28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.
4:29 무릇 더러운 말은 너희 입 밖에도 내지 말고 오직 덕을 세우는 데 소용되는 대로 선한 말을 하여 듣는 자들에게 은혜를 끼치게 하라
29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
4:30 하나님의 성령을 근심하게 하지 말라 그 안에서 너희가 구원의 날까지 인치심을 받았느니라
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
4:31 너희는 모든 악독과 노함과 분냄과 떠드는 것과 비방하는 것을 모든 악의와 함께 버리고
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
4:32 서로 친절하게 하며 불쌍히 여기며 서로 용서하기를 하나님이 그리스도 안에서 너희를 용서하심과 같이 하라
32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
한 집안에 며느리 한 사람만 새롭게 들어와도 분위기가 확 달라집니다. 직장에 새로운 신입사원이 들어와도 사무실 분위기가 달라집니다. 하물며 하늘과 땅을 지으신 창조주 하나님이 우리 마음속에 들어 오신다면 그 인생이 얼마나 달라 지겠습니까? 죽음의 권세를 이기신 예수 그리스도께서 우리 마음속에 오셔서 우리를 통치하고 계신다는 것을 믿는 사람들이 바로 그리스도인들 입니다. 여러분 예수 그리스도를 마음속에 모신 후 여러분의 인생은 얼마나 달라 지셨습니까. 여러분의 생각은 지혜는 삶은 어떻게 달라 지셨습니까?
성도 개인의 영성은 개인적이기도 하지만 공동체적이기도 합니다. 그 이유는 개인과 교회 공동체가 서로 유기적으로 연결되어 있기 때문입니다. 교회의 거룩함은 저절로 만들어지는 것이 아닙니다. 서로 연결된 그리스도의 몸된 성도들이 개개인의 삶에서 거룩한 행위를 실천해 나갈 때 그리스도를 세상에 드러내는 거룩한 공동체가 생겨나는 것입니다.
Even if only one new daughter-in-law enters a household, the atmosphere changes dramatically. If a new employee joins the office, the environment feels different. How much more will one's life change when the Creator, who made heaven and earth, enters our hearts? Christians are those who believe that Jesus Christ, who conquered the power of death, reigns in our hearts. How has your life changed since you welcomed Jesus Christ into your heart? How have your thoughts, wisdom, and life changed?
The spirituality of a saint is both personal and communal. This is because individuals and the church community are organically connected. The holiness of the church does not happen by itself. When the saints, as part of the body of Christ, practice holy deeds in their individual lives, a holy community that reveals Christ to the world emerges.
어제 저희가 나눈것 처럼 4장 1절의 시작은 ‘하나님의 부르심에 합당하게 행하라’였습니다. 그리고 이어지는 설명으로 옛사람을 버리고 새 사람을 입으라고 말씀하시면서, 그리스도를 품은 자들의 삶의 습관과 그렇지 않은 자들의 삶의 습관을 비교하였습니다. 오늘 본문은 보다 구체적으로 새사람을 입은 것이 무엇인지를 설명하고 있습니다.
이것은 하나님께서 저희들에게 기대하시는 모습입니다. 그리고 새 사람의 큰 그림은 에베소서 5장 2절에 보면 ‘이 모든 것의 뿌리는 하나님 아버지의 사랑이고, 예수님이 우리를 위해 희생하신 것처럼 결국 남을 위해 희생하는 것’이 새 사람의 모습이 됨을 말씀하고 있습니다.
오늘 본문인 사도 바울의 도덕적 권면은 언뜻 보면 세상의 도덕적 권면처럼 보여 집니다. 하지만 사도 바울의 권면은 세상의 도덕적 가르침과는 분명한 세가지 차이점이 있습니다.
As we discussed yesterday, the beginning of Chapter 4 verse 1 was, "Walk worthy of the calling you have received." It then instructs to cast away the old self and put on the new, contrasting the habits of those who embrace Christ with those who do not. Today's scripture explains in more detail what it means to wear the new self.
