(12) 그가 내게 이르되 다니엘아 두려워하지 말라 네가 깨달으려 하여 네 하나님 앞에 스스로 겸비하게 하기로 결심하던 첫날부터 네 말이 응답 받았으므로 내가 네 말로 말미암아 왔느니라 (13) 그런데 바사 왕국의 군주가 이십일 일 동안 나를 막았으므로 내가 거기 바사 왕국의 왕들과 함께 머물러 있더니 가장 높은 군주 중 하나인 미가엘이 와서 나를 도와 주므로 (14) 이제 내가 마지막 날에 네 백성이 당할 일을 네게 깨닫게 하러 왔노라 이는 이 환상이 오랜 후의 일임이라 하더라
(15) 그가 이런 말로 내게 이를 때에 내가 곧 얼굴을 땅에 향하고 말문이 막혔더니 (16) 인자와 같은 이가 있어 내 입술을 만진지라 내가 곧 입을 열어 내 앞에 서 있는 자에게 말하여 이르되 내 주여 이 환상으로 말미암아 근심이 내게 더하므로 내가 힘이 없어졌나이다 (17) 내 몸에 힘이 없어졌고 호흡이 남지 아니하였사오니 내 주의 이 종이 어찌 능히 내 주와 더불어 말씀할 수 있으리이까 하니
(18) 또 사람의 모양 같은 것 하나가 나를 만지며 나를 강건하게 하여 (19) 이르되 큰 은총을 받은 사람이여 두려워하지 말라 평안하라 강건하라 강건하라 그가 이같이 내게 말하매 내가 곧 힘이 나서 이르되 내 주께서 나를 강건하게 하셨사오니 말씀하옵소서
(20) 그가 이르되 내가 어찌하여 네게 왔는지 네가 아느냐 이제 내가 돌아가서 바사 군주와 싸우려니와 내가 나간 후에는 헬라의 군주가 이를 것이라 (21) 오직 내가 먼저 진리의 글에 기록된 것으로 네게 보이리라 나를 도와서 그들을 대항할 자는 너희의 군주 미가엘뿐이니라
다니엘은 하나님께 큰 은총을 받은greatly beloved 사람(9:23; 10:11, 19)이었습니다.
청결한 마음으로 하나님을 간절히 구했던 다니엘은 하나님의 은총을 입어 성육신 하시기 전 예수님을 만날 수 있었습니다. 너무도 큰 은혜입니다!
다니엘이 경험하고 만난 예수님, 곧 하나님은 어떤 하나님이신가요?!
응답하시는 하나님 (10-14절)
유월절 기간에 21일간 금식하며 기도하던 다니엘에게 주님이 나타나셔서 말씀 하시자, 다니엘은 그분의 음성을 듣고 그만 기절해 버립니다. 오늘 본문은 그 이후의 이야기입니다.
오늘 본문 10절 우리말 성경은 한 손이 있어 로 시작하지만, 히브리어 성경은 베 힌네(그리고 보라! 또는 그리고 갑자기/ And behold, And suddenly)로 시작합니다. 베힌네 는 주위를 환기 시키면서 꼭 주목하여 봐야 할 부분에 쓰이는 표현입니다.
본문 16절도 마찬가지로 베힌네가 있습니다. 번역하는 부분에 있어서 많이 아쉽습니다.
18절의 번역도 마찬가지인데, 히브리어 바이요셒(And again)을 단지 또 라고만 번역했습니다.
만일 잘못 이해하면 마치 또 다른 사람의 모양을 한 존재가 나타난 것처럼 이해가 됩니다.
사실 18절은 그리고 그The 사람 같은 존재가 다시 나를 어루만졌다 라는 의미입니다.
만일 다니엘서 10장을 한글 성경으로만 읽어서 잘못 이해하면 세마포 옷을 입은 한 사람(5)과 인자와 같은 이(16절), 그리고 또 사람의 모양 같은 것(18)이 각각 다른 존재로 여겨져 이것이 혹시 삼위일체 하나님을 말하는 것인지, 아니면 세 명의 천사를 의미하는 것인지 뜻이 모호해집니다.
히브리어 성경이나 영어성경, 또는 다른 한글번역 성경을 비교 참조하면서 읽으시면 본문에 등장하는 다니엘에게 계시하는 존재는 현현하신 그리스도로 한 분이라는 것이 확실해 질 것입니다.
주님은 다니엘을 큰 은총을 받은 사람이라고 부르고 어루만져 일으키시고, 하나님의 말씀(10-11)을 전합니다. 주님은 다니엘이 하나님의 뜻을 알고자 스스로 겸손하게 하기로 결심하고 금식기도를 시작한 첫 날부터 하나님이 응답하셨음을 알려줍니다(12).
