19:9 이스라엘 모든 지파 백성들이 변론하여 이르되 왕이 우리를 원수의 손에서 구원하여 내셨고 또 우리를 블레셋 사람들의 손에서 구원하셨으나 이제 압살롬을 피하여 그 땅에서 나가셨고
9 Throughout the tribes of Israel, all the people were arguing among themselves, saying, “The king delivered us from the hand of our enemies; he is the one who rescued us from the hand of the Philistines. But now he has fled the country to escape from Absalom;
19:10 우리가 기름을 부어 우리를 다스리게 한 압살롬은 싸움에서 죽었거늘 이제 너희가 어찌하여 왕을 도로 모셔 올 일에 잠잠하고 있느냐 하니라
10 and Absalom, whom we anointed to rule over us, has died in battle. So why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?”
19:11 다윗 왕이 사독과 아비아달 두 제사장에게 소식을 전하여 이르되 너희는 유다 장로들에게 말하여 이르기를 왕의 말씀이 온 이스라엘이 왕을 왕궁으로 도로 모셔오자 하는 말이 왕께 들렸거늘 너희는 어찌하여 왕을 궁으로 모시는 일에 나중이 되느냐
11 King David sent this message to Zadok and Abiathar, the priests: “Ask the elders of Judah, ‘Why should you be the last to bring the king back to his palace, since what is being said throughout Israel has reached the king at his quarters?
19:12 너희는 내 형제요 내 골육이거늘 너희는 어찌하여 왕을 도로 모셔 오는 일에 나중이 되리요 하셨다 하고
12 You are my relatives, my own flesh and blood. So why should you be the last to bring back the king?’
19:13 너희는 또 아마사에게 이르기를 너는 내 골육이 아니냐 네가 요압을 이어서 항상 내 앞에서 지휘관이 되지 아니하면 하나님이 내게 벌 위에 벌을 내리시기를 바라노라 하셨다 하라 하여
13 And say to Amasa, ‘Are you not my own flesh and blood? May God deal with me, be it ever so severely, if you are not the commander of my army for life in place of Joab.’”
19:14 모든 유다 사람들의 마음을 하나 같이 기울게 하매 그들이 왕께 전갈을 보내어 이르되 당신께서는 모든 부하들과 더불어 돌아오소서 한지라
14 He won over the hearts of the men of Judah so that they were all of one mind. They sent word to the king, “Return, you and all your men.”
19:15 왕이 돌아와 요단에 이르매 유다 족속이 왕을 맞아 요단을 건너가게 하려고 길갈로 오니라
15 Then the king returned and went as far as the Jordan.
Now the men of Judah had come to Gilgal to go out and meet the king and bring him across the Jordan.
압살롬은 이제 죽었습니다. 그는 아버지인 다윗 왕에게 반역했지만, 다윗은 여전히 압살롬의 죽음으로 인해 울며 슬퍼했습니다. 이스라엘의 지파들은 다윗을 왕으로 다시 불러올지에 대해 논쟁 중입니다. 그리고 이 논쟁은 당연했습니다. 다윗은 그들에게 한 때 좋은 왕이었습니다. 하지만 그들은 다윗을 버리고 압살롬을 택했습니다. 그러자 다윗은 도망가야 했습니다. 그래서 그들은 다윗을 다시 불러올지에 대해 논쟁 중이었습니다. 압살롬은 죽었지만, 아마도 여전히 압살롬의 지지자들이 있을 것이라 생각됩니다.
Absalom is now dead. Although he rebelled against his father, King David, David still wept and mourned because of Absalom’s death. And now the tribes of Israel are arguing whether to bring David back as king. And it is natural that they were arguing whether to bring back David as the king. David was once the king who did great things. However, they rejected him and embraced Absalom. And David had to flee the city. So, they were arguing whether to bring back David. Because although Absalom was dead, there were probably still supporters of Absalom. They didn’t know how David would treat them if he did come back as the king.
11절에 다윗은 매신저를 사독과 아비아달에게 보냈습니다. 대제사장 사독과 아비아달은 예루살렘에 남아 다윗 왕의 이익을 지키기 위해 머물렀던 사람들이었습니다. 이 매신저는 왜 왕으로 다시 복귀 하는게 오래 걸리는지에 대한 내용입니다. 그런데 다윗은 자신의 왕권을 내놔! 하지 않고 모든 지파가 한 마음을 다윗을 왕으로 다시 불러올 때에만 돌아갈 것이라고 말했습니다.
