13 어찌하여 당신과 당신의 백성이 여호와께서 바벨론의 왕을 섬기지 아니하는 나라에 대하여 하신 말씀과 같이 칼과 기근과 전염병에 죽으려 하나이까

16 내가 또 제사장들과 그 모든 백성에게 전하여 이르되 여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시기를 보라 여호와의 성전의 기구를 이제 바벨론에서 속히 돌려오리라고 너희에게 예언하는 선지자들의 말을 듣지 말라 이는 그들이 거짓을 예언함이니라 하셨나니
17 너희는 그들의 말을 듣지 말고 바벨론의 왕을 섬기라 그리하면 살리라 어찌하여 이 성을 황무지가 되게 하려느냐
18 만일 그들이 선지자이고 여호와의 말씀을 가지고 있다면 그들이 여호와의 성전에와 유다의 왕의 궁전에와 예루살렘에 남아 있는 기구를 바벨론으로 옮겨가지 못하도록 만군의 여호와께 구하여야 할 것이니라
19 만군의 여호와께서 기둥들과 큰 대야와 받침들과 이 성에 남아 있는 기구에 대하여 이같이 말씀하시나니
20 이것은 바벨론의 왕 느부갓네살이 유다의 왕 여호야김의 아들 여고니야와 유다와 예루살렘 모든 귀인을 예루살렘에서 바벨론으로 사로잡아 옮길 때에 가져가지 아니하였던 것이라
21 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 여호와의 성전과 유다의 왕의 궁전과 예루살렘에 남아 있는 그 기구에 대하여 이와 같이 말씀하셨느니라
22 그것들이 바벨론으로 옮겨지고 내가 이것을 돌보는 날까지 거기에 있을 것이니라 그 후에 내가 그것을 올려 와 이 곳에 그것들을 되돌려 두리라 여호와의 말씀이니라
어제 뉴스를 검색하던 중 충청남도 천안에 위치한 안서교회 담임목사가 교회 앞에 건 안내문이 화제가 되었다는 뉴스를 보았습니다. 그 내용은 다음과 같습니다.
예배 드리면 죽인다고 칼이 들어올 때, 목숨을 걸고 예배 드리는 것이 신앙입니다.
사실 여기까지는 요즘 많은 한국교회들이 주장하는 바이고, 이것을 본 일반인의 반응도 “또 시작이구나” 하는 부정적인 반응이었습니다. 저 역시 마찬가지이고요. 그런데 그 뒤에 반전이 있었습니다.
그러나 예배 모임이 칼이 되어 이웃의 목숨을 위태롭게 하면 모이지 않는 것이 신앙입니다.

이를 본 인터넷 사용자들은 "첫 문단만 보고 역시나 또 시작이구나 하면서 욕을 했다가, 두 번째 문단에서 박수 치며 감동받고 간다", "이런 사람이 참 종교인이다. 가까운 곳이라면 저 교회에 가보고 싶다", "예수의 뜻으로 돈을 버는 사람과 예수의 뜻으로 마음을 버는 사람의 차이다" 등의 의견을 남기며 해당 게시글에 대해 박수를 보내며 많은 공유를 하고 있다고 합니다.
현장 예배를 강행하는 분들은 나름대로 목회철학과 신앙관이 있어서 그렇게 하겠지만, 때론 기독교는 좀 더 성숙하고 큰 그림을 볼 줄 알아야 한다고 생각합니다. 중요한 것은 전혀 성경적이지도 않고, 성경에서 그 어떤 근거도 찾을 수 없으며, 편파적이고 편협하며 전혀 상식적이지도 않고, 비이성적인 자기 생각이 마치 하나님의 뜻인 것처럼 주장하고 성도들에게 설교하는 목사들을 매우 조심해야 한다는 것입니다.
예레미야 26-29장은 산문 형식의 설화Narrative로 이루어진, 거짓 선지자에 대한 주제를 다루는 부분입니다.
유다에 임한 여호와의 말씀 (12-13절)
예레미야 선지자는 주변국을 향해 전했던 여호와의 예언의 말씀을 이제는 유다와 시드기야 왕에게로 향하여 선포합니다. 그 내용은 왕과 백성은 바벨론 왕의 멍에를 목에 메고 그와 그의 백성을 섬기소서 그리하면 사시리라… 어찌 칼과 기근과 전염병에 죽으려 하니이까 입니다. 이러한 메시지는 전하는 자도 너무 힘들고, 듣는 자도 너무 힘든 내용이라 생각합니다. 적들과 맞서 싸우라고 용기를 북돋아 주어도 부족한 판에 오히려 항복하라고, 그렇게 하지 않으면 죽는다고 말하고 있으니 말입니다.
우리나라 역사에 빗대어 설명하자면 일제 강점기에 그들의 통치에 순종하는 것이 하나님의 뜻이라고 말하는 셈입니다. 문제는 민족주의 입장에서 본 불의(바벨론의 침략)가 하나님의 뜻이었다는 사실입니다!
