13:1 형제 사랑하기를 계속하고
1 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
13:2 손님 대접하기를 잊지 말라 이로써 부지중에 천사들을 대접한 이들이 있었느니라
2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
13:3 너희도 함께 갇힌 것 같이 갇힌 자를 생각하고 너희도 몸을 가졌은즉 학대 받는 자를 생각하라
3 Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
13:4 모든 사람은 결혼을 귀히 여기고 침소를 더럽히지 않게 하라 음행하는 자들과 간음하는 자들을 하나님이 심판하시리라
4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
13:5 돈을 사랑하지 말고 있는 바를 족한 줄로 알라 그가 친히 말씀하시기를 내가 과연 너희를 버리지 아니하고 너희를 떠나지 아니하리라 하셨느니라
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”
13:6 그러므로 우리가 담대히 말하되 주는 나를 돕는 이시니 내가 무서워하지 아니하겠노라 사람이 내게 어찌하리요 하노라
6 So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
13:7 하나님의 말씀을 너희에게 일러주고 너희를 인도하던 자들을 생각하며 그들의 행실의 결말을 주의하여 보고 그들의 믿음을 본받으라
7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
13:8 예수 그리스도는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하시니라
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
제자 훈련이란 무엇일까요? 다양한 교회, 단체 및 목사들이 제자 훈련을 주도하며 이와 유사한 정의를 갖고 있습니다.
What is discipleship training? There are many churches, organizations, and pastors who lead discipleship training and many of them have similar definitions of discipleship training.
한 단체는 제자 훈련에 대해 다음과 같이 말합니다.
제자는 예수 그리스도를 주와 구주로 믿고, 그로부터 의도적으로 배우며, 그와 같이 살려고 노력하는 사람입니다. 제자 훈련은 영적 성장의 여정을 묘사하는 데 널리 사용되는 용어입니다. 이 성장은 다른 사람 옆에 서서 그들에게 증거하고, 함께 기도하며, 성경을 공부하며, 교제하는 과정으로 진행됩니다.
One organization wrote this about discipleship training.
A disciple is someone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, intentionally learns from Him, and strives to live more like Him. Discipleship is a widely-used word to describe a journey of spiritual growth. This growth happens as a person comes alongside another to witness to them, pray with them, study the Bible with them, and fellowship with them.
다음 교회는 제자 훈련에 대해 이렇게 기록했습니다.
최상의 의미에서 제자 훈련은 믿는 자들이 그리스도처럼 되고 그와 같이 살도록 돕는 과정을 나타냅니다. 제자 훈련의 목적은 "그리스도의 충만함의 모든 정도에 이르려 함"입니다. (에베소서 4:13). 다시 말해, 제자 훈련의 목적은 성숙함입니다.
Another Church wrote this about discipleship training.
Discipleship training in its broadest sense refers to the process of helping believers to become and live like Christ. The purpose of discipleship training is to “Attain to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13). In other words, the purpose of discipleship training is maturity.
한 목사님은 제자 훈련에 대해 다음과 같이 말하셨습니다.
제자 훈련은 성경 원리를 가르치면서 다른 이들을 예수 그리스도의 추종자로서 의로운 삶을 살도록 모델링하고 인도하는 것입니다. 제자로서 중요한 특징 중 하나는 그냥 예수 그리스도에 대해 배우는 것이 아니라 예수 그리스도를 통해 하나님과의 깊은 관계를 발전시키는 것입니다.
One pastor wrote this about discipleship training.
Discipleship is teaching biblical precepts, while modeling and guiding others toward living righteously as followers of Jesus Christ. One of the most important characteristics of being a disciple is to develop an intimate relationship with God through Christ rather than just learning about Him.
이 세 정의 사이에 공통된 주제가 있습니다. 그것은 예수 그리스도와 성숙함 입니다. 제자 훈련은 단지 16주나 1년 프로그램이 아닙니다. 예수 그리스도에서 계속해서 성숙해가는 과정입니다. 제자 훈련을 마친다고 해서 우리가 제자 훈련에서 벗어난 것이 아닙니다. 그렇다면 언제 제자 훈련을 마칠 수 있을까요? 이 세상을 떠나는 그 시점에 우리의 제자훈련은 끝나는 것 입니다.