In verse 11, King David sends a messenger to Zadok and Abiathar. The high priests Zadok and Abiathar were the ones who stayed behind in the city of Jerusalem to watch over David’s interests. And the messenger basically said to speak to the elders of Judah and ask them why it’s taking so long to reinstate him as the king. David didn’t want to just demand his position as king. He would only come back when all the tribes agree to bring him back as the king.
또한 다윗은 오랜 기간동안 섬겼던 요압 지휘관을 아마사로 대체할 것이라고 말했습니다. 요압은 이전에 사무엘하에서 아브넬을 죽인 사람이기도 하고, 압살롬에게 세 차례 화살을 쏜 사람이기도 합니다. 이 상황과 압살롬의 지지자들을 달래기 위해 다윗은 자신의 조카인 아마사를 새울 것이라고 말했습니다.
14절에서 다윗은 모든 유다 사람들의 마음을 움직였다는 것을 보입니다. 그리고 다윗은 왕의 자리로 다시 올라갔습니다. 회복한것입니다.
And David also said that he would replace his long-time commander Army Joab with Amasa. Joab was the one who killed Abner earlier in 2 Samuel and he was also the one who fired three darts at Absalom killing him. To try to appease this situation and the supporters of Absalom, he said he would promote Amasa, David’s nephew.
And we see in verse 14 that David succeeded in swaying the hearts of all the men of Judah. And finally, David is restored to his throne.
우리는 삶 속에서도 역경을 마주할 때가 있습니다. 다윗은 선지자 사무엘에게 기름을 부은 후에도 많은 역경을 겪었습니다. 우리가 계획한 대로 되지 않을 수도 있습니다. 그러나 하나님은 항상 우리를 회복시켜 주십니다. 다윗이 회복된 것처럼 우리도 하나님이 회복시켜 주십니다.
As we go through life, we also face setbacks in our life. David faced many setbacks after being anointed by prophet Samuel. Things may not always go as we planned. However, God will always restore us like we saw God restore David.
(이 이야기가 약간 부끄러울 수 있지만, 그래도 얘기하겠습니다.) 결혼 후에 저의 인생 목표는 가족을 위해 많은 돈을 버는 것이었습니다. 교회를 오랫동안 다니고 선교단체에서도 활동했었지만, 여전히 가족을 위해 충분한 돈을 벌기에 집중하고 있었습니다. 태어날 때부터 교회를 다녔었는데, 점점 교회 가는 숫자가 줄어들기 시작했습니다. 왜냐하면 이때 1주일에 50-60시간 일하고 있었기 때문입니다. 근데 제가 이렇게 세상에서 바쁠 때 한사랑교회를 만난 것입니다. 약 6개월 동안 저는 버라이전에서 Manager로 일하면서 한사랑교회에서 Youth 사역을 했습니다. 어느 날 저에게 Regional Manager에게서 전화가 왔습니다.
(This might be an embarrassing story. But I’ll say it anyways.) After I got married, my sole focus in life was to make a lot of money to provide for my family. Although I was going to church, and involved in missions, I was still focused on earning enough money to provide for my family. Although I have attended church all my life, I started to not go to church as much. I was working between 50-60 hours a week. Amid this worldly life, this is when I met Hansarang Church. For about 6 months, I worked at Verizon as a store manager and at Hansarang Church as the youth pastor. During the last month at Verizon, I received a phone call from my Regional Manager.