여기서 우리는 큰 모순에 빠지게 됩니다. 악(惡)이 선(善)이고, 선이 악이란 말인가? 이러한 것을 소위 역설[1]Paradox이라고 합니다. 초대교회 한 교부는 기독교는 불합리하다. 고로 나는 믿는다 고 말했습니다.
하나님이 인간이 되시고, 창조주가 지음 받은 존재를 위해 죽는 것! 이것 자체가 아주 큰 모순입니다. 택하신 자라도 징벌 하시는 하나님, 때론 징벌의 도구로 악인을 들어 사용하시는 하나님, 징벌하시지만 다시 회복 시키는 하나님! 이 모든 것이 인간의 머리로는 다 이해할 수 없는 역설인 것입니다.
거짓 메시지1 (14-15절)
거짓 선지자들의 첫 번째 거짓 메시지는 바벨론 왕을 섬기게 되지 아니 하리라(14a절) 라는 것입니다. 정치적, 군사적으로 바벨론에게 멸망하지 않는다는 것입니다. 하지만 이것은 거짓 메시지입니다.
이는 여호와의 말씀이니라(15a절) 예레미야는 메시지의 정확한 출처를 밝힙니다. 맹세와도 같은 것입니다. 하나님이 보내지도 않았음에도, 여호와의 이름으로 거짓 예언을 하는 자들을 몰아내시고, 그 말을 믿는 자들 역시 멸망할 것입니다. 실제로 거짓 선지자의 말을 믿고 느부갓네살에게 반역을 했던 시드기야는 B.C.586년 느부갓네살에게 붙잡혀, 자신이 보는 앞에서 아들들이 살해 당하고 자신은 두 눈이 뽑히고, 쇠사슬에 묶여 바벨론으로 끌려가 그곳에서 죽습니다(왕하 25:1-7).
거짓 메시지2 (16-22절)
두 번째 거짓 메시지는 여호와의 성전의 기구를 이제 바벨론에서 속히 돌려 오리라 는 것입니다. 유다는 벌써 B.C.605년과 B.C.598년에 바벨론에 고관과 귀인들이 포로로 잡혀 갔고, 그 때 성전 기구들도 거의 대부분 빼앗기고, 아주 일부만 남았습니다. 그런데 빼앗긴 성전 기구들이 곧, 속히 돌아올 것이라는 거짓 예언입니다. 돌아오기는커녕 얼마 후 그들이 그렇게 믿고 의지했던 성전까지도 완전히 무너지고 맙니다.
그 후에 내가 그것을 올려 와 이곳에 그것들을 되돌려 두리라(22b절) 물론 성전 기구가 돌아오기는 돌아오는데, 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 페르시아 고레스에 의해 망한 후 벌어지는 70년 후의 일입니다.
긍정적인 메시지, 또는 부정적인 메시지? 과연 어떤 것이 진짜 하나님의 메시지일까요?
사도 요한은 다음과 같이 말했습니다.
사랑하는 자들아 영을 다 믿지 말고 오직 영들이 하나님께 속하였나 분별하라(요일 4:1a)
목사가 말한다고 다 믿어서는 안 됩니다. 분명하게 분별할 줄 알아야 합니다.
그렇다고 내 맘대로, 내 경험과 생각으로 판단하라는 의미가 아닙니다. 어떻게 분별할 수 있을까요?
성경을 보면 메시지의 부정적 또는 긍정적인 내용으로 결코 진위 여부를 가릴 수 없음을 알 수 있습니다.
역사적인 흐름, 우리 자신이 말씀을 얼마나 순종했는지에 대한 여부, 메시지를 전하는 메신저의 삶과 인격, 영성에 대한 검증, 메시지가 상식적인지 비상식적인지에 대한 점검 등 이 모든 것들을 종합적으로 고려하여 판단 하되, 가장 중요한 성령의 충만함이 있어야 합니다. 사도 바울은 다음과 같이 권면합니다.
하나님의 일도 하나님의 영 외에는 아무도 알지 못하느니라 (고전 2:11b)
오직 성령께서 가르치신 것으로 하니 영적인 일은 영적인 것으로 분별하느니라 (고전 2:13b)
왜, 성령충만 해야 하는지 알 수 있는 대목입니다. 오늘도 주 뜻 알기 위해 성령 충만입니다!

12 I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, “Bow your neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live. 13 Why will you and your people die by the sword, famine and plague with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14 Do not listen to the words of the prophets who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies to you. 15 ‘I have not sent them,’ declares the Lord. ‘They are prophesying lies in my name. Therefore, I will banish you and you will perish, both you and the prophets who prophesy to you.’”
