6 그 중에 하나가 세마포 옷을 입은 자 곧 강물 위쪽에 있는 자에게 이르되 이 놀라운 일의 끝이 어느 때까지냐 하더라
7 내가 들은즉 그 세마포 옷을 입고 강물 위쪽에 있는 자가 자기의 좌우 손을 들어 하늘을 향하여 영원히 살아 계시는 이를 가리켜 맹세하여 이르되 반드시 한 때 두 때 반 때를 지나서 성도의 권세가 다 깨지기까지이니 그렇게 되면 이 모든 일이 다 끝나리라 하더라
8 내가 듣고도 깨닫지 못한지라 내가 이르되 내 주여 이 모든 일의 결국이 어떠하겠나이까 하니
9 그가 이르되 다니엘아 갈지어다 이 말은 마지막 때까지 간수하고 봉함할 것임이니라
10 많은 사람이 연단을 받아 스스로 정결하게 하며 희게 할 것이나 악한 사람은 악을 행하리니 악한 자는 아무것도 깨닫지 못하되 오직 지혜 있는 자는 깨달으리라
11 매일 드리는 제사를 폐하며 멸망하게 할 가증한 것을 세울 때부터 천이백구십 일을 지낼 것이요
12 기다려서 천삼백삼십오 일까지 이르는 그 사람은 복이 있으리라
13 너는 가서 마지막을 기다리라 이는 네가 평안히 쉬다가 끝날에는 네 몫을 누릴 것임이라
요즘 교회는 회중들의 찬양을 돕기 위한 시스템이 정말 훌륭합니다.
컴퓨터와 영사기Beam Projector를 이용하여 찬양의 가사를 그대로 투사projection하여 전 교인이 쉽게 찬양가사를 보고 배우고, 따라 부를 수 있습니다.
제가 어릴 적 주일학교에서 찬양을 부르기 위해서는 꼭 필요한 것이 있었는데, 궤도chart라는 것입니다.
제일 큰 도화지 한 장에 찬양 한 곡 가사를 적은 후 그것들을 철해서(여러 장의 문서, 신문 따위를 한데 모아 꿰매어) 거치대에 걸어서 한 장씩 넘겨가며 사용하는 것입니다.
한 곡이 끝나면 선생님이 다음 곡을 찾아 힘겹게 종이다발을 넘겼던 기억이 납니다.
컴퓨터와 궤도 중간에 등장했던 찬양 시스템이 OHP Overhead projector라는 기계입니다.
투명한 플라스틱 필름에 찬양 악보나 가사를 직접 복사하여 빛을 내는 판 위에 올리면, 반사경이 그 그림이나 글을 스크린에 투사하는 방식입니다. 당시에 얼마 획기적인 시스템이었는지 모릅니다.
OHP가 재미있는 것은 여러 장의 필름을 겹쳐서도 투사할 수 있다는 것입니다.
그러면 여러 장의 그림이나 글이 동시에 한 화면으로 등장합니다.
시간의 제약을 받지 않는 하나님이 역사를 보는 시각이 이와 비슷하다고 이해할 수 있습니다.
과거와 현재, 그리고 미래가 동시에 겹쳐서 보이는 것입니다. 하나님 앞에서 시간은 무의미 합니다.
사실 우리가 예언을 이해하는 부분에 있어서 겪는 근본적인 어려움도 여기에 있습니다.
하나님과 인간의 근본적인 차이 때문인 것이죠.
다니엘서의 마지막12장도 마찬가지입니다. 안티오쿠스 에피파네스의 박해로 인하여 유다에 임할 환난(B.C.167-163)에 관한 예언임과 동시에 에피파네스가 예표하는 바 마지막 날 등장하여 하나님의 백성을 핍박할 적그리스도의 대한 예언이기도 합니다.
마지막 때의 특징 (1-4절)
마지막 때의 특징은 환난(1)입니다.
나라가 생긴 이후에 없었던 매우 큰 환난이 있을 것입니다.
예수님이 이 땅에 초림 하시기 전 이스라엘의 신구약 중간기에 이스라엘은 안티오쿠스 에피파네스에 의해서 심각한 박해를 당했습니다. 이제 동일한 프레임으로 마지막 날 예수님이 재림 하시기 전에 에피파네스가 예표한 적그리스도가 등장하여 주의 거룩한 백성들을 핍박할 것입니다.
이것은 마지막 때의 정확한 특징입니다. 그것은 신앙으로 인한 환란입니다.
하지만 성도들은 너무 염려하지 않아도 됩니다.
왜냐하면 하나님께서 천사장 미가엘을 통하여 성도들을 보호하실 것을 약속(1a)하시기 때문입니다.
마지막 때의 두 번째 특징은 심판(2)입니다. 반드시 환난의 끝에 하나님의 심판이 있습니다.
