2:1 다윗이 죽을 날이 임박하매 그의 아들 솔로몬에게 명령하여 이르되
1 When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
2:2 내가 이제 세상 모든 사람이 가는 길로 가게 되었노니 너는 힘써 대장부가 되고
2:3 네 하나님 여호와의 명령을 지켜 그 길로 행하여 그 법률과 계명과 율례와 증거를 모세의 율법에 기록된 대로 지키라 그리하면 네가 무엇을 하든지 어디로 가든지 형통할지라
2:4 여호와께서 내 일에 대하여 말씀하시기를 만일 네 자손들이 그들의 길을 삼가 마음을 다하고 성품을 다하여 진실히 내 앞에서 행하면 이스라엘 왕위에 오를 사람이 네게서 끊어지지 아니하리라 하신 말씀을 확실히 이루게 하시리라
2 “I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, 3 and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go 4 and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’
2:5 스루야의 아들 요압이 내게 행한 일 곧 이스라엘 군대의 두 사령관 넬의 아들 아브넬과 예델의 아들 아마사에게 행한 일을 네가 알거니와 그가 그들을 죽여 태평 시대에 전쟁의 피를 흘리고 전쟁의 피를 자기의 허리에 띤 띠와 발에 신은 신에 묻혔으니
2:6 네 지혜대로 행하여 그의 백발이 평안히 스올에 내려가지 못하게 하라
5 “Now you yourself know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two commanders of Israel’s armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood he stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet. 6 Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.
2:7 마땅히 길르앗 바르실래의 아들들에게 은총을 베풀어 그들이 네 상에서 먹는 자 중에 참여하게 하라 내가 네 형 압살롬의 낯을 피하여 도망할 때에 그들이 내게 나왔느니라
7 “But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead and let them be among those who eat at your table. They stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
2:8 바후림 베냐민 사람 게라의 아들 시므이가 너와 함께 있나니 그는 내가 마하나임으로 갈 때에 악독한 말로 나를 저주하였느니라 그러나 그가 요단에 내려와서 나를 영접하므로 내가 여호와를 두고 맹세하여 이르기를 내가 칼로 너를 죽이지 아니하리라 하였노라
2:9 그러나 그를 무죄한 자로 여기지 말지어다 너는 지혜 있는 사람이므로 그에게 행할 일을 알지니 그의 백발이 피 가운데 스올에 내려가게 하라
8 “And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord: ‘I will not put you to death by the sword.’ 9 But now, do not consider him innocent. You are a man of wisdom; you will know what to do to him. Bring his gray head down to the grave in blood.”
2:10 다윗이 그의 조상들과 함께 누워 다윗 성에 장사되니

10 Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. 11 He had reigned forty years over Israel—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem. 12 So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his rule was firmly established.
오늘 본문의 다윗의 유언은 두 가지 주요 부분으로 나뉩니다. 첫 번째 부분은 솔로몬이 왕으로 어떻게 행동해야 하는지에 중점을 둡니다(2-4절), 두 번째 부분은 다윗이 죽기 직전 마무리하지 못한 일에 대해 다룹니다(5-9절).
담대하라 (절 2-4)

