19 Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews.
11:20 그 중에 구브로와 구레네 몇 사람이 안디옥에 이르러 헬라인에게도 말하여 주 예수를 전파하니
20 Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus.
11:21 주의 손이 그들과 함께 하시매 수 많은 사람들이 믿고 주께 돌아오더라
21 The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
11:22 예루살렘 교회가 이 사람들의 소문을 듣고 바나바를 안디옥까지 보내니
22 News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.
11:23 그가 이르러 하나님의 은혜를 보고 기뻐하여 모든 사람에게 굳건한 믿음으로 주와 함께 머물러 있으라 권하니
23 When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
11:24 바나바는 착한 사람이요 성령과 믿음이 충만한 사람이라 이에 큰 무리가 주께 더하여지더라
24 He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
11:25 바나바가 사울을 찾으러 다소에 가서
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,
11:26 만나매 안디옥에 데리고 와서 둘이 교회에 일 년간 모여 있어 큰 무리를 가르쳤고 제자들이 안디옥에서 비로소 그리스도인이라 일컬음을 받게 되었더라
26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
11:27 그 때에 선지자들이 예루살렘에서 안디옥에 이르니
27 During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.
11:28 그 중에 아가보라 하는 한 사람이 일어나 성령으로 말하되 천하에 큰 흉년이 들리라 하더니 글라우디오 때에 그렇게 되니라
28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.)
11:29 제자들이 각각 그 힘대로 유대에 사는 형제들에게 부조를 보내기로 작정하고
29 The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.
11:30 이를 실행하여 바나바와 사울의 손으로 장로들에게 보내니라
30 This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

오늘 본문은 새들백 교회보다 훨씬 먼저 건강하게 성장한 교회 이야기를 나누고 있습니다.
바로 안디옥 교회입니다. 안디옥 교회는 이방인의 첫 교회요, 그리스도인이라는 명칭이 시작된 곳입니다.
또한 선교사를 처음으로 파송한 교회이기도 합니다.
그렇다면 안디옥 교회가 이렇게 성장할 수 있었던 비결은 무엇일까요?
The Saddleback Community Church located in Lake Forest, California, is a church founded by Pastor Rick Warren, who became the senior pastor after migrating from Texas in 1979. The church began with a realtor family who was helping Pastor Rick Warren's family with their home search, and as the 7 of them started studying the Bible together, the church congregation grew. In 15 years, it grew to a church with over 10,000 attendees and now has become a mega-church with over 20,000 people attending worship services each week. Pastor Rick Warren is even more delighted to know that more than 50,000 people have been baptized, surpassing the number of regular attendees. The story of the establishment and growth of Saddleback Church is extensively recorded in the book "The Purpose Driven Church."
The secret to the growth of Saddleback Church lies in the pastor's healthy philosophy of ministry and firm vision. Pastor Rick Warren's book "The Purpose Driven Life" introduces five purposes that guide a purpose-driven life: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and mission, which have become widely famous. By reading his books, one can understand how devoted he is to the essence extracted from the Bible.
Churches, being living organisms, naturally grow when things are done properly, and this is known as the natural growth principle. Therefore, we must learn how to do things properly.
Today's passage shares the story of a church that experienced healthy growth long before Saddleback Church—the church of Antioch. The Antioch Church was the first church established among the Gentiles and where the term "Christian" was first used. It was also the church that sent out the first missionaries.
So, what was the secret behind the remarkable growth of the Antioch Church?
전도 (19, 20, 21, 24절)
안디옥 교회가 성장할 수 있었던 첫번째 이유는 전도입니다.
사울의 핍박을 피해 흩어진 기독교인들이 베니게와 구브로와 안디옥까지 이르러 전도를 시작했습니다. 먼저는 유대인에게 그리고 다음은 헬라인에게 전도하기 시작했습니다(19, 20).
내가 복음을 부끄러워하지 아니하노니 이 복음은 모든 믿는 자에게 구원을 주시는
하나님의 능력이 됨이라 먼저는 유대인에게요 그리고 헬라인에게로다 (롬 1:16)
전도의 대상은 제한이 없습니다. 사람들은 얼마전 베드로의 예루살렘 전도보고로 인해 고넬료와 같은 이방인에게도 하나님의 성령이 임하신다는 사실을 알게 되었습니다. 누구든지 복음을 들어야 합니다.
그러므로 우리는 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 하나님의 복음을 전하고자 하는 열망이 필요합니다.
Evangelism (verses 19, 20, 21, 24)
The first reason why the Antioch Church was able to grow is evangelism.
The Christians, scattered to places like Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, started preaching after escaping Saul's persecution. They first preached to the Jews, and then to the Greeks (verse 19, 20).
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile (Romans 1:16)
The target of evangelism is not limited. People, inspired by Peter's preaching in Jerusalem, came to know that even the Gentiles like Cornelius could receive the Holy Spirit from God. Everyone needs to hear the gospel.
Therefore, we need the desire to preach God's gospel, whether the time is right or not.
하나님이 함께 하심 (21, 23절) : 예배, 은혜
두번째로 안디옥 교회가 성장할 수 있었던 이유는 하나님이 함께 하시는 은혜가 있었기 때문입니다.
전도의 결과는 수많은 사람이 예수를 믿고 주께 돌아온 것입니다(21).
이 소식은 예루살렘의 지도자들에게 까지 들어갔고, 그들은 바나바를 담임목회자로 파송합니다(22).
그는 안디옥 교회에 주의 손이 그들과 함께 하시고, 하나님의 은혜가 있음을 보았습니다.