하지만 주님이 응답을 가지고 오시는 동안(13)에 바사 왕국의 군주가 이십일 일 동안 주님의 앞을 막아섭니다. 여기서 군주에 해당하는 단어는 보통 왕을 뜻하는 멜렉이 아니라, 두목, 통치자, 지배자 라는 의미의 사르가 쓰였습니다. 이것은 일반적인 인간 바사(페르시아) 왕을 의미하는 것이 아닌 그 배후에 존재하는 영적인 세력을 의미하는 것입니다.
이때 천사장 중 하나인 군대 장관인 미가엘(누가 하나님과 같은가!)이 주님을 도와 하나님의 응답을 이제서야 전한다고 말씀하십니다. 그리고 마지막 날(예수님의 초림 전과 재림 전)에 있을 일에 대해서 알려주십니다(13-14).
여기서 우리는 다니엘이 경험한 하나님의 첫 번째 성품을 발견합니다. 반드시 응답하시는 하나님입니다.
하나님은 당신의 자녀의 기도에 반드시 응답하십니다! 예수님은 너희가 기도할 때에 무엇이든지 믿고 구하는 것은 다 받으리라 하시니라(마 21:22), 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 좋은 것으로 주시지 않겠느냐(마 7:11b)라고 말씀 하셨습니다.
또한 예수님의 동생 야고보는 오직 믿음으로 구하고 조금도 의심하지 말라(약 1:6a)고 말합니다.
그만큼 하나님의 기도응답은 확실한 약속입니다.
하나님은 다니엘이 기도하기로 작정하는 날부터 응답을 주십니다. 이토록 하나님의 응답은 신속합니다.
그러므로 결단하고 기도하기로 결심하는 것이 중요합니다. 혹시 실패하더라도, 계속 다시 결심하고, 또 결심해야 합니다! 그것이 믿음입니다.
본문은 기도와 관련하여 중요한 한가지 사실을 또 알려줍니다. 반드시 방해 세력이 있다는 사실입니다.
사탄은 지금도 이 세상 권세와 정치, 문화 등 모든 분야의 배후에서 하나님의 나라와 하나님의 백성을 방해합니다. 이것은 마지막 주님이 오시는 그 날까지 계속되는 싸움임을 절대로 잊지 말아야 합니다.
주님의 응답을 바사 왕국의 군주, 곧 사탄의 세력이 방해를 합니다. 이런 의문이 듭니다. 예수님을 사탄이 막아 선다고? 그래서 혹자들은 본문에 등장하는 계시자를 천사장 가브리엘로 해석하기도 합니다.
개인적으로 주님이 사탄을 이기지 못해서 지체한 것은 아니라고 생각합니다. 때론 하나님은 우리의 인내와 끈기를 시험하십니다. 그러므로 기도하되 응답을 확신하고, 응답 받을 때까지 하는 것이 중요합니다.
위로하시는 하나님 (15-21절)
본문에서 다니엘이 만난 주님의 두 번째 모습은 위로하시는 하나님입니다. 주님은 다니엘을 위로하시되 어루만지시며(10, 16, 18절) 위로합니다. 스킨쉽에는 많은 힘이 있습니다. 마음이 안정되고, 상처를 회복시키는 힘이 있습니다. 그러므로 부부간에, 부모 자녀간에도 자주 스킨쉽을 통해 서로를 격려하는 것이 필요합니다. 사람끼리의 스킨쉽에도 힘이 있어 회복과 안정을 준다면, 하나님이 우리 인간을 만져주실 때는 무슨 말이 필요하겠습니까?!
주님이 다니엘의 입술에 손을 대자 그의 막혔던 말문이 열립(16)니다. 이사야 선지자의 입술에 주의 제단 숯불이 닿자 그의 죄가 사해지고 거룩해진 것(사 6:7)과 동일한 현상이라 할 수 있습니다.
또한 주님은 그를 어루만지며 동시에 말씀으로 다니엘을 위로하고 축복하여 회복 시키십니다.
주님은 명령하십니다! 평안하라! Shalom강건하라! Hazaq 그러자 다니엘이 이내 힘을 내고 회복(19)합니다!
그렇습니다! 주님의 말씀이 능력입니다! 주님의 말씀에 위로가 있습니다!
요즘 현대인들은 매우 힘들고, 두렵고, 어렵고, 외로운 세상을 살아갑니다.
그 때 필요한 것이 능력이고, 위로입니다. 어디서 이러한 것들을 얻을 수 있겠습니까?!
사람을 찾고, 사람을 의지 하지 맙시다! 물론 이것이 모든 인간적인 관계와 의료행위 등이 불필요 하다는 의미가 아닙니다. 근본적인 위로와 회복의 근원이 어디인지를 잊지 말라는 의미입니다.
