48:1 여호와는 위대하시니 우리 하나님의 성, 거룩한 산에서 극진히 찬양 받으시리로다
1 Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
in the city of our God, his holy mountain.
2 터가 높고 아름다워 온 세계가 즐거워함이여 큰 왕의 성 곧 북방에 있는 시온 산이 그러하도다
3 하나님이 그 여러 궁중에서 자기를 요새로 알리셨도다
2 Beautiful in its loftiness,
the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon[b] is Mount Zion,
the city of the Great King.
3 God is in her citadels;
he has shown himself to be her fortress.
4 왕들이 모여서 함께 지나갔음이여
5 그들이 보고 놀라고 두려워 빨리 지나갔도다
6 거기서 떨림이 그들을 사로잡으니 고통이 해산하는 여인의 고통 같도다

4 When the kings joined forces,
when they advanced together,
5 they saw her and were astounded;
they fled in terror.
6 Trembling seized them there,
pain like that of a woman in labor.
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish
shattered by an east wind.

8 As we have heard,
so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
in the city of our God:
God makes her secure

9 Within your temple, O God,
we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 Like your name, O God,
your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
the villages of Judah are glad
because of your judgments.
12 너희는 시온을 돌면서 그 곳을 둘러보고 그 망대들을 세어 보라
13 그의 성벽을 자세히 보고 그의 궁전을 살펴서 후대에 전하라
12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
view her citadels,
that you may tell of them
to the next generation.

오늘은 시편 48편을 읽었습니다. 이 시는 시온 산과 예루살렘의 강함, 높음, 그리고 아름다움을 찬양합니다. 그러나 실제로는 시편저자는 이 노래를 통해 예루살렘이 그토록 강하고 아름다운 이유가 다름 아닌 그곳에 계시는 영광스러운 하나님의 존재 때문이라고 보여줍니다. 저자는 하나님의 강력하신 능력과 아름다움을 찬양합니다.

Today, we read Psalm 48, which sings of the strength, height, and beauty of Mount Zion, the city of Jerusalem. However, in reality, the psalmist, through this song, indicates that the reason Jerusalem is so strong and beautiful is nothing other than the presence of the glorious God who resides there. The psalmist praises God's mighty power and beauty.
First, let's listen to the psalmist's praise. Verse 1 says, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in His holy mountain." The psalmist declares that the Lord God is great, signifying His greatness. Thus, he invites us to "praise Him greatly" in the city of our God, which is Mount Zion. This means offering the highest praise to the highest God. This is the goal of our lives: to offer God our highest praise
In verse 2, the psalmist describes how the great God dwells and how the praise for God resounds within Jerusalem, the city of the Lord. It says, “Beautiful in its loftiness, the joy of the whole earth, like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion, the city of the Great King." Just as kings do not live in ordinary houses, but in palaces, the higher and more majestic the king, the higher and more magnificent the palace.
저자는 예루살렘의 아름다움을 2절에서 네 가지로 묘사합니다.
먼저, 예루살렘은 높고 아름다운 벽이 있는 도시입니다. 하나님이 거주하는 예루살렘은 마치 산 정상에 우뚝 솟아 있는 봉우리와 같이 세상에서 가장 높은 영광을 차지합니다. 두 번째, 세상의 기쁨이 그 벽 안에 거주합니다. 즉, 예루살렘에 거주하시는 하나님은 전체 세상의 기쁨입니다. 세 번째로, 예루살렘은 위대한 왕의 도시입니다. 네 번째로, 그것은 북쪽에 위치해 있습니다. In this sense, the psalmist describes the beauty of Jerusalem in four ways.
First, Jerusalem is a city with high and beautiful walls. Like a peak towering on a mountain top, Jerusalem, where God dwells, occupies the highest position of glory in the whole world. Second, the joy of the whole earth resides within its walls. That is, because God, who dwells in Jerusalem, is the joy of the whole world. Third, Jerusalem is a city of the Great King. Fourth, it is on the sides of the north. The expression "Mount Zion on the sides of the north" originally refers to a mountain where the highest deity dwells in Canaanite mythology. So It praises how incomparably beautiful and high God is, who resides there.
In verse 3, the psalmist describes how the Lord, the King, becomes a refuge for the people dwelling within the city. As a result, enemies cannot recklessly attack the city of Jerusalem.