그리고 이것은 모든 것의 끝(7b)입니다. 땅의 티끌 가운데에서 자는 자 중에서 많은 사람이 깨어나 심판(2a)을 받습니다. 믿음이 있는 자는 영생이고, 그렇지 않은 자는 수치를 당하여 영원히 부끄러움을 당할 것(2b)입니다. 반드시 상과 벌, 영생과 영벌이 있습니다.
천사는 다니엘에게 이 말을 마지막 때까지 간수하고 봉함하라(4a, 9b)고 명령합니다.
여기서 봉함하라 는 원어로 חתם (하톰)인데, 이것은 비밀을 유지하라는 의미라기 보다는 기록된 내용이 공식적이고 변할 수 없는 것임을 의미하는 것입니다.
한마디로 기록된 내용의 확실성, 유효성, 불변성을 표현하는 것입니다.
말씀은 일점 일획도 변하지 않고 그대로 이루어졌고, 또한 이루어질 것입니다.
마지막 때를 사는 성도들의 삶의 특징 (5-13절)
이러한 마지막 때를 사는 성도들은 어떤 삶을 살아야 할까요?
첫째로 지혜로운 삶(3, 10)을 살아야 합니다.
왜냐하면 지혜 있는 자는 하늘의 빛과 같이 빛날 것(3a)이고, 오직 지혜 있는 자만이 하나님의 말씀을 깨달을 수 있기 때문(10b)입니다. 지혜의 근본은 하나님을 아는 것이며, 동시에 지혜는 예수 그리스도를 의미합니다. 그러므로 지혜로운 삶은 하나님을 알고 예수를 믿는 삶입니다. 예수 믿는 자만이 부지런히 말씀을 연구하고, 하나님 말씀의 의미(4b)를 깨닫습니다.
둘째로 전도하는 삶(3b)을 살아야 합니다.
많은 사람을 옳은 데로 돌아오게 한 자는 별과 같이 영원토록 빛나리라(3b) 예수를 믿었다면 이제는 그 지혜를 전해야 합니다. 마지막 때일수록 더 급합니다. 옳은 데로 돌아오게 한 자 라는 것은 믿음으로, 말씀으로 돌이키도록 전도한 자를 의미합니다. 그러한 자가 누리는 축복은 영원토록 찬란하게 빛나는 것입니다. 하나님이 주시는 영광과 상을 얻을 것입니다.
셋째로 인내하는 삶(10a)을 살아야 합니다.
마지막 날에는 극심한 환난이 있지만 하나님이 당신의 백성을 보호해주시고, 또한 그 날을 감해 주실 것입니다. 그러므로 성도는 인내하는 삶을 살아야 합니다.
1290일(11b)은 마지막 날 7년 대환난의 마지막 한 때 두 때 반 때(사흘 반/3년 반/42개월/1260일)에 한 달(30일)을 더한 숫자입니다. 학자들마다 그 기간에 대한 해석이 다양하지만 확실한 것은 이 모든 일이 다 끝나리라(7b), 곧 반드시 끝이 있다는 사실입니다. 그러므로 현재의 고난을 인내해야 합니다!
넷째로 소망하는 삶(12a, 13a)을 살아야 합니다.
대환난 3년 반에 한 달을 더하고, 거기에 45일을 더한 1335일을 인내하고 기다린 자는 복이 있을 것(12)입니다. 또한 천사는 다니엘에게 가서 마지막을 기다리라(13a)고 명령합니다.
성도는 비록 이 땅에 발을 딛고 살지만, 마음은 늘 천국을 소망해야 합니다.
그러한 자는 복(영생, 안식)을 얻을 것입니다.
세공업자는 금속을 가공할 때 자신의 얼굴이 금속에 비칠 때까지 금속을 불과 물에 번갈아 넣으며 망치로 두드린다고 합니다. 불과 물과 망치가 금속을 거울처럼 변화시키는 것이 신기합니다.
하나님은 우리 인생을 불과 물과 망치와 같은 고난을 통해서, 하나님의 얼굴이 나의 삶에서 찬란하게 비쳐질 때까지 연단하십니다. 그러므로 우리는 현재의 고난을 인내해야 합니다.
현재의 고난은 장차 우리에게 나타날 영광과 결단코 비교할 수 없을 것(롬 8:18)입니다.
기억하십시오! 반드시 끝이 있습니다. 끝까지 참고 견디는 자는 영광을 얻을 것입니다.
이 모든 영적인 마지막 때를 먼저 경험한 믿음의 선배의 고백이 나의 고백이 되기를 원합니다.
나의 가는 길을 오직 그가 아시나니 그가 나를 단련하신 후에는 내가 정금 같이 나오리라
(욥 23:10)
“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”
9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”
Churches in these days have a really great system to help congregations sing.