This is the image God expects from us. The bigger picture of the new person can be seen in Ephesians 5:2, which says that the root of all this is the love of God the Father, and that sacrificing for others, just as Jesus sacrificed for us, is the essence of the new self.
At first glance, the moral exhortation of Apostle Paul in today's scripture seems like worldly moral teachings. However, Paul's teachings have three distinct differences from worldly ethics.
첫번째 그의 가르침은 그리스도안에 뿌리를 두고 있습니다. 그리스도안에 정체성을 근거로 두고 있다는 것입니다. 그리스도인들의 목적은 단지 착해지는 것이 아닙니다. 그리스도를 진정으로 닮아가는 것입니다.
두번째는 영적 공격인 마귀를 현실로 보고 있습니다. 세번째는 구원의 날이 바로 소망이 됨을 말하고 있습니다.
에베소서 전체에서 자주 등장하는 표현 중에는 ‘그리스도안에서’ 라는 표현이 있습니다. 오늘 본문은 우리가 그리스도 안에 있을 때 기대할 수 있는 변화에 대해 설명합니다. 오늘 새벽 말씀을 통해 내가 그리스도를 품은 자인지 아니면 세상을 품은 자인지 아니면 그리스도와 세상을 적당히 품은 자인지를 점검해 보시기를 바랍니다.
25~30절은 “벗어 버려야 할 네가지 악과 새롭게 입어야 할 세가지 선한 행위”에 대해 말합니다.
25절은 ‘그런즉’으로 시작합니다. 이것은 바로 전 구절에서 그리스도를 품은 자들의 삶의 패턴과 그렇지 않은 자들의 삶을 비교하고, 이어서 ‘그런즉’ 이라 말하며 보다 구체적으로 옛사람을 벗어 버리는 것이 무엇이고 새사람을 입는 것이 무엇인지를 설명하고 있습니다.
Firstly, his teachings are rooted in Christ, basing its identity in Christ. The goal of Christians is not merely to be good; it is to truly become like Christ.
Secondly, he sees spiritual adversaries, demons, as real. Thirdly, he speaks of the Day of Salvation as our hope.
A frequent expression throughout Ephesians is "in Christ." Today's scripture describes the changes we can expect when we are in Christ. Through this morning's word, please reflect on whether you embrace Christ, the world, or try to embrace both.
Verses 25 to 30 discuss "four evils to be shed and three good deeds to be newly adopted."
Verse 25 starts with "Therefore", connecting the previous verses' comparison of the life patterns of those who embrace Christ and those who do not, and further elaborating on what it means to shed the old self and put on the new.
첫째는, 25절에 ‘거짓을 버리고 참된 것을 말하는 것이다’ 라고 말씀합니다. 이것은 십계명 중 9계명과 연결이 됩니다. 사도 바울은 참된 것으로 공동체를 세워가야 함을 이야기 합니다. 이것은 분명히 거짓된 증언이나 거짓된 것으로 남에게 피해를 끼치지 말아야 하는, 도덕적인 부분도 말하는 것이지만 동시에 거짓된 정체성 또한 포함되어 있는 것입니다.
거짓은 허상을 말합니다. 거짓에 거하는 자는 결국 거짓된 복음, 거짓된 예수, 거짓된 교회생활, 거짓된 그리스도인으로 살아가게 됩니다. 나의 죄를 솔직하게 인정하고 받아들이고 고백하는 것, 공동체의 죄를 솔직하게 인지하고 거짓없이 하나님께 나아가는 것이 중요합니다. 거짓으로 하나님께 나아가는 자는 결국 거짓된 구원 속에서 살아가게 될 것입니다.
복음은 착하게 사는 것이 목적이 아닙니다. 복음은 하나님의 이해할 수 없는 사랑을 경험하는 것입니다. 복음은 저와 여러분들과 같이 죄인인 우리가 하나님의 자녀로 받아들여지는 것입니다. 나의 모든 죄가 있는 그대로 받아들여지고 용서받는 것입니다. 그래서 더욱더 하나님의 사랑에 합당하게 행하여 거룩하게 살아가야 하는 것입니다.