Look at verses 4-7. I will read it in the Message Bible Translation. "(Psalm 48:4) The kings got together, they united and came (Psalm 48:5) They took one look and shook their heads, they scattered and ran away. (Psalm 48:6) They doubled up in pain like a woman having a baby (Psalm 48:7) You smashed the ships of Tarshish with a storm out of the East." Nations gathered together to attack Israel. However, when they saw the mighty and strong walls of Jerusalem, they were amazed and terrified, fleeing in fear. As mentioned earlier, the purpose of the psalmist is not merely to sing about the greatness of Jerusalem, but to show the greatness of God who resides there. The psalmist depicts visually how great and powerful God is through the imagery of shattering the mighty and glorious ships of Tarshish with the wind.
Verse 8 is the response of the Israelite community to the psalmist's declaration. They heard and witnessed how the Lord made the attacking enemies of Jerusalem terrified and flee. The people testify that they have seen how the Lord always keeps the city safe. They are confident that the Lord will make Jerusalem strong forever.
이제 하나님의 집인 성전 안에서 살고 있는 이스라엘 사람들은 하나님의 성품과 그분의 능력을 명상하며 찬양합니다. 9-11절은 하나님을 찬양하는 사람들의 고백을 나타냅니다.
하나님이여 우리가 주의 전 가운데에서 주의 인자하심을 생각하였나이다. (9)
9절에서 사용된 "인자하심"이라는 용어는 '헤세드'에서 나옵니다. 헤세드는 그냥 세상적인 사랑이 아니라 충실하고 충성스러운 사랑입니다. 결코 실패하지 않는 하나님의 사랑입니다. 우리를 끝까지 붙들어놓을 그분의 사랑이 바로 헤세드 입니다.

우리 주님의 이름은 유명하고 땅 끝까지 뻗어갑니다. 하나님의 명성은 크게 높아져 온 땅에 가득하게 될 것입니다. 동시에 하나님을 찬양하는 소리는 땅 끝에서 끝까지 울려 퍼집니다.
주의 심판으로 말미암아 시온 산은 기뻐하고 유다의 딸들은 즐거워할지어다 (11)
11절은 마치 사람처럼 기뻐하는 듯이 시온산을 묘사합니다. 하나님의 백성들이 기쁨을 느끼는 이유는 하나님의 재판 때문입니다. 그들은 이스라엘의 적, 열국들을 심판하고 예루살렘과 그의 백성을 구원하시는 하나님으로 매우 기뻐하고 큰 소리로 찬양합니다.

Now, the Israelites living within the city, in the house of God, the temple, meditate on God's character and His power, praising the Lord. Verses 9-11 express the confession of the people who gather to worship God.
Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. (9)
The term "unfailing love" used in verse 9 is 'hesed'. Hesed is not a romantic type of love but it is a faithful and a loyal type of love. It is God's love that will never fail. It is His love that will hold onto us until the very end.
Like your name, O God, your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; your right hand is filled with righteousness. (10)
Our Lord's name is famous and reaches to the ends of the earth. God's fame will become great and fill the whole earth. At the same time, the sound of praising God resonates from one end of the earth to the other.
Mount Zion rejoices, the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments. (11)
Verse 11 describes Mount Zion as if it were rejoicing like a person. The reason why God's people are joyful is because of God's judgment. They rejoice and shout loudly for joy to God because He judges the nations, enemies of Israel, and saves Jerusalem and His people.
Verses 12-14 urges us to march around Zion and look back, realizing again how blessed this city is, how great God is. Let's look at verses 12-13. "Walk around Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation." The psalmist encourages them to thoroughly examine the city walls and enjoy the greatness and beauty of God, who saved them from their enemies. Finally, in verse 14, the psalmist concludes the poem with a confession of faith that the great and beautiful God will guide us until our lives are over. "For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end."
오늘의 성경 구절에 등장하는 하나님이 거주하시는 예루살렘은 또한 예수 그리스도를 믿고 따르는 우리 각각을 나타냅니다. 이것은 예수 그리스도를 통해 우리가 하나님의 성령을 갖고 있다는 뜻입니다. 과거에는 하나님의 위대하고 강력한 존재로 인해 예루살렘의 백성들이 놀라운 은혜와 축복을 누렸습니다. 지금 시대에서는 우리는 하나님의 성령이 우리 안에 거주함으로써 놀라운 은혜와 축복을 누립니다. 주님이 우리와 함께 계시므로, 세상이나 사탄이 두렵지 않아도 됩니다. 그들은 오히려 우리 안에 거주하시는 주님을 보고 두려워하고 도망갈 줄 믿습니다.
사랑하는 성도님들, 우리의 영광은 우리 자신에게 있는 것이 아니라 우리 안에 있는 성령님을 통해 있는 줄 믿습니다. 기쁨 가득한 마음으로 함께 주님을 찬양합시다. 최고의 하나님께 최고의 찬양을 바칩시다. 하나님이 우리를 끝까지 인도하실 줄 믿습니다. 그 믿음을 매일 고백하며 선포하며 오직 주님을 섬기는 우리가 되길 바랍니다.
The Jerusalem, where God resides, mentioned in today's passage, also signifies each and every one of us who believe in and follow Jesus Christ. This is because through faith in Jesus Christ, we have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within us. In the past, because of God's great and powerful presence in Jerusalem, the people enjoyed amazing grace and blessings. Now, as saints, we also enjoy amazing grace and blessings through the Holy Spirit of God who dwells within us. Since the Lord is with us, there is no reason for the world or Satan to be afraid. Rather, they will be afraid and flee when they see the Lord who dwells within us.
Beloved saints, the glory of the saints is not in themselves, but in the Holy Spirit of God who dwells within them. Praise the Lord who is with us with joyful hearts. Offer the highest praise to the highest God. I bless you in the name of the Lord that He will guide us until the end, confessing in faith that He will serve only the Lord and live our lives.
