28:1 악인은 쫓아오는 자가 없어도 도망하나 의인은 사자 같이 담대하니라
1 The wicked flee though no one pursues,
but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
28:2 나라는 죄가 있으면 주관자가 많아져도 명철과 지식 있는 사람으로 말미암아 장구하게 되느니라
2 When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers,
but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.
28:3 가난한 자를 학대하는 가난한 자는 곡식을 남기지 아니하는 폭우 같으니라
3 A ruler who oppresses the poor
is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
28:4 율법을 버린 자는 악인을 칭찬 하나 율법을 지키는 자는 악인을 대적하느니라
4 Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked,
but those who heed it resist them.
28:5 악인은 정의를 깨닫지 못하나 여호와를 찾는 자는 모든 것을 깨닫느니라
5 Evildoers do not understand what is right,
but those who seek the Lord understand it fully.
28:6 가난하여도 성실하게 행하는 자는 부유하면서 굽게 행하는 자 보다 나으니라
6 Better the poor whose walk is blameless
than the rich whose ways are perverse.
28:7 율법을 지키는 자는 지혜로운 아들이요 음식을 탐하는 자와 사귀는 자는 아비를 욕되게 하는 자니라
7 A discerning son heeds instruction,
but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
28:8 중한 변리로 자기 재산을 늘이는 것은 가난한 사람을 불쌍히 여기는 자를 위해 그 재산을 저축하는 것이니라
8 Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor
amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
28:9 사람이 귀를 돌려 율법을 듣지 아니하면 그의 기도도 가증하니라
9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction,
even their prayers are detestable.
28:10 정직한 자를 악한 길로 유인하는 자는 스스로 자기 함정에 빠져도 성실한 자는 복을 받느니라
10 Whoever leads the upright along an evil path
will fall into their own trap,
but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
28:11 부자는 자기를 지혜롭게 여기나 가난해도 명철한 자는 자기를 살펴 아느니라
11 The rich are wise in their own eyes;
one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.
28:12 의인이 득의하면 큰 영화가 있고 악인이 일어나면 사람이 숨느니라
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great elation;
but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.
28:13 자기의 죄를 숨기는 자는 형통하지 못하나 죄를 자복하고 버리는 자는 불쌍히 여김을 받으리라
13 Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
28:14 항상 경외하는 자는 복되거니와 마음을 완악하게 하는 자는 재앙에 빠지리라
14 Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
11살 때쯤 저는 아주 미성숙하고 학교에서는 왕따를 당했었습니다. 그래서 더 잘 차려 입으려고 노력했고, 더 좋은 성적을 받으려고 노력했고, 스포츠를 잘하려고 노력했지만, 아무것도 도움이 되지 않았습니다. 이제 말하려는 것은 매우 부끄러울 수 있지만, 아주 오래전의 일이므로 괜찮다고 생각합니다. 저는 학교 친구들에게 acceptance를 너무나 받고 싶었습니다. 그래서 제가 학교에 있는 모든 사람들에게 “어떤 물건이든 훔칠 수 있다고 말만 하라고” 말입니다. 그래서 저는 가계에서 물건들을 훔치고 그 학생들에게 반값으로 다 팔았습니다. 어떤 가계로 들어갈 때는 항상 두세 사람이 있었고, 가방, 드라이버, 큰 잠바를 챙기고 들어간 것입니다. 그 가계 있는 동안 저는 너무나 불안하고 무서웠습니다.
우리는 모두 Fred Meyer, H-Mart 또는 Best Buy 같은 상점에 물건을 사러 갔습니다. 물건을 사러 상점에 들어가면 불안하거나 걱정할 이유가 없습니다. 그러나 물건을 훔치러 가면 어쩔 수 없이 불안하기도 하고 경비원이 나를 보고 있는지 수시로 확인해야 합니다. 손에 땀이 나기 시작하고 숨쉬기가 어려워집니다. 이것이 죄를 짓는 사람들에게 일어나는 현상이며, 또한 항상 불안함에서 삽니다.