Firstly, verse 25 says to "put away falsehood and speak the truth." This connects with the ninth commandment. Paul emphasizes building a community upon truth. While it clearly speaks against bearing false witness and harming others with falsehoods, it also encompasses a false sense of identity.
Falsehood refers to illusions. One who dwells in falsehood will live as a believer of a false gospel, a false Jesus, engage in a false church life, and become a false Christian. It's essential to recognize and confess our sins honestly, approach God with genuineness regarding the sins of the community. Approaching God falsely will lead one to live within a deceptive salvation.
The gospel is not about merely living rightly. It is about experiencing the incomprehensible love of God. The gospel is about sinners like me and you being accepted as God's children. It's about being accepted with all our sins and being forgiven. Therefore, we should live even more worthy of God's love and live a holy life.
그리고 두번째는 26절에 ‘통제되지 않는 분노를 버리고 분노를 통제 함’을 말합니다. 화를 내는 것은 현상이며, 반응 입니다. 그래서 성경은 분을 내어도 죄를 짓지 말라 말씀 하십니다. 그리고 구체적으로 해가 지도록 분을 품지 말라고 했습니다. 이스라엘의 하루의 시작은 해가 지는 저녁 입니다. 곧 분을 품고 하루를 넘기지 말라는 것입니다. 이 말은 분노를 통제 하라는 것을 의미합니다.
나의 분노를 묵상하면 묵상 할수록 분노는 점점 눈사람 처럼 커져가고, 분노가 커지다 보면 그 분노를 일으키는 대상 또는 사건을 왜곡하여 믿게 됩니다. 그러다 보면 분노를 품은 우리의 마음에 마귀가 틈 타게 되는 것입니다. 그래서 27절에서 ‘마귀에게 틈을 주지 말라’ 라고 말씀 하십니다. 우리는 분이 아닌 그리스도를 품어야 합니다. 그래서 분노를 통제하고 내 마음에 다시 그리스도를 품을 수 있는 자가 되어야 합니다.
세번째는 28절에 ‘도둑질하지 말라’ 입니다. 이것은 십계명 중 8계명과 연결됩니다. 도둑질은 범죄를 넘어서 삶의 잘못 된 방향입니다. 일하지 않고 부당한 이득을 취하는 것입니다. 그래서 성경은 도둑질하지 말고 돌이켜 가난한 자에게 구제할 수 있도록, 자기 손으로 수고하여 선한 일을 하라고 말씀 하십니다. 이것은 삶의 목적이자 방향이 되는 것입니다. 부당한 이득을 취하는 자의 삶은 결국 하나님의 생명에서 멀어집니다. 하지만 나의 수고로 어려운 자들을 섬기는 자들의 삶은 그리스도의 생명으로 풍성하게 될 줄 믿습니다.
Secondly, verse 26 speaks of "not letting anger control us and managing our anger." Anger is a reaction. Therefore, the Bible says, even if you are angry, do not sin and do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. In the context of Israel, their day began at sunset, meaning don't carry anger into the next day. This implies controlling one's anger.
Reflecting on one's anger causes it to grow like a snowball. As it grows, one might distort and misperceive the cause or the individual that triggered the anger. This allows the devil an opportunity to infiltrate our hearts. Hence, verse 27 says, "Do not give the devil a foothold." We should harbor Christ, not anger, in our hearts. We need to control our anger and once again embrace Christ in our hearts.
The third point, found in verse 28, is "Do not steal." This is related to the 8th Commandment. Stealing goes beyond crime; it's a wrong direction in life. It's about gaining unfairly without working. Therefore, the Bible tells us not to steal but instead to work with our own hands doing good so that we can help the needy. This becomes the purpose and direction of life. Those who profit unjustly ultimately drift away from God's life. But I believe that those who serve the needy with their efforts will be enriched with the life of Christ.
네번째는 29절과 30절에 ‘더러운 말’ 입니다. 구약에서 더럽다라는 것은 부정한 것을 말합니다. 그리고 부정함의 반대는, 정함 즉 거룩함을 말합니다. 더러운 말은 부정함을 품은 자들의 언어입니다. 그리스도를 품은 자들은 그들의 언어속에 정함과 거룩함이 있습니다.