그래서 바나나는 그 은혜 가운데 굳건히 머물 것을 권면했습니다(23).
바나바는 예배(모임) 가운데 하나님의 은혜가 있음을 목격했던 것입니다.
교회는 뭐니뭐니해도 하나님 은혜를 빼고는 말할 수 없는 곳입니다.
하나님의 은혜가 없는 곳은 교회가 아닙니다.
그리고 하나님의 은혜는 예배를 통하여 우리에게 주어지고 나타납니다.
하나님의 은혜가 우리에게 주어지는 방법, 곧 은혜의 방편은 예배, 말씀, 기도(찬송), 성례전(세례, 성찬)입니다.
God is With Us (Verse 21, 23) : Worship, Grace
The second reason why the Antioch Church was able to grow is that they experienced the presence of God through His grace in worship.
The result of their evangelism was that many people believed in Jesus and turned to the Lord (verse 21). This news reached the leaders in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas as their representative (verse 22). He witnessed the hand of the Lord upon the people in the Antioch Church and saw God's grace among them.
Therefore, Barnabas encouraged them to remain firm in that grace (verse 23). He had witnessed God's grace manifesting in the context of worship and gatherings. The church is undeniably a place where God's grace is essential. Without God's grace, it would not be a church.
God's grace is received and revealed to us through worship, the Word, prayer (praise), and sacraments (baptism, communion). These are the means through which God's grace is bestowed upon us.
성령 충만한 지도자 (24-26절) : 교육, 훈련
세번째로 안디옥 교회가 성장할 수 있었던 이유는 성령충만한 지도자가 있었기 때문입니다.
이것은 바나바로 인한 안디옥 교회에 교육과 훈련이 있었음을 의미합니다.
바나바가 안디옥 교회에 오자 안디옥 교회에 더욱 많은 무리가 주께 돌아왔습니다.
지도자의 중요함은 이루 말할 수가 없습니다. 교역자 중심의 교회는 옳지 않습니다.
그런데 모순처럼 보이지만 좋은 교역자가 훌륭한 평신도를 양성합니다.
그렇다면 좋은 교역자는 어떤 교역자입니까?
좋은 교역자는 성령충만, 믿음충만, 예수충만, 기쁨충만한 사람이어야 합니다(24).
좋은 교역자는 착한 사람이어야 합니다. 목회는 인격으로 하는 것입니다(24).
좋은 교역자는 동역하는 사람이어야 합니다. 절대로 목회는 혼자 할 수 있는 것이 아닙니다(25, 26).
Spirit-filled Leader (Verses 24-26) : Education, Training
The third reason why the Antioch Church was able to grow is because they had Spirit-filled leaders who provided education and training.
This is evident through the example of Barnabas, who brought education and training to the Antioch Church. When Barnabas arrived, even more people turned to the Lord in the Antioch Church.
The importance of leaders cannot be overstated. A church centered solely around clergy is not right. However, paradoxically, good clergy nurture excellent laypeople.
So, what makes a good leader in ministry?
A good leader should be filled with the Spirit, faith, Jesus, and joy (v24).
A good leader should be a good person. Ministry is conducted through character (v24).
A good leader should be a coworker. Ministry should never be done alone (v25, 26).
구제 (27-30절)
마지막으로 안디옥 교회에는 구제가 있었습니다.
아가보라는 선지자(행 21:11, 바울의 미래를 예언)가 큰 흉년을 예언했습니다(28).
그러자 대비책을 마련하는 것이 아니라, 오히려 자신들보다 못한 상황에 있는 유대에 사는 형제를 구제하는 일에 마음을 모았습니다.
교회의 중요한 역할 중 하나는 바로 구제입니다.
구제는 교회 내적인 구제와 교회 외부적인 활동으로 구분할 수 있습니다. 내부적으로는 형제의 어려움을 돌보는 귀한 사역이고, 외적인 구제는 세상과 소통하는 통로가 될 수 있습니다.
이 사람들의 소문을 듣고(22) 안디옥 교회는 소문난 교회가 되었습니다.
그것은 한마디로 주의 손이 그들과 함께 하심으로 수많은 사람들이 믿고 주께 돌아온다는 소문입니다.
하나님의 나라는 어떤 뛰어난 몇 사람으로만 만들어지는 것이 아닙니다.
그 사람들은 유명한 이름난 사람들도 아닙니다. 그저 무명의 전도자일 뿐입니다.
무명의 전도자, 예배자, 봉사자를 우리는 그리스도인, 곧 왕의 사람들이라고 부릅니다.
그리고 하나님의 나라는 그들을 통하여 완성되어집니다. 바로 당신입니다.
Relief (verses 27-30)
Lastly, the Antioch Church had a practice of providing relief and support to those in need.
The prophet Agabus (Acts 21:11) prophesied a severe famine (28). In response to this, the Antioch Church focused not on preparing for their own well-being but on helping their fellow brothers and sisters in Judea, who were in even worse conditions. Providing relief is an essential role of the church.
Relief work can be categorized into both internal and external activities. Internally, it involves caring for the needs of fellow believers, and externally, it can serve as a means of connecting with the world.
As news of their actions spread (verse 22), the Antioch Church became renowned. This reputation highlights that the hand of the Lord was with them, resulting in many people coming to faith and turning to the Lord.
The Kingdom of God is not built solely on a few exceptional individuals, nor are they necessarily famous. They are simply unknown preachers, worshipers, and servants. We, as Christians, are known as the people of the King. Through these seemingly insignificant preachers, worshipers, and servants, God's Kingdom is completed – and that includes you.