There is one common theme between these three definitions. It is Jesus Christ and maturity. Discipleship training is not just about some 16 week course or 1 year course. It is about continuing to mature in Jesus Christ. Through discipleship training, we train ourselves to read the bible, pray, and live as true Christians. Just because we might graduate from some discipleship training class, does not mean that we are done with discipleship. So when are we truly done with discipleship training? When our lives in this world is done.
기독교적 삶 (1-5)
오늘의 성경 구절 히브리서 13장은 기독교인으로서 어떻게 살아가고 예수 그리스도 안에서 어떻게 성숙해지는지에 대한 내용입니다. 이 세상에서 어떻게 기독교인으로서 살아가야 할까요? 사랑으로 시작합니다 (1). 다양한 종류의 사랑이 있습니다: 에로스, 스토르게, 아가페, 필라델피아(필레오). 여기서 언급된 사랑은 형제 사랑과 우정을 나타내는 필레오 사랑입니다. 2절에서는 이 사랑을 이웃과 심지어 모르는 이에게까지 확장하라고 합니다. 우리가 좋아하는 사람들을 사랑하는 것은 쉽지만, 우리가 잘 모르고 좋아하지 않는 사람을 사랑하기는 어렵습니다. 교회에서 만난 사람들에게도 마찬가지입니다. 그러나 이 절은 우리에게 모르는 이에게 “손님 대접”도 하라고 가르칩니다. 그 당시 호텔에 없었으므로 여행 중인 기독교인들이 밤에 다른 기독교인들의 집에서 지내야 했습니다. 그래서 이렇게 모르는 사람들에게도 선을 배풀으라는 것이었습니다.
The Christian Life (1-5)
Today’s scripture in Hebrews is about living as Christians and maturing in Jesus Christ. How should we live as Christians in this world? It starts with love (1) There are many different types of love: eros, storge, agape, and Philadelphia. This love is referring to the Philadelphia love which is brotherly love and friendship. In Verse 2, it is also extending this love to strangers as well. It is easy for us to love others who we like. However, it is hard to love someone we do not know and like very well. Same goes for people who we meet in the church. But this verse is telling us to be hospitable to strangers. He mentioned being hospitable because back then there were no inns. So, it was important for traveling Christians to find open homes from other Christians to stay the night.
3절에서는 바울은 갇힌 자를 생각하고 너희도 몸을 가졌은즉 학대 받는 자를 생각하라. "학대 받은"이라는 말은 그리스어 "kakoucheō"에서 나온 것이며 이것은 경건한 신앙을 가진 사람들이 박해와 순교를 당하는 예시에 적용됩니다. 이것은 히브리서의 주요 주제 중 하나인 "고통을 견디며 굳게 붙잡아야 한다"는 것과 잘 어울립니다. 그 동안 고난을 견디며 복음을 위해 고난을 받고 죽은 다른 이들을 염두에 두면서 진행되어야 한다는 것을 뜻합니다.
In Verse 3, Paul writes to remember those who are in prison and those who were mistreated as you yourselves were suffering. The Word mistreated is from the Greek word “kakoucheō”
This word appears twice in the New Testament and applies to examples of those with godly faith suffering persecution and martyrdom. This meshes well with a major theme of the book of Hebrews: that believers ought to "hold fast" through suffering, while keeping in mind others who suffered and died for the sake of Gospel.
그리고 4절에서 바울은 결혼에 대해 언급합니다. 이것은 거룩과 순결의 중요성에 관한 것입니다. 오늘날 세상에서는 성적 죄가 종종 경시되거나 중요하지 않은 것처럼 다루어집니다. 결혼 외의 관계에서 성관계를 가진 사람들이 흔한 일입니다. 어떤 사람들은 심지어 여러 가족을 갖고 있습니다. 그러나 바울은 이 4절을 통해 거룩과 순결에 대해 우리에게 상기시키기 위해 이를 언급합니다.
And in verse 4, Paul mentions marriage. This is about the critical importance of sexual purity. In today’s world, sexual sins are often brushed aside as minor, or irrelevant. It has been very common to have sex outside of marriage. Some people even have multiple families. But Paul is mentioning this to remind us about holiness and purity.