성경은 ‘더러운 말은 입 밖에도 내지 말고 오직 덕을 세우는데 소용되는 대로 선한 말을하여 듣는 자들에게 은혜를 끼치라’ 말씀 하십니다. 그래서 그리스도인들은 선한 말을 하는 것이 목적이 아니라, 그리스도를 품는 것이 목적이 되어야 합니다. 그리스도를 품게 되면 자연적으로 드러나는 것이 거룩한 언어이며, 생명의 언어이기 때문입니다. 그런 사람들은 소망이 없어 보이는 현재의 삶 속에서도 소망을 선포할 수 있습니다.
우리의 말로 인하여 우리의 가정에 상처가 아닌 회복이 이루어져야 합니다. 그리고 그리스도를 품은 가정들이 모여 교회 공동체가 이루어 지는 것입니다. 성도 여러분, 교회는 예수님의 박물관이 아닙니다. 예수님의 역사를 관람하는 곳이 아닙니다. 교회는 동참하는 곳이고, 영적인 치료가 일어나는 영적인 병원 입니다.
예수님께서 ‘이 땅에 오신 목적은 온전한 자들을 위함이 아닌 병든 자들을 위해 오셨다’라고 말씀 하셨습니다. 저와 여러분에게는 하나님의 형상이 있습니다. 그 형상은 그리스도의 마음 입니다. 그 마음을 품고 우리가 드러내는 말들은 사람들에게 생명을 넘치게 하고, 회복시킬 수 있습니다. 그것이 바로 그리스도로 인해 생명을 나타내고 드러내는 것입니다. 그리스도를 품어 생명이 살아있는 교회가 우리 한사랑 교회인줄 믿습니다.
The fourth is about "foul language" in verses 29 and 30. In the Old Testament, being defiled refers to being unclean, and the opposite of uncleanliness is sanctity or holiness. Foul language is the speech of those with impurity. Those who embrace Christ have sanctity and holiness in their speech.
The Bible says, "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, that it may give grace to those who hear." Therefore, for Christians, the goal isn't just to speak kindly but to embrace Christ. When Christ is embraced, what naturally emerges is a holy language, the language of life. Such people can proclaim hope even in a seemingly hopeless present.
Through our words, our homes should experience healing, not hurt. And homes that embrace Christ come together to form the church community. Dear saints, the church is not a museum of Jesus. It's not a place to merely observe the works of Jesus. The church is a place of participation, a spiritual hospital where healing occurs.
Jesus said, "I came not for the righteous but for the sinners." Both you and I possess the image of God. This image is the heart of Christ. Embracing this heart, the words we express can overflow life into others and bring healing. This is manifesting life through Christ. I believe that our church, Han Sarang Church, is such a living church.
우리가 함께 살펴본 버려할 것과 입어야 하는 것들은 어떻게 보면 빙산의 일각입니다. 각자의 삶에 무엇을 품냐에 따라 거짓된 삶 또는 진실된 삶이 나뉘게 되고, 통제되지 않는 분노 또는 통제된 분노, 그리고 도둑질하는 삶 또는 값진 노동으로 섬기는 삶을 살아가는 것이고, 주변 사람들을 죽이는 말 또는 살리는 말로 나뉘게 되는 것입니다. 여러분들의 마음은 무엇을 품고 계신가요?
30절에 그리스도를 품지 않고 이런 악을 품은 자들은 결국 사단에게 그들의 마음을 내어주는 자가 됩니다. 그러나 우리의 정체성은 구원의 날까지, 즉 마지막 날까지 인치심을 받은 것입니다. 하나님의 자녀가 됨이 확정된 것입니다.
이 뜻은 하나님의 자녀가 되었으니 마음껏 죄를 지어도 괜찮다라는 것이 절대 아닙니다. 오히려 더 큰 부담을 가지고 하나님의 자녀답게 살아가야 한다는 것입니다. 하나님이 이렇게까지 도장을 확실하게 찍어 주셨는데 어떻게 그분의 은혜를 남용할 수 있겠습니까?
