남부 아라비아로 보고 있습니다. 어떤 학자들은 그녀가 에디오피아에서 왔다고 생각합니다. 주요 단서는 그녀가 선물로 향료 더미를 가져왔다는 것인데, 그녀가 가져온 유향은 이 두 지역에서만 자랍니다.

실제로 에디오피아의 전설에 의하면 스바 여왕은 솔로몬이 믿는 하나님을 믿기 시작 했다는 것입니다. 재미있는 것은 예멘과 에디오피아가 각각 스바 여왕이 자기들 나라 출신이라고 주장한다는 것입니다. 예멘과 에디오피아는 25km쯤 떨어진 이웃 이기 때문에 두 나라 모두다 옳을 수 있습니다.

스바에서 예루살렘까지의 거리는 약 2,400km 혹은 1491마일입니다. 스바 여왕은 솔로몬이 정말로 그렇게 지혜로운 사람인지 직접 확인하기 위해 이 먼 거리를 여행했습니다. 그녀의 방문은 솔로몬을 통해 더 많은 힘, 돈, 명예를 얻기 위함이 아니었습니다. 스바 여왕은 오직 솔로몬의 지혜로운 말을 듣기 위해 갔습니다.

In today’s scriptures, the Queen of Sheba visits Solomon (Verse 1). Some scholars believe Sheba refers to southern Arabia, corresponding to modern-day Yemen. Some scholars believe she came from Ethiopia. The main clue is that she brought bales of incense with her as a gift; frankincense only grows in these two areas.

And there is actually an Ethiopian legend that the Queen of Sheba was converted to Solomon’s faith. The amusing thing is that both Yemen and Ethiopia claim that the Queen of Sheba came from their respective country. Given that Yemen and Ethiopia are separated by only 25 km of water, both could be right.

So the distance from Sheba to Jerusalem is about 2,400 km or 1491 miles.

The Queen of Sheba traveled this great distance to verify for herself whether Solomon was truly as wise as reported. Her visit was not to gain more power, wealthy, or fame through Solomon.  The Queen of Sheba came solely to hear the wise words of Solomon.

우리도 하나님의 말씀을 그렇게 간절히 듣고자 해야 합니다. 우리가 주님의 지혜로운 말씀을 들을 때, 스바 여왕과 같은 열정을 가지고 들어야 합니다. 그녀는 솔로몬이 진정으로 지혜를 가졌는지 확인하기 위해 그렇게 멀리 여행했는데, 우리는 어떤가요? 우리가 드리는 예배가 즐겁나요? 하나님의 지혜를 듣기 위해 올인 하나요? 아멘! 우리는 예배를 이렇게 기대해야 합니다. 우리는 주님 앞에 나아가 예배할 때 신나 있어야 합니다.

4-5절에 이렇게 말합니다: “스바의 여왕이 솔로몬의 모든 지혜와 그 건축한 왕궁과 그 상의 식물과 그의 신하들의 좌석과 그의 시종들이 시립한 것과 그들의 관복과 술 관원들과 여호와의 성전에 올라가는 층계를 보고 크게 감동되어."

스바 여왕은 솔로몬의 지혜, 왕궁, 그의 상의 음식, 신하들의 좌석, 시종들, 그리고 그곳에서 드려진 번제에 크게 감동받았습니다. 하지만 그녀를 가장 감동시킨 것은 솔로몬의 입에서 나온 지혜였습니다.

그녀는 매일 솔로몬의 지혜로운 말을 들을 수 있는 왕의 신하들을 부러워했습니다. 그래서 스바 여왕은 지혜를 공유해 준 솔로몬에게 금 120달란트(약 4.1톤), 많은 양의 향료, 그리고 귀중한 보석을 선물로 주었습니다.

We too should want to listen to the Word of God with earnestness. When we listen to the words of wisdom from the Lord, we should do so with the same eagerness as the Queen of Sheba. She traveled such a great distance just to verify if Solomon truly possessed wisdom,

What about us? Do we get excited for worship? Do we get excited to hear the wisdom of God? Amen! We should get excited for worship. We should anticipate for those times when we come before the Lord to worship.

In verse 4-5, it says: “When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the Lord, she was overwhelmed.”

The Queen of Sheba was astounded by Solomon's wisdom, the palace, the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants, and the burnt offerings presented there, to the extent that she was overwhelmed. However, what impressed her the most was the wisdom that came from Solomon's mouth.

She envied the king's officials who could hear Solomon's wise words every day. So the Queen of Sheba ended up presenting Solomon with 120 talents of gold (about 4.1 tons),

a great quantity of spices, and precious stones as gifts, for sharing his wisdom with her.

스바 여왕은 그녀의 나라가 예루살렘에서 2,400km나 떨어져 있기 때문에 솔로몬에게 인상을 줄 특별한 이유가 없습니다. 가까운 나라였다면, 솔로몬에게 자신의 딸을 준 이집트의 파라오처럼, 그 선물이 그의 호의를 얻으려는 시도였다고 결론지을 수 있습니다. 하지만 그렇게 먼 나라에서 온 스바 여왕은 그녀가 들은 지혜에 대한 감사의 표시로 이 선물들을 주었습니다.

지혜의 말에 감사할 줄 아는 스바 여왕은 참으로 지혜로운 여인입니다. 우리는 스바 여왕이 후에 하나님을 계속 섬겼는지, 에디오피아의 전설처럼 솔로몬의 하나님 여호와를 섬기며 평생을 살았는지 알지 못합니다. 하지만 본문에 나타난 것으로 볼 때 스바 여왕은 솔로몬으로부터 들은 하나님의 지혜의 말에 크게 감동받고, 그에 대한 감사로 넉넉한 선물을 표현했다는 것이 분명합니다.