Using a computer and a beam projector, the lyrics of the praise are projected, so that all church members can easily read, learn, and sing along the lyrics.
When I was a child, a chart was used to sing praise at Sunday School.
After writing the lyrics of a song on one of the largest drawing papers, and then put together (multiple documents, newspapers, etc.) and hang them on a hanger and then flip them.
At the end of a song, the teacher struggled to find the next song and flipped the stack of papers.
The praise system that appeared between the computer and the chart is a machine called OHP (Overhead projector).
Copy the sheet music or lyrics on a transparent plastic film and place it on a light-emitting board, the reflector projects the picture or text onto the screen. It was very innovative at the time.
What's interesting thing about transparencies is that we can even project multiple sheets of film overlaid.
Then, several pictures or texts appear on one screen at the same time.
It can be understood that God, who is not limited by time, sees history as similar way.
The past, the present, and the future appear to overlap at the same time. Time is meaningless before God.
In fact, this is also the fundamental difficulty we face, to understand prophecy.
It is because of the fundamental difference between God and human.
The same goes for the last chapter 12 of Daniel. It is a prophecy about the tribulation that will come upon Judah (B.C. 167-163) due to the persecution of Antiochus Epiphanes, and it is also a prophecy of the Antichrist who will appear in the last days and persecute God's people, as Epiphanes predicts.
Characteristics of the time of the end (verses 1-4) The characteristic of the time of the end is tribulation (1). There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then.
Before Jesus' first advent on this earth, in the middle of the New and Old Testaments in Israel, Israel was severely persecuted by Antiochus Epiphanes. Now, in the same frame, the Antichrist typified by Epiphanes before Jesus' return on the last day will appear and persecute the holy people of the Lord.
This is an exact feature of the time of the end. It is the tribulation of faith.
However, the saints don't have to worry too much.
Because God promises to protect the saints through Michael the archangel (1a).
The second characteristic of the time of the end is judgment (2). There must be God's judgment at the end of the tribulation.
All these things will be completed (7b). Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake to receive judgment (2a). Those who have faith will have everlasting life, and those who do not will be put to shame and everlasting contempt (2b). There are always rewards and punishments, eternal life and eternal punishment.
The angel commands Daniel to close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end (4a, 9b).
Here, the original word “seal” is חתם (hatom), which does not mean to keep secret, but rather that the recorded content is official and cannot be changed.
In another word, it expresses the certainty, validity, and constancy of the recorded content.
The Word has been and will be accomplished as it is, not the least stroke of a pen.
The characteristics of the life of the saints living in the time of the end (verses 5-13) What kind of life should the saints living in this time of the end?
First, must live a wise life (3, 10). Because the wise will shine like the brightness of the Heavens (3a), and only the wise will understand the Word of God (10b). The basis of wisdom is to know God, while wisdom means Jesus Christ. Therefore, a wise life is a life of knowing God and believing in Jesus. Only those who believe in Jesus diligently study the Word and understand the meaning of God's Word (4b).
Second, must live a life of evangelism (3b). Those who lead many to righteous, like the stars for ever and ever (3b). If you believed in Jesus, you must now convey that wisdom. The last days, the more urgent. To be a person who lead many to righteous means a person who evangelizes to turn to the word by faith. The blessings enjoyed by such a person will shine brightly forever. The person will receive the glory and rewards from God.
Third, must live a life of patience (10a). In the last days, there is a tremendous tribulation, but God will protect his people and will cut days. Therefore, believers must live enduring lives.
1290 days (11b) is the number of the last 7-year Great Tribulation plus one month (30 days), the last one time and two and a half times (three and a half days/3 years and a half/42 months/1260 days). Different scholars have different interpretations of the period, but what is certain is that all these things will be completed (7b), there will be an end. Therefore, we must endure the sufferings of the present!
Fourth, must live a life of hope (12a, 13a).
Blessed is the one who have endured and waited for 1,335 days after adding one month to the three and a half years of the great tribulation and 45 days (12). The angel also commands Daniel to go your way till the end (13a).
Although Saints live on this earth, hearts must always hope for Heaven.
Such a person will find blessings (eternal life, rest).
It is said that when a craftsman is working on metal, he taps the metal alternately with fire and water until his face reflects the metal. It's amazing how fire and water and hammer transform metal like a mirror.
God tries our lives through sufferings such as fire, water, and hammer, until the face of God shines brightly in our lives. Therefore, we must endure our present suffering.
Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Rom. 8:18)
Remember! There must be an end. Those who endure to the end will receive glory.
Hope my confession to be the same confession of the ancestors who first experienced all these spiritual time of the end.
Only he knows the way I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold (Job 23:10).