When I was around 11, I was very immature and I was an outcast. I tried to dress better, I tried to get better grades, I tried to play sports, but nothing helped. What I’m about to say next is very embarrassing but since it happened a very long time ago, it’s OK. I wanted to receive so much attention and acceptance that I told people in school that I could shoplift anything. So I would sell it to other people for half price of the retail cost. With a couple people, I would have a big puffy jacket, a backpack, a screwdriver, and I would go into the stores. The whole time I was in the store, I would be so nervous and scared that I would be caught.
We all go to stores like Fred Meyer, H-Mart, or Best Buy to buy stuff. If you are going into the store to buy something, there is no reason for you to be scared or anxious. But if you go into the store to shoplift something, you can’t help but look over your shoulders and make sure that the security guards aren’t looking at you. Your hands start to get sweaty, and breathing gets a little harder. This Is what happens to those who sin. You constantly look over your shoulders.
오늘 성경의 1절에서는 "악인은 쫓아오는 자가 없어도 도망하나 의인은 사자 같이 담대하니라"라고 말합니다. 죄를 짓는 사람이나 악인은 다른 사람들에게 충고나 경고의 말을 듣지 않아도 됩니다. 왜냐하면 죄를 짓게 되면 양심에 찔림을 받게 됩니다. 또는 옆에서 기침 소리가 들리거나 문을 두드리는 소리에 놀라게 됩니다. 이것이 죄를 지은 사람이 경험하는 죄책감입니다. 또한 자신이 잡힐까 봐 두려워합니다. 경찰차를 보면 최대한 자연스럽게 행동하려고 하지만 오히려 그러한 행동이 더 부자연스러워 보이게 됩니다. 그러나 반대로 의로운 사람은 항상 담대할 것입니다. 왜냐하면 그들은 아무것도 잘못하지 않았기 때문입니다. 경찰차가 지나가도 의로운 사람은 불안해하지 않으며 오히려 안전하게 보호받는다고 느낄 것입니다. 그러므로 악인은 항상 자신이 심판을 받을 것을 알고 불안해할 것이고, 의인은 담대하게 되어 하나님께서 그들을 보호하시리라고 확신할 것입니다. 악을 행하는 사람들은 일상적으로 불안과 걱정 속에서 살지만 올바른 일을 하는 사람들은 항상 평화를 누릴 것입니다. 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살면 천국의 평화를 경험할 것입니다. 하나님과 조화롭게 살아가는 삶에서 나오는 이 평화를 즐기시기는 성도님들이 되시길 바랍니다.
In Verse 1 of today’s scriptures, it says The wicked flee though no one pursues. A person who is wicked or who sins does not need someone else to them that they are wrong. They are condemned by their own conscience. They startle at the sound of someone coughing next to them or someone knocking on their door. This is the guilt that a person who commits sin experiences. They also live in fear that they will be caught. When they see a police car, they will try their best to act natural, but they can’t. However, someone who is righteous will always be courageous. Because they have done nothing wrong. Even if a police car drives by, the righteous person will not be anxious. They will feel protected instead.
Thus, the evildoer will always be anxious, knowing that God will judge them, while the righteous are bold, knowing that God will protect them. Those who commit evil live with anxiety and worry in their daily lives, but those who do what is right always enjoy peace. Those who live according to God's will experience the peace of heaven. May you enjoy this peace that comes from living a life free from sin and in harmony with God.
이제 2절을 살펴보시겠습니다: "나라는 죄가 있으면 주관자가 많아져도 명철과 지식 있는 사람으로 말미암아 장구하게 되느니라." 나라의 리더들 가운데 부패가 있으면, 그 나라는 큰일이 날것입니다. 그리고 만약 그 리더들 사이에 탐욕이 있다면, 지도자들은 자주 바뀌게 되고 국가는 혼란과 불안의 상태로 내몰리게 될 것입니다. 그러나 지혜롭고 지식 있는 사람이 지도자로 임명되면 그 나라는 안정을 찾을 것입니다. 명철과 지식 있는 사람은 성경의 가치에 따라 나라를 이끄는 사람들입니다.
