3:11 내 아들아 여호와의 징계를 경히 여기지 말라 그 꾸지람을 싫어하지 말라
11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
3:12 대저 여호와께서 그 사랑하시는 자를 징계하시기를 마치 아비가 그 기뻐하는 아들을 징계함 같이 하시느니라
12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.
3:13 지혜를 얻은 자와 명철을 얻은 자는 복이 있나니
13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,
3:14 이는 지혜를 얻는 것이 은을 얻는 것보다 낫고 그 이익이 정금보다 나음이니라
14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.
3:15 지혜는 진주보다 귀하니 네가 사모하는 모든 것으로도 이에 비교할 수 없도다
15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.
3:16 그의 오른손에는 장수가 있고 그의 왼손에는 부귀가 있나니
16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
3:17 그 길은 즐거운 길이요 그의 지름길은 다 평강이니라
17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.
3:18 지혜는 그 얻은 자에게 생명 나무라 지혜를 가진 자는 복되도다
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.
3:19 여호와께서는 지혜로 땅에 터를 놓으셨으며 명철로 하늘을 견고히 세우셨고
19 By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;
3:20 그의 지식으로 깊은 바다를 갈라지게 하셨으며 공중에서 이슬이 내리게 하셨느니라
20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.
3:21 내 아들아 완전한 지혜와 근신을 지키고 이것들이 네 눈 앞에서 떠나지 말게 하라
21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
preserve sound judgment and discretion;
3:22 그리하면 그것이 네 영혼의 생명이 되며 네 목에 장식이 되리니
22 they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
3:23 네가 네 길을 평안히 행하겠고 네 발이 거치지 아니하겠으며
23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble.
3:24 네가 누울 때에 두려워하지 아니하겠고 네가 누운즉 네 잠이 달리로다
24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
3:25 너는 갑작스러운 두려움도 악인에게 닥치는 멸망도 두려워하지 말라
25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
3:26 대저 여호와는 네가 의지할 이시니라 네 발을 지켜 걸리지 않게 하시리라
26 for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.
욥의 친구 엘리바스는 고난 중에 있는 욥을 찾아와서 욥의 한탄을 듣고는 볼지어다 하나님께 징계 받는 자에게는 복이 있나니 그런즉 너는 전능자의 징계를 업신여기지 말지니라 (욥 5:17)고 말했습니다.
고난을 당하고 있는 사람에게 이러한 말은 그 어떤 유익도 주지 않을 것입니다.
하지만 그 말만큼은 진리입니다. 하나님이 징계로서 허락하시는 고난은 매우 중요한 가치가 있습니다.
오늘 본문은 내 아들아 여호와의 징계를 경히 여기지 말라 그 꾸지람을 싫어하지 말라(11)고 시작합니다.
이에 대해서 델리취Delitzsch는 다음과 같이 말했습니다.
본 절은 지금까지 언급된 여호와 신앙=축복의 형통함 이란 순리적인 등식관계를 하나님의 부성적 사랑=하나님의 징계와 꾸지람 이란 역설적 등식으로 전환시켜 하나님의 섭리의 이면을 보여 주고 있다
순리적인 복만이 복이 아니라, 때로는 하나님의 징계가 축복이라는 역설적인 교훈입니다.
Job's friend Eliphaz, while comforting Job in his suffering, said, "Behold, blessed is the one whom God reproves; therefore, despise not the discipline of the Almighty" (Job 5:17). These words may not provide comfort to someone in the midst of hardship, but they contain profound truth. The trials permitted by God as discipline hold great value.
Today's passage begins with the admonition, "My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline or be weary of his reproof" (Proverbs 3:11). Regarding this, Delitzsch commented as follows:
"This verse transitions from the previously mentioned equation of faith in the Lord = blessing as a logical relationship to an ironic equation of God's abundant love = God's discipline and reproof. It reveals the hidden side of God's providence."
It emphasizes that not all blessings come in a straightforward manner; sometimes, God's discipline itself is a blessing.
여호와의 징계를 기뻐하라 (11~18절)
솔로몬은 지혜를 얻는 자와 명철을 얻는 자는 복이 있다(13) 말합니다.
그런데 우리가 지혜를 얻을 수 있는 방법이 하나님의 말씀에 대한 순종과 불순종에 따른 징계입니다.