이 시간 여기계신 모든 분들은 구원의 확실한 도장을 받아 주님의 은혜를 날마다 경험하시기를 소망합니다.
The things we've looked at today, things to discard and embrace, are just the tip of the iceberg. Depending on what each person embraces in their life, we either live a false life or a truthful one, experience uncontrolled anger or controlled anger, lead a life of theft or serve through valuable labor, and either kill or revive those around us with our words. What do you hold in your heart?
Verse 30 says that those who do not embrace Christ and harbor such evil will eventually give their hearts to Satan. However, our identity has been sealed until the day of redemption, confirming that we are God's children.
This doesn't mean that since we're children of God, it's okay to sin freely. On the contrary, it means that we have a greater responsibility to live as God's children. How can we abuse God's grace when He has stamped us so firmly?
I hope that everyone here today receives the assured stamp of salvation and experiences the Lord's grace daily.
31~32절에서 “다시 한번 버려야 할 악과 지켜야 할 선”을 강조합니다.
31절에 ‘모든 악독과 노함 분냄 떠드는 것과 비방하는 모든 것을 버려야 한다’ 말씀 하십니다. 이것은 우리 마음속에 더러운 마음을 버려야 함을 말하고 있습니다. 그리스도인은 세상처럼 마음을 비우기만 하는 것이 아니라 비워진 마음안에 그리스도로 넘치게 채워야 합니다. 그래야 그리스도인이 되는 것입니다.
32절은 채워야 할 것들을 강조합니다. 첫번째는 서로 친절하게하며, 두번째는 불쌍히 여기며, 세번째는 서로 용서하기를 하나님이 그리스도 안에서 너희를 용서하심과 같이해야 합니다. 결국 우리가 예수님의 복음을 묵상하면 나의 죄와, 죄인인 내가 받아들여짐과 그분의 은혜를 인지하게 됩니다. 그러할 때 그 열매로 친절과 긍휼함과 용서의 공동체가 그리스도안에서 든든히 세워지게 됩니다. 그것이 바로 복음이 살아있는 서로를 회복시키는 교회입니다.
오늘 본문은 공동체가 그리스도를 품을 때 기대되는 변화를 살펴 보았습니다. 그 변화는 서로를 세워주고 연결해주는 변화입니다. 나의 의를 품어서는 안되며, 나에 육체적인 욕심을 품어서도 안됩니다. 세상의 물질을 품어서도 안됩니다. 세상의 미디어에 빠져 살아도 안됩니다. 우리는 오직 세상에 단 한분 뿐이신 예수 그리스도와 복음을 가슴 깊이 품어야 합니다. 그러면 억지로가 아닌 복음의 열매가 자연스럽게 생명으로 드러나게 될 것입니다. 오늘 하루 복음을 품고, 예수 그리스도를 품고 사시는 저와 여러분이 되시기를 축복합니다.
Verses 31 and 32 emphasize "the evils to discard and the virtues to maintain." Verse 31 says, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander." This speaks of discarding the impurities in our hearts. Christians shouldn't just empty their hearts like the world does, but fill their emptied hearts with Christ to overflowing. That's how one becomes a Christian.
Verse 32 emphasizes what should be filled: Firstly, be kind to each other; secondly, be compassionate; and thirdly, forgive one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. When we contemplate the gospel of Jesus, we realize our sins and the grace He has given despite our sinful nature. As a result, a community formed by kindness, compassion, and forgiveness is firmly established in Christ. This is a church where the gospel is alive and brings healing to each other.
Today's text examined the changes expected in a community that embraces Christ. This change connects and uplifts each other. We shouldn't embrace our righteousness, our fleshly desires, the material things of the world, or get lost in the world's media. We must deeply embrace the one and only Jesus Christ and the gospel in this world. Then, the fruits of the gospel will naturally manifest as life. Today, I bless you and myself to live embracing the gospel and Jesus Christ.