여기서 조금 자랑을 하겠습니다. 저는 PNW에서 매출 상위 10위 안에 들고 있었고 제가 관리하는 가게는 항상 TOP 20였습니다. 이 Regional Manager는 저에게 전화를 걸어 매출 숫자가 왜 줄어들고, 주중에 일찍 퇴근하고 일요일에 일하지 않게 된 이유를 물었습니다. 이 전화를 받을 때 저는 화가 머리까지 찼습니다. 전화 통화를 끝내고 제 직원들이 어떻게 된 건지 물었습니다. 얼굴이 완전히 빨겠습니다. 그래서 이 전화를 받은 후에 집으로 돌아갔습니다. 스스로 생각했습니다, "인생의 의미가 어디에 있을까. 난 무엇을 위해서 살고 있지.." 그리고 기도했습니다. 그리고 나는 즉시 상사에게 전화를 걸어 일을 그만두겠다고 말했습니다. 그리고 저는 사역에 전적으로 헌신하기로 결심했습니다. 저는 사역을 시작하고 많은 힘든 일들을 겪었습니다. 솔직히 말해서, 저는 18세 때 사역으로 부르심을 받았습니다. 제가 하나님께 계속 싫다고 했거든요. 근데 지금 20년후에 저는 이제 대학원은 일 년 정도 남았고 풀타임으로 지금은 청년, 유쓰, EM 사역을 하고 있습니다. 하나님은 20년을 걸쳐서 저의 믿음과 비전을 회복해 주셨습니다.
I’m going to brag a little bit here, but I was ranked in the top 10 for sales in the PNW and the store that I was managing was always doing very good. He called me and said why the sales numbers have been going down, why I’ve been leaving early during the weeks, and why I’m no longer working on Sundays. When I received this call, I was flabbergasted. And when I got off the phone, my employees were asking me if I was OK because my face was completely red. So, after this phone call, I went home. I thought to myself, “is this the meaning of life.” And I prayed. And then I called my immediate boss and told him that I was going to quit.” And I decided to go all in on ministry. I faced many setbacks in my life ever since I was called to ministry. Honestly, I was called into ministry when I was 18. But 20 years later, I have about a year of school left and working full-time as a pastor. God has restored me in my faith and my vision. It took 20 years.
다윗도 많은 좋은 일과 좋지 않은 일을 겪었지만 결국은 왕의 자리로 다시 회복됬습니다.
지금 혹시 불확실한 시기에 계시나요? 길목에서 막혀 어디로 갈지 모르시나요? 하나님은 여기 계십니다. 하나님은 당신의 마음을 듣고 계십니다. 하나님은 당신의 기도와 울부짖음을 듣고 계십니다.
제가 시편 65:1-8 읽어드리겠습니다.
David also had many ups and downs but was eventually again restored at his rightful throne.
Right now, are you at a time of uncertainty. Are you at a fork in the road? You don’t know where to turn to. God is here. God is listening to your heart. God is listening to your prayers.
I will read to you Psalms 65: 1-8.
하나님이여 찬송이 시온에서 주를 기다리오며 사람이 서원을 주께 이행하리이다. 기도를 들으시는 주여 모든 육체가 주께 나아오리이다. 죄악이 나를 이겼사오니 우리의 허물을 주께서 사하시리이다. 주께서 택하시고 가까이 오게하사 주의 뜰에 살게 하신 사람은 복이 있나이다. 우리가 주의 집 곧 주의 성전의 아름다움으로 만족하리이다. 우리 구원의 하나님이시여 땅의 모든 끝과 먼 바다에 있는 자가 의지할 주께서 의를 따라 엄위하신 일로 우리에게 응답하시리이다. 주는 주의 힘으로 산을 세우시며 권능으로 띠를 띠시며 바다의 설렘과 물결의 흔들림과 만민의 소요까지 진정하시나이다. 땅 끝에 사는 자가 주의 징조를 두려워하나이다 주께서 아침 되는 것과 저녁 되는 것을 즐거워하게 하시며
Praise awaits you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. You who answer prayer, to you all people will come. When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.
하나님은 우리의 기도를 응답하십니다. 하나님은 요동치는 바다, 요동치는 파도, 모든 소란을 가라앉힐 수 있습니다. 하나님은 모든 것을 가능케 하실 줄 믿습니다. 우리는 두려워해야 할 것이 없는 줄 믿습니다. 오늘 새벽, 걱정과 어려움, 그리고 모든 걸림돌을 가지고 하나님께 나아가는 교회가 되기를 원합니다. 하나님의 시간 안에 모든 기도가 응답 받을 것입니다. 그의 사랑에 초점을 맞추고 모든 것을 그의 발 앞에 내려놓도록 합시다.
God answers our prayers. God can still the roaring seas, the roaring waves, the turmoil of the nations. What should we be afraid of? This morning, let us be a church that will go to God with all our worries, hardships, and obstacles. In His time, all our prayers will be answered. Let us focus on His love and laying down everything at his feet.