다윗이 왜 솔로몬에게 죽기 직전 이것을 말하고 있는 걸까요? 왜냐하면 솔로몬이 어떠한 유혹으로 인해 강하지 못할수 있기 때문입니다. 또 시련 앞에 담대하지 못할수도 있기 때문입니다. 시련 때문에 하나님의 말씀을 따르지 않으려는 유혹을 받을 수도 있기 때문입니다. 만약에 솔로몬이 담대하고 순종하지 않는다면 어떻게 되겠습니까? 그는 하나님께서 주시는 많은 축복을 놓칠 것입니다.
Today’s passage is divided into two main parts. The first part focuses on how Solomon should conduct himself as a king (verses 2-4), while the second part deals with David's unfinished business right before he dies (verses 5-9).
Be Courageous (V.2-4)
Let’s read verse 2 and 3 all together.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, 3 and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.”
Why is David telling Solomon this right before he dies? Because Solomon will be tempted to not be strong. He will be tempted to not be courageous. He will be tempted to not follow the Word of God. And if Solomon would not be strong and obedient, what would happen? He would miss out on the many blessings from God.
이 메세지는 아버지인 다윗이 아들인 솔로몬에게 주는 메세지입니다. 그러나 이 메세지는 우리 모두에게 적용됩니다. David Platt 목사님 이 부분에 대해 이런 말씀을 하셨습니다.
이 세상에서 하나님의 말씀을 따르는 것은 쉽지 않습니다. 하나님께서 약속하신 용기와 힘이 필요하며, 우리가 그분의 공급하심을 신뢰하고 오늘날 이 세상에서 그분과 함께 신실하게, 그분 앞에서 용기 있게 행할 때, 우리는 하나님께서 우리를 축복하실 것임을 알 수 있습니다. 하나님께서 우리를 인도하시고, 공급하셔서 우리가 그분의 형통함을 알 수 있습니다.
이 세상은 형통함과 축복이란 단어들을 생각 해보면 많은 돈과 좋은 건강을 생각 할 것입니다. 그리고 번영복음에 대해 생각 할 수도 있습니다. 번영복음이란 우리가 예수 그리스도에 대한 진정한 믿음이 있다면 우리의 삶에 물질적, 재정적으로 형통할 것이라고 주장하는 것 입니다. 하지만 하나님은 우리가 삶을 바치면 우리가 건강하고 부자가 될 것이라고 약속한 적이 없습니다. 사실, 우리는 실제로 몇 가지를 잃을 수도 있고 몇 가지를 포기해야 할 수도 있습니다.
하나님은 우리에게 건강과 돈보다 훨씬 더 영원한 것을 약속하셨습니다. 우리가 하나님에게 담대하게 순종을 한다면 하나님은 우리에게 영생을 약속하셨습니다.
우리의 삶 가운데 많은 유혹이 있을 것입니다. 그래서 우리는 기도하고 하나님의 말씀을 알아야 합니다. 우리가 하나님의 말씀을 안다면, 우리는 세상과 예수 그리스도 사이의 차이를 분별할 수 있으며, 모든 세속적인 유혹을 견뎌낼 수 있을 것입니다. 그래서 우리는 이 사악한 세상에서 견고하고 담대해야 합니다.
Obviously, this message is from a father to a son. However, this message applies to all of us. Pastor David Platt wrote this regarding these verses:
It is not easy to follow God’s word in this world. It requires courage and strength that God promises to provide and when we trust in His provision and when we walk faithfully with Him, courageously before Him, in this world today, we can know that God will bless us. That God will lead us, guide us, provide for us, that we might know His prosperity.
When we say, it will lead to blessings and prosperity, we think about us being rich and healthy. We think about the prosperity gospel which claims that if we have true faith in Jesus Christ, that will surely lead us to physical, material, and financial prosperity in our lives. God never promised us that we would be healthy and rich if we give our lives to Him. In fact, we might actually lose things and have to give away some our belongings.
However, God promised us something better than just health and wealth. If we walk faithfully with him courageously, God has promised us eternal life.
There will be many temptations. This is why we need to pray and know the Word of God. If we know the Word of God, we will be able to tell the difference between the world and Jesus. And we will be able to fight off all the worldly temptations. So, we have to stand firm and be courageous when we are living in this wicked world.
다윗의 마무리되지 않은 일 (절 5-9)

David’s unfinished business (V.5-9)
David first instructs Solomon regarding Joab, the long-time commander. As you might remember from 2 Samuel, Joab killed Abner revenging for his brother Asahel. He also killed Amasa out of ambition for power. Therefore, David advises Solomon to deal with Joab wisely.
Next, David instructs Solomon to show kindness to the sons of Barzillai of Gilead who provided assistance to David and his followers while they were fleeing from Absalom. This was when David was helped when he fled to Mahanaim, and how Barzillai accompanied him and his company to the Jordan River, supplying them with necessary provisions. When David offered to bring Barzillai to Jerusalem with him to repay his kindness, Barzillai declined to live out his days in his own land. However, he requested that his son Kimham go instead. David honored Barzillai's request and brought Kimham with him to Jerusalem. David instructs Solomon to continue showing grace to the sons of Barzillai.
David's final words concerned of Shimei, the son of Gera, a Benjaminite who cursed David with malicious words as he fled to Mahanaim. He blamed David for the death of King Saul during the battle with the Philistines. So Shimei wanted Absalom to be the king. David’s men wanted to kill Shimei , but David believed the Lord had sent Shimei to curse him, and he refused to allow his men to kill Shimei. Eventually, Absalom’s rebellion was put down, Absalom was killed, and King David was restored to the throne. Shimei knew that he was in trouble so he later came to David and apologized for all of his bad behaviors.
Although David would not kill Shimei, David wanted Solomon to know that he is not innocent.
다윗의 마지막 (절 10-12)
이새의 여덟 아들 중 막내인 다윗은 겸손한 목자 소년으로 시작하여 이스라엘에서 가장 위대한 왕이 되었으며, 헤브론에서 7년, 예루살렘에서 33년 동안 다스리며, 조상들과 함께 다윗 성에 묻혔습니다.
요압, 바르실래, 시므이, 다윗의 삶을 통해 우리는 하나님께서 우리의 삶을 지켜보시며 우리가 하나님 앞에, 하나님의 말씀 앞에 심은 대로 거두게 하시는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 하루하루 하나님 앞에 살아갈 때, 바르실래와 다윗과 같이 하나님의 말씀을 마음밭과 세상에 뿌리고 하나님의 축복을 거둡시다. 하나님은 우리에게 놀라운 부와 건강을 축복하지 않으실 수도 있지만, 하나님 나라로 인해 우리에게 더 큰 기업을 주실 술 믿습니다.
The end of David (V.10-12)
David, the youngest of Jesse's eight sons, started as a humble shepherd boy and rose to become the greatest king in Israel, reigning for 40 years, seven in Hebron and 33 in Jerusalem, before being buried in the City of David alongside his ancestors.
Through the lives of Joab, Barzillai, Shimei, and David, we can see that God watches over our lives and causes us to reap what we sow before Him and His Word. As we live out each day before God, may we sow His Word in the fields of our hearts and in the world, reaping the blessings of God like companions such as Barzillai and David. God might not bless us with amazing wealth or healthy but He has given us a greater inheritance in the Kingdom of God.