만약 절대적인 진리인 성경의 기초가 무너진다면, 모든 사람이 자신의 생각이 옳다고 주장하는 세대가 나올 것입니다. 아니. 우리는 이미 이러한 절대적인 진리가 무너지고 있다는 것을 보고 있습니다. 낙태, 동성애 결혼, 성전환 수술 및 약물 사용이 이제 일상생활 속에서 당연시되어가고 있습니다. 심지어 동성 결혼이 허용된다고 주장하는 교회도 보입니다. 시애틀 다운타운에 가보시면 카페들과 다양한 교회에서 큰 무지개 깃발이 걸려있고 "모두 환영합니다"라고 적혀 있습니다. "모든 성별에 대해 판단이 없는 지역"이라는 간판도 보입니다.
Let's look at verse 2: When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order. When there is corruption among the leaders of a nation, the very functioning of the nation comes to a halt. And when there are corrupt politicians, the leaders will change frequently, and the nation will be led to a state of confusion and instability. However, if a wise and knowledgeable person is appointed as the leader, the nation will find its stability. A ruler with discernment and knowledge is someone who governs the nation according to the values of the Bible.
If the foundation of the absolute truth, the Bible, crumbles, a generation may emerge where everyone claims that their own thoughts are correct. And nowadays we already see the absolute truth crumbling. We see people having abortions, same-sex marriages, gender affirmation surgeries, and drug use. All these things are now normalized as everyday life. We see even churches who are saying same-sex marriages are OK. When you go closer to Downtown Seattle, you will see coffee shops and various churches with a big rainbow flag, and it says all are welcome. You will see signs that say “judgement free zone” for all genders.
이것이 우리 세상의 모습입니다. 왜 이런 일이 벌어지고 있는 걸까요? 왜냐하면 우리는 절대적인 진리에 의존하지 않고 있기 때문입니다. 우리는 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살고 있지 않습니다. 이것이 교회가 깨어나야 하는 이유입니다. 우리 사회가 절대적인 진리로 살려면 교회가 깨어나야 합니다. 교회는 다음 세대를 신앙 안에서 양육하여 세상의 기준을 되돌릴 수 있도록 해야 합니다. 지금의 교회가 다음 세대에 최선을 다해 투자하고 그들을 이 세상의 다음 지도자로 키울 수 있는 교회들이 되길 간절히 기도합니다.
이제 4-5절을 보시겠습니다. 4 율법을 버린 자는 악인을 칭찬 하나 율법을 지키는 자는 악인을 대적하느니라 5 악인은 정의를 깨닫지 못하나 여호와를 찾는 자는 모든 것을 깨닫느니라
율법을 버리는 자는 누구인가요? 하나님의 말씀을 버리는 사람입니다. 그리고 이 모습이 바로 세상의 모습입니다. 우리는 하나님과 세상을 구별할 수 있어야 합니다. 그러나 하나님을 알지 못하면 우리는 정의도 이해할 수 없을 것입니다. 그러므로 우리는 계속해서 성경을 읽고 연구해야 합니다. 만약에 성경을 모르고 세상과 벗이 되면 하나님과는 적이 될 것입니다. 우리는 세상과 하나님을 모두 다 가질 수 없습니다. 반드시 하나를 선택해야 합니다. 우리가 하나님을 택하고 찾으면 정의를 알게 될 것입니다. 우리 모두가 하나님을 택하고 하나님과 벗이 되기를 소망합니다.
This is what our world looks like now. Why is this happening? Because we are not relying on our absolute truth. We are not living according to the will of God. This is why churches need to wake up. For our society to live with absolute truth, the churches need to wake up. Churches need to fully invest in this next generation so that they may change back the standards of this world. I pray that the churches of this generation may fully invest in the next generation and raise them as the next leaders of this world.
Let's look at verse 4-5. 4 Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked, but those who heed it resist them. 5 Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
Who are those who forsake instruction? Who are those who forsake the Word of God? This is the world. We need to be able to differentiate between God and the world. However, if you do not know God, then you will not be able to understand what is right and what is wrong. So we need to continue to read and study this Bible. Ultimately, if you become friends with the world, that would make you enemies with God. Because you cannot have both the world and God. You will need to choose. When we choose and seek God, we will know what is right and what is wrong. I pray that we will all be able to choose God and be friends with God.