마지막으로 5절에서 바울은 돈에 대해 언급합니다: "돈을 사랑하지 말라". 물론 돈은 우리에게 절대적으로 필요하지만 바울은 욕심에 대해 이야기하고 있습니다. 욕심은 끝이 없습니다. 어떤 사람이 부자 버나드 바룩에게 "부자가 만족하려면 얼마의 돈이 필요한가요?"라고 물었을 때, 바룩은 "그가 가진 것보다 백만불 더"라고 대답했습니다. 그가 정말 이렇게 말했는지는 모르겠지만, 이것은 돈이 얼마나 많이 있더라도 만족하지 못하는 사람들이 있다는 것을 의미합니다.
And lastly in verse 5, Paul writes about money: “Keep your lives free from the love of money”. Of course, money is an absolute necessity for us but Paul is talking about greed. Greed has no end. Someone asked millionaire Bernard Baruch, “How much money does it take a rich man to be satisfied?” Baruch said, “Just a million more than he has.” I don’t know if he really said this but this is referring to people never really being satisfied no matter how much they have.
바울은 빌립보서 4:11-13에서 이렇게 기록했습니다.
내가 궁핍하므로 말하는 것이 아니니라 어떠한 형편에든지 나는 자족하기를 배웠노니
나는 비천에 처할 줄도 알고 풍부에 처할 줄도 알아 모든 일 곧 배부름과 배고픔과 풍부와 궁핍에도 처할 줄 아는 일체의 비결을 배웠노라 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라
우리가 많이 가지거나 적게 가지더라도, 바울은 그리스도인으로서 우리는 우리의 힘의 Source로서 예수를 의지해야 한다고 말합니다. 왜냐하면 하나님이 우리를 떠나지 않으시고 버리지 않으실 것이기 때문입니다.
Paul wrote this in Philippians 4:11-13:
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Whether we have a lot or little, Paul is telling us as Christians that we should rely on Jesus as the source for our strength. Because God will never leave us or forsake us.
예수 그리스도는 어제도 오늘도 영원히 변함없다 (6-8)
가끔 우리는 성경을 읽을 때 일부 내용이 우리에게 적용되지 않는 것 같을 수 있습니다. 그러나 예수는 여전히 변하지 않고 변하지 않았음을 기억해야 합니다. (신학적 용어로 이것은 immutability이라고 합니다.)

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (6-8)
Sometimes we read the bible, we might think that some of the things do not apply to us. However, we need to remember that Jesus is still the same and has not changed. (In theological term, this is called immutability.)
Today’s scriptures is a guideline on how to be a disciple. We need to love another. We need to hold fast through suffering. We need to stay holy and pure. We need to keep our lives free from the love of money. How? Through Jesus Christ. Through imitating Jesus Christ. We cannot do this any other way. Because the world is teaching us to be opposites. The world is trying to teach us to always be competitive with one another, to never be satisfied with what you have, and that no amount of money will never be enough. Just like Jesus, we need to go against the grain. We need to go against the world.

기독교인으로서 우리도 마찬가지 입니다. 우리는 세상을 반대해야 합니다. 장애물과 포식자들이 있을 수 있지만 예수 그리스도가 이미 전쟁에서 승리하셨기 때문에 우리는 승리할 것입니다. 예수가 죽고 부활함으로써 이미 승리자가 되었기 때문입니다. 그러므로 이 새벽에 우리는 예수를 따를것이라고 선포합시다, 예수 그리스도의 제자가 될거라고 선포합시다. 예수를 따르는 사람으로서 세상에 'NO '라고 말하고 온전히 예수 그리스도만 믿고 따르는 제자가 됩시다.
Salmon are very interesting creatures. While a lake goes down stream, when salmon migrate, they swim upstream. Their goal is to lay eggs where they were born. So once they get strong enough, they start migrating up to several thousand kilometers. Not only are they going against the currents, they are also having to jump and go through predators like bears. And a lot of bears would be waiting around the time they migrate. They say that salmon don’t even eat during this time. They are fully focused on getting to their destination.
As Christians, we need to go against the world. Although there will be obstacles and predators, we will be victorious because Jesus Christ has already won the war. When Jesus died and rose from the dead, we already became victorious. So this morning, let us remember to be like Jesus, to be a disciple of Jesus. As followers of Jesus, let us say no to the world and say yes to following Jesus Christ.