솔로몬도 스바 여왕에게 선물을 주었습니다. 그녀가 원하고 요청한 것은 무엇이든 주었습니다. 스바 여왕은 솔로몬으로부터 받은 선물들을 가지고 자신의 나라로 돌아갔습니다.

The Queen of Sheba had no particular reason to impress Solomon, as her country was 2,400 km away from Jerusalem. Had it been a nearby country, like when Pharaoh of Egypt gave his daughter to Solomon, we can conclude that the gift was to try to gain his favor. But the Queen of Sheba from such a distant land gave these gifts solely as a token of gratitude for the wisdom she heard.

 The Queen of Sheba, who knows how to be thankful for the words of wisdom, is indeed a wise woman. We do not know if the Queen of Sheba continued to serve God afterward,

or lived her life serving Jehovah, the God of Solomon, as the legends of Ethiopia claim. However, from what is described in the text, it is clear that the Queen of Sheba was greatly moved by the words of God's wisdom that came from Solomon, and she expressed her gratitude with generous gifts.

Solomon also gave gifts to the Queen of Sheba. He gave her whatever she desired and asked for. The Queen of Sheba then returned to her country with the gifts from Solomon.

오늘의 성경을 통해 우리는 두 가지로 스바 여왕과 같아야 합니다. 첫째, 받은 은혜에 대해 감사할 줄 아는 법을 알아야 합니다. 감사한다는 것이 반드시 큰 헌금을 바친다는 것을 의미하지는 않습니다. 하나님께서 우리에게 은혜를 베푸셨을 때마다, 우리는 즉시 입을 열어 하나님께 감사하고 찬양해야 합니다. 물론, 스바 여왕처럼 그 감사를 선물로 표현하는 열정을 가지고 표현할 수도 있겠죠. 가장 중요한 것은 주님께 감사할 이유가 있을 때, 감사를 미루지 말고 즉시 표현해야 합니다.

둘째, 간절함과 감사는 마음속에만 간직해서는 안 됩니다. 간절함이 있다면 당연히 찾아가는 것이고, 감사하다면 그 감사를 어떤 방식으로든 표현하는 것입니다. 이것은 우리의 간절함과 감사가 진실한 것임을 증명할 것입니다. 기억하십시오, 마음속에만 있는 간절함과 감사는 의미가 없습니다. 마치 '저는 마음속으로는 기독교인이지만 예배나 기도를 가거나 하고 싶지 않습니다'라고 하는 것과 같습니다. 수요 예배 때 담임 목사님께서 말씀하신 것처럼, 우리는 내면과 겉모습이 같아야 합니다.

오늘 우리가 하나님을 간절히 찾을 수 있기를 기도합니다. 우리가 지금까지 살면서 하나님이 주신 모든 축복에 대해 진심으로 하나님께 큰 소리로 감사하길 바랍니다.

Through today’s scriptures we need to be like the Queen of Sheba in two ways.

First, we need to know how to be thankful for the grace received. Being thankful does not necessarily mean giving a huge offering.  It means that whenever you realize that God has granted you grace, you should immediately open your mouth to thank and praise Him. Of course, it would be even better if that gratitude could be expressed with the earnestness of presenting gifts, like the Queen of Sheba did. In any case, when there is a reason to be thankful to the Lord, do not delay but give thanks immediately.

Second, Earnestness and gratitude should not just be kept inside. If you are earnest, it is natural to seek out; if you are grateful, it is natural to express that gratitude in some way. This will prove that your earnestness and gratitude are genuine. Remember, earnestness and gratitude that are only in the heart are meaningless. It is like saying I’m Christian in my heart, but I don’t want to go to worship or pray. Just like what our senior pastor said during our Wednesday service, we need to be the same inside and out.

I pray that today, we will be able to seek God earnestly. Let us truly thank God out loud about all the blessings that God has given us during our lives so far.

시편 63:1을 읽어드리겠습니다. 이 말씀이 오늘 우리의 기도가 될 수 있기를 바랍니다.

하나님이여 주는 나의 하나님이시라 내가 간절히 주를 찾되 물이 없어 마르고 황폐한 땅에서 내 영혼이 주를 갈망하며 내 육체가 주를 앙모하나이다.

이 시편은 다윗이 압살롬으로부터 도망치고 있을 때, 광야에서 목마름을 느꼈을 때 쓰였습니다. 그는 '간절히 주를 찾습니다'라고 말했습니다. '간절히'는 '일찍 찾는다'라는 뜻의 히브리어에서 왔습니다.

우리가 문제에 부딪힐 때, 우리의 자연스러운 반응은 세상적인 수단으로 그것을 처리하려는 것입니다. 하지만, 우리는 하나님을 찾는 것을 우선순위로 삼아야 합니다. 하나님을 마지막 수단으로 사용하지 말고, 하나님을 우리의 제일의 우선순위로 찾읍시다.

I will read for you. Psalm 63:1. I hope that this can be our prayer to Him today.

You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

This psalm was written by David when he was running away from Absalom and he was thirsty in the wilderness. He said Earnestly I seek you. Earnestly is from a Hebrew word that means to seek early.

When we run into a problem, our natural reaction is try to take care of it with worldly means. However, we must make seeking God a priority. Let’s not use God as our last resort but let us seek God as our number one priority.