하나님의 말씀이 능력과 회복의 근원입니다!
기도하고 말씀을 읽을 때 평안(샬롬)을 누리고, 강건할 수(하자크) 있습니다!

10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.
12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”
15 While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless. 16 Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. 17 How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”
18 Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength. 19 “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.”
When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.”
20 So he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; 21 but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince.
Daniel was a man who was greatly beloved by God (Daniel 9:23; 10:11,19)
Daniel earnestly sought after God with his pure heart and was able to meet Jesus before his incarnation. What a great blessing that is!
So what kind of God is this Jesus who Daniel experienced and met?
God who answers our prayers (verses 10-14)
During the time of passover, Daniel fasted and prayed for 21 days. And God appeared in front of Daniel and as Daniel heard the voice of God, he fell down flat on his face. Today’s scripture is about what happened after.
In verse 10, it starts off with A hand touched me, but in the Hebrew bible, it starts off with וְהִנֵּה־ wə-hin-nêh (And behold/suddenly). This phrase is usually used for areas that must be paid extra attention to while ventilating.
Also in verse 16, the same phrase wə-hin-nêh is used. It’s a shame that this translation is not completely accurate.
And in verse 18, the phrase וַיֹּ֧סֶף way-yō-sep̄ actually means and again but our translated bible says and.
If this part is misunderstood, there can be a thinking that another person or another being appeared.
verse 18 actually means that the one who looked like a man touched me again.
If Daniel 10 is just read word for word, it can be misunderstood in a way that there were three different beings, the man dressed in linen(verse 5), the one who looked like a man(verse 16), and the second being who looked like a man (verse 18). So this becomes very unclear, whether it can be symbolizing the trinity or just 3 angels.
If you read these scriptures while referring to the Hebrew Bible, the English bible, and the Korean bible, we can see that there is only ONE who is showing visions to Daniel, and that is Jesus.
God calls on Daniel who is highly esteemed, and gets Daniel to stand up as God starts speaking to Daniel.
We can see from verse 12, that God responded to Daniel from the very first day of his fast when Daniel set his mind to gain understanding and humility.
But (verse 13) while God is trying to respond to Daniel, he is resisted by the Prince of Persia for 21 days. So here, when we are talking about he prince we are not just talking about a normal king (melek), we are referring to the complete ruler. We are not just talking about this human prince but also the spiritual forces behind the Prince of Persia.
And it says Michael, one of the chief angels came to help him and was able to deliver them ssage. And also Jesus tells Daniel of his last days (verse 13-14)
And here we see God’s first character that Daniel experienced. And that is God who answers our prayers. God definitely answers our prayers! If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. (matthew 21:22), how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (matthew 7:11b)
And Jesus’ brother Jacob said But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, (James 1:6)
God promised us that God will indeed answer our prayers.
God answered Daniel’s prayers from that very first day when he decided to pray. God’s answers are quick like so. So determining to pray is the most important part. Even though you may fall, we need to recommit ourselves every single day and that is what we call faith!
We can see one truth that is so important about prayer. There is definitely an opposing dark force. Even today, Satan is continuing to mess with the people of God and the kingdom of God, when it comes to world issues, politics, etc… What we need to know is that until the day Jesus makes his return once again, there will be spiritual warfare.
Did God struggle with Satan or 21 days? It was not because God could not defeat Satan. It was to test our patience and persistence. Therefore it is important for us to pray until we see our prayers answered.
God who comforts us (verses 15-21)
The second characteristic of God that Daniel met was God the comforter. God continues to comfort Daniel by touching Daniel. There is great power behind physical affection: power to calm one’s mind and to heal the places that hurt. Therefore, between a couple or a parent/child relationship, physical affection is needed to comfort each other. So if we say physical affection between people have great power in comforting, how much power will be see when God is showing us physical affection?
As soon as God touches Daniel’s lips, he was able to open his mouth (verse 16). It is a similar situation of the event in Isaiah 6:7, when the coal from the Lord’s altar touched the lips of Isaiah, his sins were forgiven and sanctified.
So God comforts Daniel through the touch and words.
The Lord commands Daniel! Peace! Be strong! And Daniel in turn begins to restore himself.
That is right! There is great power in the word of God! There is great comfort in the word of God.
In today’s day and age, many people are living in a difficult, fearful, and lonely world.
During those times is when we need comfort and power. Where we can we receive them?
Let us not just rely on the powers of regular human. Of course, this does not mean that all relationships between people are unnecessary. It means to not forget the source of one’s comfort and power.
The word of God is our source of comfort and power!
When we pray and read the word of God, we will feel peace and be strong.
Let us be able to proclaim to others today.