그러므로 징계가 받는 그 순간에는 괴롭고 힘들지만, 오히려 지혜를 얻게 되기에 기뻐하고 감사할 수 있습니다.
징계를 기뻐할 수 있는 또 다른 이유는 그것이 하나님의 자녀임을 확증하는 것이기 때문입니다(12).
너는 사람이 그 아들을 징계함 같이 네 하나님 여호와께서 너를 징계하시는 줄 마음에 생각하고 (신 8:5)
솔로몬은 모세의 율법을 염두해두고 이러한 잠언을 쓰고 있습니다.
징계는 우리가 하나님의 사랑하는 자녀라는 증거이며, 우리에게 지혜를 주는 통로입니다.
그러므로 우리는 여호와 하나님의 징계를 기뻐해야 합니다.
Rejoice in the Lord's Discipline (Proverbs 3:11-18)
Solomon proclaims that those who obtain wisdom and understanding are blessed (Proverbs 3:13). The path to gaining wisdom is through obedience and submission to God's Word, which often involves discipline. Therefore, in the moment of discipline, we can rejoice and give thanks because it leads to wisdom. Another reason to rejoice in discipline is that it confirms our status as children of God (Proverbs 3:12).
"You shall know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you" (Deuteronomy 8:5).
Solomon has in mind the Law of Moses while making these proverbs. Discipline is evidence of God's love for us, and it is a pathway to gaining wisdom. Therefore, we should rejoice in the Lord's discipline.
한편 지혜를 얻음의 귀함에 대해서 저자는 그것이 은이나 정금, 그리고 진주를 얻는 것보다 귀하다고 말합니다. 지혜를 얻는 것은 세상 그 어떤 것을 얻는 것보다 가치 있는 것입니다(14).
우리가 그토록 갖고자 사모하는 것이 무엇입니까? 수많은 재산, 잘생기고 예쁜 배우자, 좋은 직장, 건강, 복된 자녀 등등 모든 것이 하나님의 축복이지만, 이런 것을 다 합쳐도 지혜 되시는 예수를 얻는 것과는 비교할 수 없는 것입니다(15). 예수를 얻으셨습니까? 그렇다면 우리는 참으로 복된 자입니다.
이제 솔로몬은 지혜를 얻은 자, 곧 예수를 가진 자가 가지게 되는 구체적인 복을 열거합니다.
먼저 지혜를 얻는 자는 지혜의 오른손에 있는 장수와 왼손에 있는 부귀를 얻게 됩니다(16).
또한 그가 걷는 길은 즐거운 길이 되고, 지름길이요 평강의 길이 될 것입니다(17).
그리고 지혜를 얻는 자는 생명나무를 얻은 것과 같습니다. 왜 아니겠습니까?
생명나무가 있는 에덴 동산에 범죄함으로 쫓겨난 인류는 이제 두번째 아담이자 지혜되시는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 다시 생명 나무를 얻게 된 것입니다. 그래서 지혜를 얻은 자는 복된 자입니다. 그리고 그 지혜를 얻게 하는 통로인 하나님의 징계를 기뻐할 수 있는 것입니다.
Delitzsch commented that wisdom is more precious than silver, gold, or pearls (Proverbs 3:14). Obtaining wisdom is more valuable than anything the world has to offer. Have you obtained Jesus, the embodiment of wisdom? If so, you are truly blessed.
Solomon goes on to describe the concrete blessings that those who obtain wisdom, specifically Jesus, will receive. Firstly, they will have long life and riches (Proverbs 3:16). Secondly, their paths will be pleasant, shortcuts to peace (Proverbs 3:17). Finally, they will possess the tree of life, just as humanity, driven out of Eden because of sin, has regained access to the tree of life through the second Adam, who is Jesus Christ. Therefore, those who obtain wisdom are truly blessed, and they can rejoice in the pathway of God's discipline.
여호와의 능력인 지혜 (19~26절)
솔로몬은 여호와께서 지혜로 땅에 터를, 명철로 하늘을 견고히 하시고, 지식으로 깊은 바다를 갈라지게 하셨으며, 공중에서 이슬이 내리게 하셨다고 노래합니다(19, 20). 그런데 모세는 다음과 같이 말합니다.