16 Then I said to the priests and all these people, “This is what the Lord says: Do not listen to the prophets who say, ‘Very soon now the articles from the Lord’s house will be brought back from Babylon.’ They are prophesying lies to you. 17 Do not listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and you will live. Why should this city become a ruin? 18 If they are prophets and have the word of the Lord, let them plead with the Lord Almighty that the articles remaining in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem not be taken to Babylon. 19 For this is what the Lord Almighty says about the pillars, the bronze Sea, the movable stands and the other articles that are left in this city, 20 which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take away when he carried Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon, along with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem— 21 yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says about the things that are left in the house of the Lord and in the palace of the king of Judah and in Jerusalem: 22 ‘They will be taken to Babylon and there they will remain until the day I come for them,’ declares the Lord. ‘Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place.’”
Yesterday, while searching for the news, I saw the news that the announcement posted in front of the church by the senior pastor of Anseo Church in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do became a hot topic. Its contents are as follows.
When a sword comes in saying that you will be killed when you worship, it is faith to risk your life to worship.
In fact, up to this point, many Korean churches claim that these days, and the reaction of the general public who saw this was a negative, saying, “There they go again.” The same is true of me. But there was a reversal after that.
However, if a worship service becomes a sword and jeopardizes the lives of neighbors,
it is faith that we do not gather.

Internet users who saw this say, "After reading the first sentence, there they go again, but then I clap my hands after reading the second paragraph and I am moved." "This is a true religious person. I would like to go to that church if it is close to me." “It is the difference between a person who earns money by the will of Jesus and a person who earns heart by the will of Jesus." People left these messages and they applauded the post and shared a lot.
Those who practice on-the-spot worship will do so because they have their own philosophy of pastoralism and beliefs, but I think that Christianity sometimes needs to be more mature and see the big picture. It is important to be very careful with pastors, preaching to the saints, claiming their own thoughts as the will of God, who are not at all biblical, have no basis in the Bible, are biased, narrow minded, not make common sense, irrational.
Jeremiah chapters 26-29 are a prose-style narrative that deals with the subject of false prophets.
Jehovah's Word to Judah (verses 12-13) The prophet Jeremiah proclaims the words of Jehovah's prophecies addressed to neighboring nations, now to Judah and to King Zedekiah. The message was “Bow your neck under the yoke of the king Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live... Why will you die by the sword, famine, and plague?” I think such a message is too difficult for the person to convey, and too difficult for the listener. Even if he encourages them to fight against their enemies will not be enough, but he has to tell them to surrender to the enemy, otherwise they will die.
In terms of Korean history, it is saying that it is God's will to obey Japanese rule during the Japanese colonial period. The issue is that injustice (Babylonian invasion) from the standpoint of nationalism was God's will!
Here we fall into a great contradiction. Are you saying that evil is good, and good is evil? This is so called the paradox. One early church father said that Christianity was absurd. Therefore I believe.
God becomes human and the Creator dies for the created being! This in itself is a very big contradiction.
God punishes even the chosen ones, God who sometimes picks up and uses the wicked as a punishment tool, but punishes the tool and then God restore them again! All of this is a paradox that the human cannot understand.
False message 1 (verses 14-15) The first false message from false prophets is that you will not serve the king of Babylon (verse 14a). Judea will not perish to Babylon politically and militaryly. But this is a false message.
Declares the LORD (verse 15a), Jeremiah reveals the exact source of the message. It's like an oath. Even though God has not sent them, those who prophesy falsely in the name of Jehovah will be driven out, and those who believe in those words will also perish. In fact, Zedekiah, who believed in the words of a false prophet and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar, was caught by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC, and his sons were killed in front of him, and then he was pulled out of his eyes, bound by chains, and dragged to Babylon, where he died (2 Kings 25:1-7).
False message 2 (verses 16-22) The second false message is “Very soon now the articles from the LORD’s house will be brought back from Babylon.” Judas was already taken captive to Babylon in B.C. 605 and B.C. 598, when most of the temple articles were taken away, and only a few left. However, it is a false prophecy that the stolen temple articles will soon return. Rather than return, after a while, even the temple they believed and relied on was completely destroyed.
“Then I will bring them back and restore them to this place (verse 22b)” Of course, the temple articles will come back, 70 years later after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon was destroyed by Cyrus of Persia.
Positive message or negative message? What is the real message of God? The apostle John said:
Dear friends, do not believe every Spirit, but test the sprits to see
whether they are from God (1 John 4:1a).
You can't believe everything the pastor says. You must know how to discern clearly.
That doesn't mean you should judge your own way, your own experiences and thoughts. How can you discern?
Looking at the Bible, we can see that the negative or positive content of a message can not be used to distinguish its authenticity.
The historical trend, how much we have obeyed the Word, the life and personality of the messenger who conveys the message, the verification of spirituality, and the examination of whether the message makes common sense or not, etc. We should check and consider based on all of these things. But above all, there must be the most important, fullness of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul exhorts:
No one knows the thought of God except the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:11b).
In words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words (1 Cor. 2:13b).
This is why you should be filled with the Holy Spirit. Fill with the Holy Spirit to know the will of the Lord, today!