이제 6절을 살펴보시겠습니다. 가난하여도 성실하게 행하는 자는 부유하면서 굽게 행하는 자 보다 나으니라. 두 사람이 있습니다. 한 사람은 부지런히 일하면서 가난하고, 다른 사람은 사기와 거짓말로 부자가 된 사람입니다. 누가 더 나은 삶을 살고 있을까요? 세상은 결과만을 보기 때문에 부자가 된 사람이 오늘날 사회의 롤 모델이 될 것입니다. 그러나 하나님은 불의한 수단으로 얻은 부자보다는 가난하지만 정직하고 부지런한 삶을 더 높게 평가합니다. 어떤 사람이 얼마나 부자가 되던, 악한 행위를 하는 사람의 미래에는 소망이 없습니다. 그들은 파멸의 길을 걷고 있습니다. 그러나 정직하고 성실하게 살면서 가난하더라도 그들은 미래에 소망을 가지고 있습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님이 그들의 삶을 꼭 붙들어 주실 것이기 때문입니다.
9절을 보면 사람이 귀를 돌려 율법을 듣지 아니하면 그의 기도도 가증하니라. 만약 어떤 사람이 하나님의 뜻에 따라 살려는 관심이 아예 없다면, 하나님께 기도하는 것은 의미가 없을 것입니다. 앞에서 언급한 대로, 하나님은 충성스럽고 정직한 삶을 원하시며, 만일 누군가가 부당한 수단으로 부자가 되기를 계획한다면, 하나님이 그들의 기도에 기뻐하실 수 없을 것입니다. 우리가 신중하게 기도 하기 전에 우리의 기도와 가치관이 하나님의 뜻과 일치하는지 먼저 살펴봐야 합니다.
Let’s look at Verse 6 Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse. Let’s say there are two kinds of people. One person work diligently but is poor. The other person became rich by committing fraud and lying. Who is living a better life? The world only looks at the results. Therefore, the person who became rich would be the role model of today’s society. eHowever, God values a poor but honest and diligent life more than a rich life obtained through unjust means. No matter how much wealth and glory one enjoys, the future of a person who does evil deeds is without hope. They are walking the path of destruction. On the contrary, even if someone is poor, if they live faithfully and honestly, they have hope in the future because God will surely uphold their life.
Let’s look at Verse 9. If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.
If a person has no interest in living according to God's will and insists on their own plans, praying to God would be pointless. As mentioned earlier, God desires a life that is faithful and honest, and if one is planning to become rich through unjust means, how can God be pleased with their prayer? Before seeking help from God, one must first examine whether their will aligns with God's will.
마지막으로, 14절은 항상 경외하는 자는 복되거니와 마음을 완악하게 하는 자는 재앙에 빠지리라
하나님을 경외하며 주님을 따르는 자들은 복의 길을 걷고 있습니다. 그러나 하나님을 무시하고 자기 고집대로 이 세상을 산다면 그런 사람들은 재앙에 빠질 것입니다.
시편 1편에는 하나님의 말씀의 진리를 따르는 자가 복되다(행복하다)고 정의되어 있습니다. 이는 경건하지 않은 자와 세상의 영향을 거부하는 것을 의미합니다. 악한 자들은 영원히 하나님으로부터 분리될 것이지만 복 받은 자들은 천국에서 우리를 위해 예비된 기업을 받게 될 것입니다.
제 기도는 우리 모두가 옳은 것(하나님)과 악한 것(세상)을 분별할 수 있는 믿는 자들이 되기를 바라며, 교회로서 우리가 세상에 반대하고 하나님의 말씀의 진리를 추구하기를 소망합니다.
Lastly, let’s look at verse 14. Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
Those who live in fear of God and follow His ways walk the path of blessing. However, those who ignore God, stubbornly follow their own ways, and harden their hearts. And they will fall into trouble.
In the book of Psalm Chapter 1, it defines being blessed (happy) as someone who follows the truth of the Word of God. This means rejecting influence from the ungodly and the world. The wicked will forever be separated from God but the blessed will receive the inheritance that have been prepared for us in the Kingdom of Heaven.
I pray that we will all be believers who can understand what is right (God) and what is wrong (world). I hope that as a church, we will be able to go against the world and only strive for the truth of the Word of God.