태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라 땅이 혼돈하고 공허하며 흑암이 깊음 위에 있고

태초에 천지를 창조하시는 그 현장에 삼위일체 하나님은 함께 사역하셨습니다.
성부 하나님은 말씀하시는 주체로, 성자 예수님은 말씀으로, 성령 하나님은 수면 위에 실제로 역사하시는 사역으로 함께 하신 것입니다. 결국 모세와 솔로몬의 하나님 창조 사역에 관한 기록들을 종합해보면 말씀이 곧 지혜이며, 지혜가 곧 성자 예수님 이라는 등식이 성립합니다.
그러므로 우리는 완전한 지혜와 근신을 지키고 그것들을 눈 앞에서 떠나지 않도록 집중해야 합니다(21).
우리는 자칫 방심하면 지혜이신 예수님과 그의 말씀을 잊고 세상에 휩쓸릴 수 있습니다.
The Power of the Lord, who is Wisdom (Proverbs 3:19-26)
Solomon praises the Lord for His wisdom, as it underlies the creation of the earth, the firmament, the deep sea, and the dew (Proverbs 3:19-20). However, Moses said:
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light" (Genesis 1:1-3).
At the creation of the heavens and the earth, the triune God worked together. The Father spoke, the Son is the Word, and the Holy Spirit actively moved over the waters. Combining the accounts of Moses and Solomon, the Word of God is synonymous with wisdom, and wisdom is synonymous with Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we must diligently guard wisdom and understanding, ensuring they do not depart from us (Proverbs 3:21). We can easily be distracted and swept away by the world if we do not focus on wisdom, which is Jesus.
솔로몬은 우리가 집중하여 지혜를 지킬 때 얻게 되는 유익들을 다시 한번 열거합니다.
먼저는 지혜가 우리 영혼의 생명이 되며, 목에 장식이 될 것입니다(22).
이것은 마음에 활력이 있는 의욕적인 상태와 그에 따르는 외적인 아름다움을 의미합니다.
다음은 우리의 길이 평안하고, 아무런 장애물도 없게 될 것입니다(23).
또한 근심 걱정이 없어, 잠을 잘 때 두려움 없이 꿀잠을 잘 수 있습니다(24).
불면증만큼 괴로운 일도 없습니다. 혹시 불면증에 시달리는 분이 있다면 오늘 이 시간 지혜이신 예수로 충만하여 불면증이 사라지고, 단잠을 자는 은혜가 넘치기를 축복합니다.
지혜를 소유한 자는 갑작스러운 두려움이나 악인에게 닥치는 멸망을 두려워할 필요가 없습니다(25).
갑자기 닥친 두려움, 곧 여호와의 징계는 우리를 지혜롭게 하는 하나님의 사랑의 훈련이기 때문입니다.
힘들어도 조금만 참으신다면, 그 징계는 분명히 놀라운 축복으로 변할 것입니다.
또한 악인에게 닥친 멸망은 하나님의 심판입니다.
하나님의 자녀와는 상관이 없는 일이니 두려워할 필요가 없습니다.
결론적으로 여호와가 우리의 의지가 되십니다. 우리가 무엇을 두려워하겠습니까?
여호와 하나님, 그의 지혜가 우리의 발을 지켜 어떤 장애물도 걸려 넘어 지지 않도록 하실 것입니다.
Solomon then enumerates the benefits of guarding wisdom. Firstly, wisdom becomes life for our souls and an adornment for our necks (Proverbs 3:22). This represents spiritual vitality and external beauty that comes with it. Secondly, our ways will be peaceful, and we will not stumble (Proverbs 3:23). Thirdly, we will be free from anxiety, sleep in tranquility, and enjoy sweet rest (Proverbs 3:24). Insomnia will not torment us. If anyone is suffering from insomnia, may they be filled with the wisdom of Jesus today, and may their insomnia disappear, replaced with restful sleep, as a blessing.
The one who possesses wisdom has no reason to fear sudden terror or the ruin of the wicked (Proverbs 3:25). Sudden terror, which is the Lord's discipline, becomes a means by which God trains us in His love. Though it may be difficult, with patience, it will surely transform into a remarkable blessing. The ruin of the wicked is God's judgment and does not concern the children of God. In conclusion, the Lord will be our confidence, and our feet will be kept from being caught
